  1. The best argument against a trim reset button is what happens with the Hind, Hip, Huey and especially the Ka-50. Hit the reset button while trimmed for level flight and the bird will nose-up and stall. That's not what the reset button is for. I only use the reset on these birds when touching down. Any leftover trim applied will make The Hind tip over because of it's narrow main gear so resetting trim immediately after landing allows the bird to settle in and not tip over. With the Kamov, Hip and Huey I release the trim only on final, at very low speed and have no trim applied when I touch down. With the Apache you do a gradual retrimming on approach and by the time you land, you are almost back to center. No need for a reset button.
  2. Hi Dweeb, I'm not getting any sound with my Bell-47. I asked Hawkeye and he suggested trying your latest version, but no joy. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks
  3. I get the same thing. No sound. Any other suggestions?
  4. Does anyone know what the "Stabilator" is and does it relate to trimming? I tried using it and it seemed to have a mild effect of keeping things a bit more stable, but I'm not sure if it was really doing something or was it my imagination?
  5. @Hawkeye60 As of the last update, 2.7.11 there is no sound from the Bell 47. All I hear is the wind. The Little Bird sounds just fine, but not the Bell.
  6. You may be right. Edit: I usually migrate directly to the main folder, right click+enter on Bin Folder and PS opens directly. I'm too lazy to type out the full address.
  7. This is pretty close to what I've been doing. I need to keep an eye on the controls indicator though. (Ctrl+Enter) That way I can see exactly where I am with the cyclic since when in straight and level flight, the pitch is quite far forward. In order to not lose control, I slow down by pulling back on the stick then re trim. Slow down some more and re trim. By the time I'm on final approach, the stick is almost back to center and I can then hover and land pretty good. (Most of the time) My main problem is rocking back and forth. I have tried several different curves and dead zones with no luck. I guess I just have to keep practicing, but that back and forth wobbling is annoying.
  8. V17 fixed it for me. Thanks for all of your hard work. Ray
  9. @draconus you forgot to tell him .\ first., so it's .\DCS_Updater.exe update @openbeta or .\DCS_Updater.exe update 2.7.11.21408.1 It won't work without the "dot backslash" first
  10. WHY?? It sounds just like a CH-47 now. Why on earth would you want it to sound like a Huey?
  11. I don't know. Have no need to try it. At least 100 Gb. More if you have a lot of modules and maps. Mine is 271 Gb + another 308 Gb in my Saved Games folder. (I have a lot of user mods. )
  12. DCS is anything but easy and quick. Shortly after 2.7 was released, I tried to download 2.5.6 and you are right, it has been removed from the server. IDK if they have put it back up though.
  13. Bump: Since November 2021 this was reported, but not fixed. Very frustrating especially when spawning or landing on a destroyer with a small pad.
  14. Hi, I've been meaning to ask for a long time now, what happened to the audible notification bell on the forum? A bell tone used to sound if someone quoted you or sent you a message. I haven't heard it in a while, and I can't seem to find a setting for it. thanx, Ray
  15. Yes, it is, but once you make a template, it is there for you to start a new mission whenever you like and use over and over again, so at least for me, it is worth the effort and the time it takes. To make a template 1 - Click start new mission. Select map and coalitions 2 - Place objects and assets wherever you like. 3 - Go to: Edit/Save as Static Template/Name it and save. To use them, go to Edit/Open Static Template and build your mission. All of your previous hard work such as parked aircraft, airfield and deck equipment will already be there. Do not re-save as a template unless you want to edit it. Simply save as a new mission. Templates are map specific. You can't use one on Caucasus that you made on Persian Gulf for example. While it is called a static template, you don't have to only use static objects. You can include AI flights and other assets you want to fly. You can also use .lua scripts such as "Random Air Traffic" as well. Whatever you save as a template will stay as a template. Yes, just as I described above. Static templates are not just static. You can make a whole mission a template should you choose, or limit it to just things like airfield and deck equipment, parked aircraft, etc. Whatever you like, but it is labor intensive. I have some with parked aircraft on every airport, so that wherever I fly, it looks like someone is home.
  16. Hmmm, I think I know what it might be. My missions are about a year old, They were created with dynamic weather long before the new clouds were released and I also noticed that I still have 2.5.6 water effects with white caps on every wave. My bad.
  17. @FlappieI have rain in some of my missions, but only on the windscreen. Rain is not visible in external views. It's been like that for a very long time.
  18. The vanilla clouds when you start a mission without the ME are so light that they shouldn't be a problem. Still sounds more like a potato problem than anything else. I'm still running a 10 year old AMD FX series CPU, on DDR3 memory and a $300 1660Ti card. My clouds are set for ultra and my machine handles them really well.
  19. What @Flappie said. You need to go to the ME to do it.
  20. If clouds are killing your frames, then maybe you need a better machine. Just sayin'. Clouds are the least of my problems. They don't affect my frames at all and I have a weak machine.
  21. I think what you mean is "Comms Menu" Backslash \ on the ground - RAlt+\ in the air.
  22. The follow command is new for helos to follow ships. It was introduced sometime in December or January, I think.
  23. What @Flappie said. The change occurred a few updates back.
