Obviously this topic must be slightly subjective as G-tolerance varies widely per individual. I think it's fair to assume that the pilots simulated in DCS should be: a) Trained to withstand g using the Hook manoeuvre (Anti-G Straining Maneuver (AGSM)) b) Be wearing anti-g suits c) Be physiologically able to withstand high sustained g Given the above 3 factors, there should be no problem sustaining 9g over a prolonged period (20 seconds or so) and higher g (9-12g) for shorter periods. DCS does not currently use these kinds of thresholds and I believe it should. It should not be that difficult programmatically to implement this.

It wouldn't surprise me that much if the final release date was announced at the same time as the release

Looks like an upgrade to RTX 2060 would help, (RTX 2060 super even better) https://www.gpucheck.com/compare/nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-vs-nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060/intel-core-i7-4770k-3-50ghz-vs-intel-core-i7-8700k-3-70ghz/

First order of battle would be to figure out which modem/router is assigning your IP address presuming you are using DHCP... open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all and look for DHCP server, if the address for the DHCP server is that of your router then you know that your router is handling it (It probably is as you as the network SSID and password is the same). Open your routers config page and ensure 10308, on TCP and UDP is open and forwarded. To open the router page go to the IP address of the DHCP server and enter the username and password for the router (can't help you with that bit). Also look at the DCS server logs, that should tell you something....

A comprehensive bug report on Polychop’s Gazelle

Great response from Polychop! enough said I think, let's move on.... and check again in a few months... ;) -
A comprehensive bug report on Polychop’s Gazelle
Yeti42 replied to Krippz's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
There are generally two types of development teams: 1. The team responds to user feedback and where applicable incorporates the feedback into the product when the feedback is accurate and relevant 2. The team regards any criticism (feedback) as a personal affront to their professional abilities and doubles down in order to justify product inadequacies and bugs I fear Polychop is type two, VEAO was the same with the Hawk, some of the same arguments were used when the community criticised the flight model "we had real pilots" etc. etc. and we all know how the Hawk ended up. Although it could be argued the document provided by Evontroy goes a bit far, I would commend them for the amount of time they spent quantifying their arguments and concerns. I'm not a fan of singling out individuals for criticism in any organization as this can easily turn into a witch hunt and rarely ends in anything constructive. That the Gazelle module is not at the level of the other helo's in DCS should be obvious to anyone who is trying to look at this impartially. I hope Polychop can admit the product's shortcomings and do something about them, that would be the sign of a company who cares about quality, accuracy and its customers. -
I believe you can use any radio station to home to on the ARK-UD, if you read the manual it will tell you how.

You could always use Voice Attack and create a key macro for radar up and down. That's what I've done with a bunch of jester commands available via the jester menu...
-
What commands specifically are you trying to implement? It's quite possible that the Jester AI code overrides some commands especially those that relate to RADAR, this would be intended as it was never foreseen that Jester AI would be running at the same time as a human RIO. Hacks like this often have unintended consequences, that's why the're "hacks"
-
Yes
-
So I've had some PM's requesting help on certain RIO keys, I'm not going to reply to everyone, you need to search the keyboard default lua file for whatever key combo you are looking for and copy that across to the pilot... e.g if you're looking for a radar command, search for "RADAR" and look for lines that start with "{combos = {{key =" If you can't figure this out, you probably shouldn't be editing lua config files...just saying... ;)

Before we start talking about repairing the runway... wouldn't it be good to have a runway damaged option to attach a trigger in the mission editor? Currently, the only way to set a trigger if the runway is hit is to create a bunch of bomb in zone conditions which is a pain in the @#$%
-
Thanks for the update @IronMike, It's still the best module out there IMHO

