  1. What i want to see is the turn leading up to the break.
  2. Can you put a bookmark on that moment and then upload the actual tacview file?
  3. I think the question here is, "If the RIO is the only one with access to the ECM controls, then why is there a keybinding for ECM available to the pilot?" I need to be at my computer to be able to play around with it and find out what that binding actually does. That's the issue being looked at here.
  4. I'll do testing when i get home. We'll figure this out! :)
  5. I can't find anything either. Maybe it's a bindable jester command? Cannot test at the moment. I can tell you that the indicators for the jammer's status are in the RIO pit, on the DECM panel.
  6. ECM causes your plane to emit a lot of radar noise. Theoretically this makes you very visible to enemy radar but denies them the ability to measure your range because your own noise overwhelms the enemy's radar return. Basically, if it works then the enemy will be able to easily tell what direction you're coming from, but won't be able to tell how far away you are. I've read that the ECM module in the tomcat is basically useless, and I'm not sure how well ECM is modeled in DCS anyway
  7. IRL, the aircrew communicates with the ground crew using hand signals. Since we have no hand signals in DCS, we talk to the chief using the headset hookup in the nose wheel well.
  8. You didn't do ACM with the turn performance charts open on your kneeboard?
  9. I would like to make a suggesiton. It would be great if we had a closed and stickied thread that you guys use to list all of the reported, logged and tracked bugs so that we have a single place to read all the known issues currently brought to your attention, and then have the, removed from the lost as they are resolved. You could also list all the common issues that are reported as bugs but are actually features, likes flaps breaking from rough landings. The list could be updated on the same schedule as the game’s updates. This would give us a single, official place to check wether an issues has already been brough to your attention, and might help cut down om the many repeated bug reports. Keep up the fantastic work!
  10. They still do, but the cross doesn’t move with it anymore. It marks the scan centerpoint. Apparently an SME told HB that this is more accurate
  11. IIRC, it prevents the aircraft from fighting you when you use the rudder to roll.
  12. These things already happen in DCS. The pilot starts making noises at about 4 g, and the screen starts to go black in between 6 and 7 g. I've blacked out in the tomcat more times than I've ripped off the wings. Does your pilot not black out in other planes?
  13. The second and third missiles lost track because of the chaff. Also: the target did not notch. read my second comment on the last page :)
  14. IIRC, they're positioned so that the pilot can see hand signals from the RIO in case of ICS comms failure.
  15. Ah, okay. Yeah you definitely just need to feel out the missile's best range. Especially against a super maneuverable fighter like the Su-27. The first missile is constantly changing its g-load, so it isn't losing track. There's no trouble with how you're using the radar, he's just outflying the missile. It was constantly changing its intercept trajectory, so it lost energy very quickly to the point where you actually flew further than it did. You fired from too far away, and he had more than enough room to maneuver. If you never lost track, then I'm not 100% sure what happened with that second launch. It pulled 9 g in one direction, then immediately pulled 12 g in the other direction, then gave up. Looks to me like it might have picked up a radar reflection from all the chaff he was dropping, and guided on the wrong target. The more I watch it, the more i'm sure that's what happened. The third launch definitely tried to hit a chaff bundle. In the tacview you can see exactly which one it went for. I tried to reproduce your scenario. I'll attach another tacview file. Edit: another slight technicality: if you maintained lock the entire time then the target never notched. He maneuvered to defend, but he never successfully entered your notch filter. (I've also been editing as I notice new things in the tacview. Hope it all helps.) tacview.zip
  16. Does he have any targets locked in stt or tws?
  17. You need to position yourself for a good launch. Keep stt lock, and fly yourself so that when you fire, the missile doesn’t have to steer too much to intercept the target. Remember the AIM7 is a bit ancient, and it’s not powered by magic. You just gotta practice with it until you get a feel for its capabilities. Can you post a tacview file?
  18. Read the latest patch notes
  19. That’s a fantastic idea. I’ll have to try that
  20. 1. Open the mission in the editor 2. select your flight, and edit your first waypoint 3. select "advanced waypoint options" and click ADD 4. Type: set option; Action: formation; choose your formation from the drop-down, then the variant as "group close" After that you can order them about as usual, tell them to anchor or engage bandits and such and they'll return to the close form when you say rejoin, but if you order them to "open formation" then you can't get them to close again.
  21. You can order "group close" formations by setting them in the mission editor, but for some reason you can't order your flight to close up in gameplay.
  22. I'm barely qualified to give you this advice, but since no one else answered... You need to work on your defence. Read up on flat scissors. In that first fight, you clearly lost track of him for a bit, but at about 3:03 if you'd turned back into him instead of putting the nose up and climbing again you would have won.
  23. Here's an idea for the thread: can we post tacview files and get critiques on them?
  24. Is the target co-speed in rear aspect? If so the radar can't see it in PD mode.
  25. Nine times out of ten, when i eject from the 14 the after action report says “pilot dead”
