  1. It's a RCS and, more important, a Fuze thing if missiles should intercept missiles (remember the Patriots in the gulf War) - so, tracking is one thing, hitting another - I'm very sceptical.
  2. What's LARPers? Non native speaker
  3. Why would you stick your head out of the cockpit purposeful? I do everything possible to keep it real, I even manually operate switches which would be better put on a hotas but weren't in the real thing. If you concerned about cheating, make a pledge for disabling trackir crazy head moves.
  4. Ctr will check the different cores for max clock speed. Since I'm a little on the loser side of the silicon lottery, I'm able to run only 4850 / 4900mhz on the first 2 cores. With the 3900x I had to make sure to keep the fast cores restricted to dcs, but currently I don't deem it necessary any more. For me, one of the benchmarks for dcs performance, is the Anton bomber intercept mission. With all these planes in the air, my 3900x / 2080ti went to stutterville, the current combo 5900x / 3080ti heats the world climate but is running kinda decently (all in vr).
  5. Look for ctr 2.1. My 5900 with 3080ti is a beast.
  6. I fly the Tomcat almost exclusively. For me the benchmark was the tacan dial. I could ss the index in a way that I could read it without leaning in but for performance sake {3900x - 2080ti) I lowered the res, so I need to zoom in. Same with the G2 but the G2 is more clear and has almost no SDE which is visible in the index. Hornet mfd are fine, maybe the map in the lower one was a little tricky. If it is your first time in vr, I belief that I still can fully recommend the index, specially if you plan to do more in vr. Alxy scares the shit out of me an I screem like a little girl under my index as headcrabs jump at me.
  7. My opinion, since I own both : Index is the way better hmd in all regards - as long as you don't put on the G2 and see the "clearness". After that there was no going back, even so I tried very hard. Now I use the G2 for flightsim and the index for everything else, specially room scale vr. Yes, the G2 has a cable problem (already at the third and I think it is starting to fail again) but they are providing new cables now which hopefully will rectify this problem. Same should be true for the USB connection problems with AMD chipset boards. My 2¢
  8. You just need just one well paying customer to mention that he's not happy with the performance his / her military real pilots receive by the under performing base software, and willing to pay the price of it, problem solved for us
  9. I started DCS in the F-14 and went thrue a lot of pain learning both, the sim and the Tomcat. Still not there but after roughly 400h in the B and 40 in the A I start to get along with the beauties. Tell me about steep learning curve.
  10. Nice one. Thank you for the update.
  11. The Tomcat you have to fly - constantly. A short moment not be concentrated and she is somewhere where she is not supposed to be. You will fly her very often without even peaking out of the window due to the fact that all the instruments are head down 'ish, Jester will drive you crazy and more than once you will eject him, if he doesn't do by himself, you will be swearing because she will go exactly the other way as you want her to go, she will shake rattle and roll your filings out of your teeth (I got a buttkicker and jet seat), you will loose SA all the time because there is no fancy all seeing display, you won't know where the contact from that bullseye call will be because you don't know where the bullseye is and she will try to kill you in the burble. But at the end of the day, you want to take her to bed with you. I'm in love....
  12. A wild guess..... Do you, or did you use a butt kicker or something like that? Had also strange sounds once and had the respective software set to the wrong output.
  13. Does the new development (EF) have any consequences for the development of the full A6 module? Im kinda disappointed, thinking you guys are more the way I see interesting aircrafts, that meaning the love for old rust buckets which had to be flown by pilots and not computers. Business wise you guys most probably hit the jackpot (in that niche market) with the EF, but you lost part of my heart on the way. Still hoping for some old stuff from you guys and I keep dreaming of the F4F.... Anyhow, I will most probably get your new module anyway and put it somewhere in the hangar to the other flying I-pads and keep flying with the F-14.
  14. And here is the end of the campaign Thank you.
  15. Here we go to bring this to an end. I killed myself at the end due to stupidity, but the mission flow will be the same if I just .... Mission 14 is just a cut scene, so I put it here too.
  16. Darn, I got tears in my eyes. No, not as the rest of the guys which posted here, because I'm sad. I was so hoping for Heatblur bringing out the F4 Phantom II, instead it is another flying computer. Most probably a great day, business wise, for heatblur, but a very sad day for me and my shattered dreams.
  17. And here we go with being on Alert - 5 Mission 11 won't be happening due to a couple of recording issues, so let's go right into a hot jet, sitting on the cat, waiting for the shi... hit the fan. What a mess....I did some stupid things, looking at the tacview afterwards, but I won't tell. Maybe I get through with it…
  18. Oh, BTW, there is a typo in the Topgun "scene" - scool - or something like that.
  19. Na, das ist doch mal clever
  20. Had my share of problems with the tanker. Did Mission 11 3 times now due to the fact that the recording for my playthrue video was broken every time, and you can imagine that it is thrilling only the first time as you await the big onslaught every second, but the second and third time not so much anymore. Anyhow, the first time I came with roughly 11000 pounds to the tanker and filled up to 16000, which gave Elvis the chance to fill up too. Problem was that he didn't connect. So I called the tanker via menu and aborted the refuel, and told him to go to tanker and (I believe) I called back in to rejoin, and he was able to refuel. Second time, same fuel stat, I connected...got fuel for 12500, had a disconnect, connected again but no pumping. Had the probe switch on the first stage, so only internal tanks would get fueled. Took me like 5 min to figure out I don't get fuel, put the switch in second position and the fuel flow started again, just to be ended by the tanker, who RTBed. Guess for the tanker, he was pumping the whole time, but the fuel never showed up in my tanks. Guess it is another DCS thing.... I'm not sure how much fuel an S-3 holds, but it is for sure not enough to fill up two Tomcats. Since Elvis has blown his fuel, I guess it would be a smart move to just fill up like 16000 Pounds and let him take the rest. Oh, and I'm for sure not doing a further try to record the mission....even so I understand and enjoyed the first time the boredom of a CAP, I don't do 2+ hours for a 3rd or 4th time
  21. Since you guys did the flashlight, which is bound to the mouse, would it be possible to use something similar which just casts a shadow, like a virtual hand would do, bound to the mouse pointer? I know, and I like that the indications would not be readable in bright sunlight, but as acknowledged, in real live (TM) you would be able to use your hand to make things readable again. I have no idea how much work that would be, but maybe it is usable with the Phantom too, if you guys develop it as your next big thing
  22. Oh, is it that time of the month again, where you feel the need to spam every 54 thread and go on your crusade. Might look up if there is something pharmaceutical which would help thrue this difficult week. P. S. : just spamming, learned from the best.
  23. If you did not experienced the "sharpness" of a G2 or alike, the index is it. I still use her for all other VR games, except dcs msfs and alike, and she is better in every regard except the "clearness". If you ever seen that, you can't fly in the index any more, even so I cuss at the G2 every single time I put her on.
  24. Next time I watched the video and I suspected, during the 2nd approach the Auto-throttle got disconnected and me not noticing it, that's where it started to get hairy ...
