  1. More ipads in the cockpit?...no thank you. I'll take steam gauges please
  2. I agree with the above quote except for the "enfield " part. Actually, it should show the callsign of each element as entered into the ME under "Pilot". 5 letters and two numbers max if you want realism.
  3. Well you wouldn't lock up a friendly. You might see him on radar and use that and verbal cues initially, but at some point you are going to have to use your mark 1, mod 0 eyeballs to find him. Tacan is also usable. Tankers use TACAN Y which gives bearing only. And you don't want to microwave your buddies in the other plane. On the more modern birds you can just use the datalink. Part of flight training is night flying. There you learn how to look for things. It's a skill that can be developed. Also finding things with your eyes in the daytime is also a skill which needs to be developed. Try spotting the other aircraft when they are just dots. You get better at it over time.
  4. I will be happy if it comes unarmed. I just want to fly an F1
  5. I have programmed many MOOSE scripts for my missions. I think MOOSE, as it stands today, is a bit bloated. Plus the guy who wrote it is not around anymore. An alternative is to just write the code for what you want. It's not all that hard. And it's good fun to learn LUA and make something work.
  6. 7 zip works nicely with .miz
  7. Good to see older jets coming online!
  8. Deleted....I think this horse has been beat enough
  9. We had a little trouble with the L-39 on that taxiway. Maybe they could just make the berm a bit lower.
  10. As far as head tracking goes, I am quite happy with my Tobii eye Tracker. I have always used TrackIR. But my mark 1 mod 0 eyeballs and progressive lenses aren't happy with the head angles necessary for TrackIR. The Tobii lets me see everything clearly because it tracks my head and eyes. I love it. (I only upgraded to Tobii after my old TrackIR actually died....I used it up) Also, if you are going to build a new machine, get the best motherboard and processor, you can. I highly recommend the X570 and Ryzen combinations. 32GB memory is a minimum going forward. DCS and the maps are getting more detailed.
  11. World Airpower Journal were great magazines. There was also a video equivalent of sorts that came out on VHS back in the 80's, or late 90's. Those were good shows but I don't know what they were called or even if you can find them today. Eagerly awaiting the Mirage F1........
  12. Berm in image labeled "bad berm" is too close to the taxiway.
  13. Well, I showed images and videos. I don't know what else to say. People generally turn down graphic settings to improve VR performance. I think your VR problems might be due to your graphic settings. Those reflections are pretty low-res to begin with. So, my take is this. If you have to run lower graphic settings to use VR, and then things look bad, well that's on you. It looks fine at higher res.
  14. I just flew the L-39 and I don't see an issue. Maybe the reflections could be more detailed. But I think they are done well. Reflections typically fade in and out. They don't usually change much. They just get brighter or dimmer. And the DCS ones do move a bit. I observed that in the gunsight in the L-39C. And whomever said that the gunsight was useless was totally exaggerating. The tiny reflections in the gunsight barely influence anything. I like the way the reflections show up at times. Your car windshield is different material with a dark interior due to the car shell. It doesn't reflect as much. Also, you don't have thick glass for a hud or gunsight in your car (at least I hope not).
  15. I am interested in knowing how one would cheat in the Su25T. I did not know this was a problem
  16. IRL reflections are every bit as visible as in-game, maybe more so at night. You cannot compare the reflections on a curved canopy to your car windshield. They are not the same. And they are definitely not like dirt on your glasses...lol Honestly, I don't think any amount of evidence will convince you that the sim is actually less "reflective" than the real world. I have many hours of flight time in the real world and I think ED did a good job. Personally, I don't want to fly an arcade jet with perfectly clear windows.
  17. I guess you guys wouldn't like to fly in the real thing then...
  18. I would like to say that I love the little Yak having only just recently purchased her. And I am sure the BigNew guy is doing what he can. I also understand that the team is fixing up some of our older assets like the B-52 and S-3. With the upcoming MB-339 and Mirage F-1 releases, I hope ED realizes that there is a core of us guys who love the older birds. For us it's not about how many spamrams and GPS glide bombs we can punch off from 20 miles. We appreciate the immersion of flying something on the PC that has a storied past, steam gauges, and requires a little skill to operate. Please ED give some attention to the little YAK (and the other older modules which we love so dearly).
  19. you crack me up...seriously? lol
  20. Thank you for that Jayhawk. I got big smile from that one. Well played sir!
  21. I forgot to mention that the data I gathered in the previous post was in the L-39 in Syria. I just got the video card this week. So I haven't done a lot of testing yet. I ran another one here doing the Su25T freeflight in Mineralnye scenario. It's about the same as the Syria ones. I think my setup allows me to go ahead and turn up some settings before it starts to drop off. I need to experiment with that. I haven't touched the Radeon settings either. Here is data from the Su25T instant action free flight in Mineralnye. 20220112-203807.CSV 20220112-203807.FrameTime you can open the frametime file with a text editor
  22. I agree with Bosco about 1440p at the present time. I can only assume that the difference at 4K between these cards will diminish somewhat with driver updates over time. Anyway, the 6800XT is actually closer to a 3090 for 1440p, which is what I do. It's important to have a good CPU and a PCIE4 motherboard in order to enable SAM (resizable BAR in UEFI bios). My Radeon settings are default with SAM enabled. Monitor is an Asus VG32V. Attached are a couple of Excell spread sheets showing some performance logging today on Syria. Both runs were the exact same scenario and same viewpoint but with slightly different DCS settings. Runs 1 and 2. DCS "High" preset with lens flare and dirt, shadows low, MSAA 4x, and AF 16. 20220112-125521.CSV20220112-132757.CSV Run 3. DCS "High" preset with lens flare and dirt. 20220112-125709.CSV If I run these logs over longer periods, I typically see between 90-150 FPS in Syria. I don't recall ever seeing anything less than 95 with my mark 1 mod 0 eyeballs. All that matters to me is that it's a nice smooth flight. I like missions with lots of stuff and lots of weather. So this is a good system for me. Switching from the 1080ti to the 6800XT on my particular rig pretty much doubled my frames in DCS. I am sure a 5800X processor will add a few percent to the mix. The motherboard and chip can both handle reizable BAR or SAM. I think turning on SAM (on Asus you have to do this in the bios. They call it "resizable BAR") got me an extra 10 or so FPS over not having it on.
  23. I recently switched from the GTX1080ti to the AMD 6800XT. My system is in the signature. This is typical performance on Syria. Sometimes I see 90-ish FPS. Mostly it's 100+. DCS settings are basically just the stock "High" preset with lens dirt and flare and rain drops on. Radeon settings are default with SAM enabled.

    Thank you

Just wanted to say thanks for implementing the integrated voice chat feature. I have been waiting a long time for this.
