  1. Regardless, currently you can pick up another F16 at 100nm. That is AWG-9 levels of radar... I also provided a nifty research paper on the (v)9 and even subsequent AESA (second response).
  2. Yep. Alpha textures are totally borked since 2.5.6 got introduced.
  3. Maybe, just maybe he'll rather wait for the *FREE* Heatblur carriers and see how ED's ships are supported after release to then decide if he wants the extra features that those offer. If the 18 and 16 are anything to judge EA and post-launch support then most of us are in for another wild ride. :pilotfly:
  4. Every jet is like that in DCS. Well, most US 4th gens at least.
  5. Apparently the Grim Reapers are testing it
  6. On Steam you can absolutely refund it. ;-)
  7. +1 it's gotten really quiet.
  8. This is known. Should be a simple texture fix/rework but low prio. currently.
  9. Enemy needs a clear IFF as hostile - ROE's and hostile criteria are waaaay more complicated in real life than that. If there is a furrball of friendlies and unknowns then you probably dont wanna shoot anyway. You can also select a particular target at X range from the Jester menu. Personally I never had any issues with that.
  10. Yep, scored some 50km hits like that, high and fast launch, turn cold. Dude flies into it.
  11. Dont tell him to lock an enemy as that requires positive hostile IFF. Lock closest contact will usually lock what you want. Just give it time, you'll get used to it and find it pretty intuitive after a while.
  12. The reason why the F14 in DCS can outturn a Viper is because in DCS dudes bend and overstress the airframe to get the kill, departing the envelope and disregarding operational limitations - something there is no data or EM charts on. Ever.
  13. Yep, all lights are still messed up in 2.5.6. Massive step back.
  14. It is. The APG-68v5 they modelled performs like an AESA. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/337985199_On_the_use_of_AESA_Active_Electronically_Scanned_Array_Radar_and_IRST_InfraRed_SearchTrack_System_to_Detect_and_Track_Low_Observable_Threats You shouldnt be able to pick up a 29 or another 16 past about 40nm.
  15. I think it's already fixed internally but is being held back by ED's update policy.
  16. What do you mean not currently the case in DCS? You can do just about that in the current 29S.
  17. If you look at images online almost all of them seem to have yaw strings.
  18. First they'd have to update the R-27 family (CFD it like the Sparrow).Adding a 77-1 could also be viable but that missiles is just way too new and too little is known about it. 29A/S and Flanker S/P are fine if done properly.
  19. Again, I want SME input and not some random images from the internet that dont specify the engine (RWR and instruments did get changed later on in the A's). Here's an example of the proper F110-GE-400 engine instruments.
  20. Would sure be pretty cool to have since most (if not nearly all) Tomcats seemed to have them.
  21. That doesn't prove anything, it's just some random low quality images showing "spot the difference". The GE's have a more digital engine control while the TF30's use a hydromechanical system. I'd gladly hear from some SME to prove me wrong but I am pretty sure I am 99,5% right on this one.
  22. Explain yourself.
  23. Probably not added yet, like 95% of other subsystems.
  24. Nope. Cant have GE's with TF30 instruments, that aint happenin.
