  1. Of course you wouldn't get 90fps on a clean (you mean a fresh installation of the OS?) box. Like I said, the OS is one thing, the software you use another, hardware the last. ED already stated a few times there's a lot (a LOT!) of legacy code. That's the problem with all (good) simulators (wether it's racing of flying or whatever), a simulator houses a lot of different technologies, real world data, often using an in-house developed engine, which get upgraded in due time, in steps. Rewriting a sim every few years in order to reach maximum optimization in all circumstances is just not feasable for most of those companies. If what people in here claim is true, we would see significant leaps in fps after every new GPU/CPU iteration release. And we don't, we can read it everywhere, the complaining. Think why that is. ;) If one's aim with a 3090 is to solve all fps-related problems one has with a 2080ti, I think they'll be dissapointed. But like I said. People are people and they are not rational, but rather emotional. That's why marketing works. People are easy to manipulate, unfortunately. They're expecting miracles. :)
  2. Right now a CV1, Reverb G2 in preorder. Running on a GTX1080 and have no problems regarding fps. Runs on high settings, MSAA 2x, pixel density 1.3, 50-55ish fps on average.
  3. 9 out of 10 times software is the problem. Hardware nowadays is unbelievably powerful. It's just a combination of tuning the OS, and optimization of the software. First one can be influenced, second one depends on the developer of said software. With regards to tuning your OS, there are a lot of things one can do with Windows to make it run faster, besides the usual tips you can find on forums like these. Granted you have to do some research because you can't just shut down random Windows services or indexing routines and such, but when you dedicate some time investigating and testing there's a whole world to be gained. Optimizing the software, since ED is already working on Vulkan I wouldn't expect much optimizations within the current engine. Sure, if there will be some optimizations announced within the current engine, that's good but not a garantee it benefits every system because every system is differently configured, regardless of hardware used. In my experience, when people say they've tuned their OS that just means 'no, not beyond the standard practices'. To be clear, I don't say this to blame anyone because as I said, you need to do some research. Hardware upgrades should be last on anyone's list. Usually it's the other way around. Because people are people. ;)
  4. Man, that looks great. Wonder why you guys didn't choose to design and produce a throttle with this kind of quality and finish (looks are fantastic if you ask me!). If you make a throttle like that I'm the first one who buys it! :)
  5. If you already have issues with performance in DCS and have a 2080ti already, I wouldn't expect a big leap after throwing in a 3090. Fix your pc first, I would say.
  6. I never noticed it in the Huey. I did in the P-47D though, that prop doesn't look right in VR (rift, don't know about other VR goggles).
  7. You just got a warning already. Just stop this.
  8. IMO there's absolutely no need for realtime weather because there simply is no real use for it. Even if one creates a historically accurate mission in DCS, the weather at the time would probable be known hence you can configure the mission so it would recreate those weather conditions with a dynamic weather engine within the new weather system.
  9. Can we get some more details? Like which clouds, how many layers, precipitation, etc. :)
  10. Looks great. Will be a very welcome addition which enhances immersion. :)
  11. May I ask what that Kanttorin Kone is priced at? :)
  12. True, but he also said he already owns the Supercarrier. Carrier Ops require training as much as CAS in the Warthog does. ;)
  13. Another addition: Immersion and realism, especially in VR. Imagine flying through various layers of clouds. I for one would very much appreciate some WIP images. :)
  14. Hornet, because of carrier ops. Just adds an extra dimension to it.
  15. Agreed, draconus. DCS has the best flightmodels of them all. An AC-208 would be cool! 16. For me the difference between MSAA off or 2x has always been pretty massive, like you describe, in perspective. VR-user by the way. Even so. :)
  17. Since the Syria map is great, maybe this? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=258890
  18. Honestly? Nothing. When I first flew the Hornet I wanted to try a landing like Wags did in his , it seemed so simple. But man I struggled. A lot. So it's just you need to practice more. And then some. It'll come, just be patient and keep practicing. ;) Also, what helped me a lot was this excellent video from Lex Talionis, former F/A-18C pilot. :)
  19. Yes, convenience, and elegance in simplicity. ;)
  20. Well, I've been thinking long about this, and decided to finally post this in the Wishlist section. I think it would come in handy when everything you've entered in the briefing in the ME, will be transferred to a kneeboard upon entering the mission. That way you can access necessary information without ESC'ing the sim. This is with VR in mind, so you don't have to jump through many hoops to get information you want/need. :)
  21. This is gonna be my first paid campaign! Looking forward to it. Really like not every mission will be shoot-em-up style.
  22. Oh those night shots look awesome! Great work. Very glad I pre-ordered. :D I'm a sucker for the night in general, everything looks so much better at night. And this looks great, I can't wait. :)
  23. Personally I think so. It's also more natural because of normal head movement, so it makes it easier to keep things in your sight. In fact, it makes a lot of things much easier and more natural because you have depth perception. :) But hey, everyone has his/her own prefs.
