The problem with youtube tutorials is that most of them are not very well done. With more people making videos, the quality of those videos is getting worse. That being said, Heatblur had some awesome videos for their F-14 prior to its launch. They were entertaining, informative, edited well, and just made you want to fly the bird. Present day video creators should go back and watch the Heatblur videos. Synching some music to black screens transitions with zoomed-in shots is not what I want to see. I want to see the bird doing something. I want to see a story and hear some technical info about the subject. Film making is more than just pushing out "content". I remember the days when software came with nice bound manuals that you could use for reference. Today, technology allows us to forgo the printed matter. But a quality manual is still a necessity. This is especially true in the realm of API documentation.

Model Request: NITKA sky jump for CATOBAR carrier takeoff training
Zeagle replied to CTR's topic in DCS Modding
I have tried it with the Su33. It works fine. -
head tracking problem , any got a solution ?
Zeagle replied to swaps's topic in New User Briefing Room
I have used all the TrackIR's for many years. My tobii is better than TIR in my opinion. I thought it was 6dof. It captures head movement as well as rotations and tilt. It also does eye tracking. I have found with the sensitivity settings at about 50% or about 2.5 on the sliders, I have a really natural-feeling movement with no lag. I think I have much better range of motion than with TIR. Plus I don't have to have anything on my head. Edit. If I run the sliders all the way up on the settings in Tobii Game Hub, then I get a really jittery experience. Too low and it's too slow for flying. I make sure to have head tracking, eye tracking, and head movement enabled. Maybe I should do a video. -
Aerges thank you for such a wonderful module! The 3d modeling, animation, sounds, flight modeling...everything is very professional. I think you have set a new standard for modules in DCS.

SU-25UTG trainer landing on Admiral Kuznetsov
Zeagle replied to -0303-'s topic in Su-25 for DCS World
A two seat Su-25 and/or a naval version would be a dream come true. I have been asking for a UTG version for a while. But I would settle for any full module Su-25. REDFOR really needs a full module Mig-29, Su-27, and Su-25. The naval version Su-25 would really make for some great scenarios.- 5 replies

I can't get Russian soldiers to embark either. I have been using BTR80's and BTR-82A's.

F-14A of 70's Vs F-14A of 90's Vs F-14A Iranian
Zeagle replied to Satarosa's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Reference rivet counting In my career, I have rarely found any airplane that completely matches the factory spec for the model. Almost all of them have had something changed. Military birds come out of the factory pretty much the same. But soon after they all get changed. This is something that you come up against when you start 3D modelling and researching. At some point you just have to make a decision and model it. This gets even harder when all you have access to are museum models. These models usually are a mashup of parts. I think Heat Blur did a great job with the Tomcat. -

Not intending to hijack the thread, but I highly recommend the Tobii Eye Tracker. You don't hear much about it here. I used the TIR5 for years until mine died. The Tobii does head tracking and eye tracking. Plus , with my progressive lenses, I can now see all my instruments clearly. I use it with an Asus 32in TUF Gaming monitor -
1 year + later. I have been trying to use the DCS.getMissionName() function to no avail. I suppose something is blocking it. Perhaps I have to be running as server? Proper SSE documentation would be appreciated.

She still got it...I hope it never gets taken away...
Zeagle replied to Boosterdog's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I was not a helicopter guy. But the Mi-8 converted me. It is pretty much my favorite helicopter after the Mi-24. -
1.3 VSO +10 kept me alive flying other types. On windy days I have seen wind shear of +-15 knots low over trees. It's good to carry a few extra knots on such days.

I don't use the controls indicator popups. I find them unnecessary and annoying.

Dedicated Server on a second machine ?
Zeagle replied to Heroman30's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have noticed definite improvements when running a complex mission on a separate dedicated server machine over running single player or client-server on same machine. -
Redkite makes some great documentary videos. However, much like the Daytona 500, I have yet to finish one of them while still awake . But I am sure the A2G video will be great. Keep them coming.

I really wish ED would just give the community a clear and concise community mod API. I too want to develop models for DCS. But there is so much hacking and guessing going on. I will not start a major project without a documented API. Is there an API for community modders?

They (ED) think that the FC3 planes being able to hear all channels at once is a feature. I think it's something that should be selectable. Just put a check box item in the special tab or something to select whether you want to hear all channels or a specific channel. FC3 planes need to be able to use the radios like other planes. OR, how about just making full modules for the FC3 birds. They all deserve to be full modules anyway.

Eagle Dynamics should modernize the APA-5D Ural 4320 as well as give us some tow bars and other ramp items. I also once used the Virpil mod. Now I am inclined to build these things myself. But that will take a while. However, lack of an official API for modding these things puts a damper on community mods.

I don't think they have all that much say Skate.

Takeoff feels better in the Yak. Landings appear to be better too.

I don't think balanced is more fun. It's arcade like. If DCS ever goes "balanced", then I am out.

one of my favorites.

Which motherboard? Also I don't know how well the 3070 does at VR.
