  1. ED is not splitting the community! This is a tired argument. Allow me to clarify. MP servers are privately run. ED doesn't have anything to do with how they are managed. A private server can require any modules or assets they want. It's their business, not ED's. It's not ED's fault that you can't join a particular server just because you won't or can't spend the money to buy the WWll package. ED makes their money and pays their bills by selling products. The WWll asset pack is one of the many products that they sell. @BIGNEWY, @NineLine and others have made it abundantly clear that no one is forcing you to buy or not buy any their products. You get two free planes and two free maps to start and anything else you may want costs money, so stop blaming ED for your problem. And now, back to the topic: Excellent idea. They already give you two free planes so that new people can get a feel for how to fly in DCS. A free helicopter module would definitely be in order and the Bell 47 would be the perfect choice. It's a plain, pure helo with no frills. I would rather have a Korean asset overlap forward into Vietnam to catch up to the Huey, rather than backwards into WWll. The period between the wars is irrelevant. We have the Mig-15 and the F-86 now, so let's move forward from there. As I understand it, there are already plans for more cold war assets in the works so it only makes sense. If you want discounts, do as I do and wait for the next sale. They have many sales every year with plenty of discounts. Most definitely playable.
  2. What we don't have, but need are flyable assets. F4U 5, A2 or 4 Skyraider, and especially F9F Panther. Korea was the first helicopter war, so we would also need at least S-51, H-21, and Bell 47's. The map is irrelevant. Parts of Caucasus, especially the mountains west of Batumi could be a reasonable substitute.
  3. Gee. I must be doing something right. This never happens to me. Once I set my axes and buttons, they remain the same.
  4. ???? A little more detail please. What is the KI? Do you mean AI? Not everyone has the time to watch the mission. A Verble description and a track would be awesome if you want some help.
  5. I am jonesing for a Panther!
  6. Not true. I have them on FARPS. Haven't tried airfields yet, but if they work on FARPS, then should also on airfields. They don't do more than move a little and turn their heads back and forth, but adds a bit of immersion as they are not completely static like little statues.
  7. The SAR version is SH-60B
  8. Yes, before the SC module came out, I used to take off and land on the vanilla Kuz all the time. If you want to use the new HD version, you must own the SC package.
  9. @Flappie Here is what I have discovered so far; 1. Sounds are now there for player placed trains. Civilian trains are silent. 2. When placing the electric locomotive, it shows on F10 map and in game, but not in Ctrl+F12 view. 3. Train wheels are still below grade on Syria, The Channel and Persian Gulf. Thanks for your understanding. Ray
  10. In the meantime, you can take off and land on the old non SC Kuznetsov. As Northstar said above, it must be the active one, not the static one.
  11. Me too..........
  12. Another way to do it is to tell the wingman to RTB and he will leave you alone and let you land first. Or not
  13. Tell me about it! I haven't been able to kill one yet.
  14. Normally if you press LCtrl+F12, you can see and hear them close up. I reported this about 3 four months ago and voila, with the next patch, all of the sound files were there. Horns, whistles, choo choo and clickety clack. They went silent again two updates ago. I hope they fix it and keep it fixed this time. I need them for an upcoming video.
  15. @Flappie As of latest patch 2.7.10.19402 they are still silent.
  16. Try taking off from Hawkinge or Lympne on the Channel map. The Caucasus will feel like butter in comparison.
  17. @spinCycle Don't forget to open the oil cooler as well. LAlt+S to open, LCtrl+S to close. Try not to let the oil temp get too low either. Try to keep it in the middle range by alternately opening and closing the cooler.
  18. F4U is a third-party project, but even if we got it soon, we wouldn't have WWll Marianas, IJN naval and air, WWll allied naval & carriers, etc. It will be a great plane with no place to fly it.
  19. There is a lot you can do with NVCP. Play around with contrast, gamma, brightness, and especially "Digital Vibrance". After adjusting your monitor of course. As for gamma. Use less in NVCP and more in game. I'm running a 32" 1080p monitor with a GTX 1660 Ti, and my game runs and looks great at 50 to 70 FPS. If you are running a 3080 Ti and you only have 50 frames, something is wrong. Here are my NVCP and in game settings. Edit: BTW do not use SSAA and MSAA together. Use only one or the other and at as low a setting you can get. A 3080 Ti should not need much antialiasing. Start at 0 and work your way up until any jaggies are gone. Again, as stated many times above, do not set the time at noon. Two hours after sunrise, or two hours before sunset.
  20. @BIGNEWY @Flappie Since Wednesday's update, the sound files for trains are missing. Silent Trains.trk
  21. Fixed that for you. What may be too complicated for you may not be for me or someone else.
  22. @Vic I subscribe to Sirius XM and they have an awesome music channel called "40's Junction", channel #71. All the great big band music from back in the day, 24/7. Really fits the period. Since I only play SP, all I have to do is turn on XM and let it run in the background. Saves a lot of typing. Perhaps you can find something similar. Now for MP, you will have to follow the above tutorial if you want everyone to hear the music. I also have "Nero Wave Editor" which allows me to re-analog my files and give them a lower fidelity and even add 78 RPM record effects with hiss, clicks and crackle. Really adds to the immersion With the right software, and a little imagination, you will be transported right back to the 40's. Fly safe,
  23. They have done even more since October, especially the initial bow wave. I think it's about 99% better than before. I really hated those triangular bow waves. They were terrible. Water doesn't behave that way. Just need to tweak the trailing wake. Make it a little longer with more white foam.