WARNING, this is a semi-rant, I have not included a track file and I won't because: a) The track replay and outcome changes every time b) The problems I'm describing are generic I'm tired, I spent 3 hours last night trying to get a flight of AI Tornados' s to carry out a SEAD mission in a semi-realistic way. Two flights, one a three-ship and the other a two-ship engaging two sperate SAM units with ALARM missiles. This would appear to be a fairly straight forward task involving asking the aircraft to engage specific groups at a certain WP with ARM missiles. 1) Most of the time at least one wingman will fly into the ground for no apparent reason 2) Both flights end up going for the same target even though they are specifically targeted at separate groups 3) No matter how far out you set the action to engage the group (small line and triangle appear) the AI still flies up to the target, turns around and then comes back in. 4) They can't land... final waypoint is set to the landing airfield, (which incidentally is the one they took off from) they just fly around randomly cycling thier gear and eventually crash Now I know I'll get comments about using "MOOSE", but why should I HAVE to use MOOSE to get things to work the way they should? The AI in DCS is seriously flawed and desperately needs an overhaul, it has done for some time. Rather than have groovy wake turbulence effects and added units, I'd rather they (ED) sort out this ridiculousness. Second rant: Why is there no easy way to create a trigger reacting to runway destroyed or hit? The only way appears to be the bomb in zone method which is: a) Imprecise, bomb needs to be in zone for more than one second, so zone needs to be larger than the runway width b) You need multiple zones all the way down the runway c) You need to specify every type of bomb in the trigger that's likely to be dropped d) If you try and cheat by placing units on the runway (hidden infantry) AI will not take off from the runway because it's blocked Seriously? This is a common scenario Rant over ;) I feel better now, at least until somebody comments about posting a track file or tells me something obvious... LOL
-
The visualization of wake turbulence is cool I agree, the wake turbulence is also great but... I'm sometimes concerned that development priorities are skewed and long-standing issues are not being addressed as a result. In my experience, "feral" LOL ;) developers will do what they think is cool and not necessarily what is in the best interests of the product. Finishing unfinished modules and fixing high priority bugs is what's needed at the moment not increasing technical debt... IMHO

Not possible to rearm/change weapons while engines running
Yeti42 replied to D4n's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think you'll find you only need one engine off, rearm and refuel works for me on the carrier with the left engine shutdown... -
For Nellis see: https://www.airnav.com/airport/KLSV You're looking for TACAN approaches, Minimums are around 600 ft AGL.
-
That was my initial thought, but... It just gives you more time to screw up, it also means you start higher, have to spend a long time managing your glide slope and can't see the deck properly from a long way out if your on speed and on glideslope. It would also "annoy" anybody else trying to land... ;) That doesn't make any sense, gear and flaps will affect your trim and AOA, you'd have to trim for AOA again after you got dirty You just need to get "ahead of the jet" and be proactive in anticipating the effects of profile changes. If you're expecting a nose up moment after levelling off or flaps, then hold the stick forward until you've had time to trim it out. Basically the pattern puts you in a place where you should be on speed at the correct height, on roughly the correct course where a 3.5 degree glide slope puts you on the deck. The hornet is simple to get on AOA compared to the Tomcat, in both though practice makes perfect and being ahead with anticipated throttle settings and trim eventually becomes second nature. The same principles apply to GA aircraft.

I agree with almost everything else you say but not this... DCS is a fun simulation and is intended to be. Some would also argue that it's a "simulation game" in that you can achieve goals, score points etc. and is not used as purely a training tool. (In the version we have) I wouldn't play DCS if I didn't get any enjoyment out of it., that's the point, isn't it... On a more agreeable note :) Making the sim simpler rather defeats the point, I too am a casual player, I have a life and a demanding job which requires most of my attention, I still find time to read the manuals and practice in order to achieve a goal, that could be refuelling or it could be doing a non-precision approach in crappy weather.

Why are the most unrealistic servers the most popular?
Yeti42 replied to Boris's topic in Multiplayer
Agree with you totally, which is why I set up my own dedicated server with sandbox type missions, realistic as possible, no FC aircraft, only jets, weapons only restricted by what you can load, SRS if you want to use it, LoTATC if you want to use it.... problem is I don't get many people on it. -
I've not worked on F14's, I have worked on many other aircraft with radar... It IS SOP for crew to switch off the radar after landing even though most aircraft have Weight On Ground (WOG) or weight on wheels switches which are meant to inhibit radar emissions as well as the inadvertent firing of weapons and stores jettison. Instances of WOG switch failure are rare on the flight line but have occurred. If we found radar switches in emit (ON) during an after flight servicing, the crew were told to come back, make it safe and apologise. This was usually followed by an "interview" with the senior engineering officer and the sqn commander.

You could always use voice attack and ask Jester to do it that way.... "Jester, dump the tanks". I have "Jester" as a prefix and "dump the tanks", pickle tanks", "drop tanks" as a suffix which is mapped to the correct sequence of keybinds, works a treat...

Last night was the first fight in the F14 after the beta update. I'm now able to pull 9g+ instantaneous without the wings falling off! this is a game-changer.
