@Nomorefly +2 on what @BIGNEWY said. If you want us to help you, you have to give us something more than just a rant to work with. We need details. Bear in mind. VR tech in general is still a work in progress, let alone how DCS uses it. There is no way you are going to get photorealistic quality, high FPS and smooth VR at the same time. I don't care how "badass" your machine may be. There are always limits. Things like Vulcan and Multicore support are being worked on and will soon be implemented into the sim, that will make everyone's VR experience a whole lot better. You must be patient. In the meantime, please take the advice of the many, many VR users who have found ways make it happen. They can make life a whole lot easier for you. In the meantime, do as BigNewy said and provide us with the tools we need to help you. My best advice is before doing anything, open task mgr. and the start tab. Disable all programs and restart your computer. DCS is very sensitive to programs running in the background. What kind of AV are you running? Many 3rd party AV's will bog down your computer. If you haven't bothered to ask anyone in the past 3 years, then now is the time. Ask, don't demand. Be polite. Be open to others suggestions. There are many knowledgeable people in the community that can really help you. Take advantage of their expertise. Remember what your Mother told you, "You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar."

@Captain Orso I did find this one, though not historical because supposedly the 4077th was Korean War and the Huey wasn't in service until 1959. (Unless there really was a M*A*S*H 4077th during Vietnam, IDK) The proper M*A*S*H Helos during Korea would have been the Bell-47 (aka H-13), Sikorsky H-51, or even the Piaseki H-21 "Flying Banana," but the Vietnam era dashboard is way cool. Thanx.

DUH..........There's been one there all along. My bad!
-
Would it be possible to have a medevac skin for the Huey? The user mod for the UH-60L has a nice one.

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
rayrayblues replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
On some choppers, it looks like they added rotor downwash moving the grass, but it disappears when the dust settles down. I don't mind the "dust on grass" since they toned it down to fix the "glow in the dark" issue. It's darker colored and not as intense. -
Come to think of it, you're right. At first, I thought it was kinda' cute, but it's always there in my peripheral vision and after a while, it is a bit distracting.

Ships need formations and a follow command
rayrayblues replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
But, what program are you using?? I don't have anything like that. -

Thanks @Northstar98, but what you show in the video is not what we have in the ME. -

Exactly! I never said that there wasn't room for improvement, just ways to work with what we have. -
Ships need formations and a follow command
rayrayblues replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
@upyr1 They may go wonky in a turn, but usually they will re-group as long as the turn is gradual. Sharp right-angle turns are difficult for multiple units in a group, even aircraft to follow. Try using several waypoints close together to make a curved gradual turn. See if that helps. If not, then perhaps a bug report is in order. -

Place lead ship and waypoints, then add as many as you need just like adding wingman to aircrafts. If the lead ship is a CVN then all ships in the group will be CVN. Change type, drag and reposition them to your hearts desire. Some can be destroyers, Tarawa, Ticonderoga cruisers, etc. They will follow the same waypoints as the lead ship. Then you can add aircrafts to the carriers. To add a SAR helo, place an SH-60 on the carrier and add a follow command from the advanced waypoints linked to the carrier and your ship group is ready to go. -
@BIGNEWY I can now fly neutral UN Choppers in any mission. Thank you very much for adding this.

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
rayrayblues replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
@Taz1004 Love your mod, smoke, fire and ship wakes are awesome. Thank you for fixing the dust issue. I was gonna' make a bug report to you, but version 18 fixed it. -
How do you discover a place when there's already people living there?

I keep wanting to hang my clipboard.

Some of it seems to depend on the module being used. I have noticed that tracks made with older modules such as Su-33, UH-1H etc. are more stable. When I first got the Apache, I wanted to check my landings from an external view but the tracks would break after no more than a minute. User mod tracks are also very bad and break even after a few seconds. @silverdevil You may be right. I have heard that if you have a dedicated server, the tracks are more reliable. Maybe that's how @Growling Sidewinder et al manage to do it.
-
@brucewhf The way I do it is to make many short tracks of the various scenes from takeoff, maneuvers with various camera angles, etc. to landing. I use air start to re-create scenes later in the mission, especially the landing. It all comes down to editing skilz. Tracks under 5 to 10 minutes are best, but they will still break eventually.

Have you tried using the "Dot Neutral" setting under "Markers"? It sure helps my 70+ year old eyes.

From everything I've read, the performance hit mostly affects mechanical hard drives. It's not as noticeable on an SSD, but since it causes more writes, the SSD can "possibly" wear out faster. Maybe you only need a small increase. I would try adding page file 2 to 4Gb's at a time. That way you can reach a point where there's no perf. hit and your game doesn't crash. Trust me, you won't suffer. The actual number of Gb's should be multiplied by 1024. ex: 2Gb's X 1024 = 2048, 4Gb's X 1024 = 4096, 6Gb's X 1024 = 6144, etc. Another thing may be background programs running. Open task mgr. and startup tab. disable all programs except back up and AV, then restart. You obviously have a memory hog somewhere. WOW! a 3000 series running medium??? I have a 1660Ti an FX processor and DDR3 RAM, (an antique by today's standards) and I am running mostly high settings. Outside of an occasional micro-stutter, my game runs smooth, and textures look great. Gaming and computer tech in general is fast outpacing older machines. (Looking at you Win 11) The Apache and Syria are the most resource hungry modules in DCS. Good luck.
-
^THIS^ Whatever your physical memory is, double it with your page file. I have 32Gb DDR 3 with 32 on the OS drive and 32 on my game drive. Very rare to crash, even on Syria. If your low on space, you need a bigger drive. If you don't want to use pagefile, then you are doomed. Enjoy the crashes.

Any ideas on how to fix the bouncing? It does it real bad when taxiing as well.
-
As @Flappie would say: "A track, or it didn't happen." Tracks may not be reliable for making videos, but they are reliable and helpful for analyzing metadata. Another useful item is log files. Saved Games/DCS open beta/logs. Just trying to help, but you must do your part as well. Help us to help you.

Bell 47 Flyable Helicopter

@Dweeeeb Thanx. I assume you mean the file "Bell-47 Floats.lua" in the weapons folder, right?
