  1. Ok, so. Been away quite a while due to health issues. Now I'm back, ready to fly again with a new pc too. Have DCS working as it should, but Vaicom doesn't work. The problems I'm having are listed in the FAQ on these forums. I sincerely hope someone will be able to help me out, would be much appreciated since I'm stuck. - PTT page shows EASY COMMS ON while set to OFF in DCS options Cause | Easy Comms setting forced by mission design Remedy | Mission Editor -> No joy, option wasn't set within the mission. Cause | Lua install problem Remedy | See below -> No joy. I've got full security/admin acces to the DCS main folder and it's subfolders. As well as Saved Games/DCS folder and subfolders. - Module name not shown on PTT page Symptom | Not functioning after DCS update Cause | Faulty lua install due to incorrect or missing DCS path in Windows registry Remedy | Set DCS program files path with Custom Path option (Config tab) -> tried that, path is correctly set and also in the registry, no joy. Remedy | Fix DCS install path in Windows registry (use fix reg option on Options tab) -> Registry path is correct. Cause | Windows account has insuffficient access right Remedy | Check Windows UAC / antivirus allows R/W acccess to program files folders -> Checked, all useraccess is correctly set, I have admin privileges on all related DCS folders and subfolders, as I already stated above. Anyone has other ideas I can try? I'm stuck and don't know what else there is to try.
  2. He's right you know. I for one could care less for another sandbox. We have Syria, Persian Gulf and NTTR. All of them mostly covered with sand (with the exception maybe of Syria, it has more variation).
  3. Wild guess: maybe set the radar as SOI first? I haven't mapped those buttons so don't know if this is the solution. I just use the mouse.
  4. 6 hours is by far not long enough to properly assess if you like an aircraft or not. At least in my opinion. So go and fly some more first. You just can't expect to learn a modern combat aircraft in an hour or so. Nobody can.
  5. This discussion is just beaten to death already. And you guys are discussing about it like DCS is a game. Which it's not. It's a study sim, in which there is a multiplayer option. In a way every aircraft in DCS is a sim in itself, they all just live under the umbrella that is called DCS World. At least that's how I see it.
  6. Looks hilarious to be honest.
  7. I absolutely would pay for an updated (more recent) version. Although I think it would be reasonable if ED would just update the texture on the existing model.
  8. Agreed. Along with some templates, so we can fill an airport with the click of a button, in stead of messing about for hours in the ME, while most of us wouldn't even know how to fill a military base properly.
  9. Right, missed that, thanks! But it seems more like a bugfixing update, not so much a feature addition. Both are necessary, but we're in the 'Clouds' subforum, hence my initial response.
  10. Don't think there will be an update today, but I could be mistaken.
  11. Well, then I guess the F-5E is your pick?
  12. Thanks for the clarification mate. And no need to apologize, we're all friends here ain't we?
  13. I never said anything about proof for this or that. I merely stated I would only buy ground crews for AFBs. Nothing more, nothing less. What other people want or don't want isn't my concern.
  14. Yep, me too. Airfield Assets Pack, which has some animated elements to make the airfields feel more alive, day one buy! Ground assets, nah, not for me.
  15. I love the Hornet. Probably the most of all the modules I own. ED did a fantastic job with it, and still are.
  16. My cat does the same thing if she can. So I had to cover every single cable in my house from her, including my driving/flying rig. I use rubber mats for cables on the side of the rig near the floor, made a few covers for the equipment itself, and setup other stuff so she can't even reach the cables (behind cabinets and such). It was a puzzle because I didn't know how inventive and persuasive she would get, but I managed to cover/shield everything. And on the plus side, my rig looks really clean without this jungle of cables visible.
  17. Not official, but highly entertaining by the VFA-113 Stingers!
  18. Agree. F/A-18C would be my choice. Very versatile and carrier capability.
  19. Maybe I should've told people buying the biggest gpu won't necessarily give you the biggest performance. Oh wait, I did tell people but I was told I was wrong. More than once. The stuttering in DCS, wether it's a map or a plane or a mission/campaign, it's on DCS' side, which Kate Perederko explained a few times. Legacy code and whatnot. Not to pee in your punch but still. Don't let marketing from NVidia-like companies fool you next time mate.
  20. Main thing with VR is depth perception, sense of speed, that sort of thing. Not the graphics.
  21. I first discovered DCS through this video, from Belgeode. I was 'searching' for a combat flight sim ever since I flew EF2000, but then life got in the way until shortly before I found Belgeode's vids. Started watching a few more of these, although at the time I only had a Mac and not a lot to spend. A little after that I found out the F-15C was what was called a low-fidelity model, i.e. no cockpit interaction. And I was looking for full fidelity, my interest was in how these machines work and not so much battlefield aspects. I kept on watching DCS videos every now and then. Few years later, I saw the start-up procedure for the F/A-18C Hornet, Wags his 3rd vid on the Hornet. And after a friend brought his freshly purchased Oculus Rift, I knew I wanted to fly this Hornet. Started saving up, bought a PC and a HOTAS, the F/A-18C and been here ever since. Almost 3yrs now I guess, not as long as some of you.
