  1. The NS430 doesn't work with any of the jets with advanced navigation systems, I didn't even know it worked with the F-16 before, I wouldn't have expected it to.
  2. As others have mentioned, if you want to arrive at a point a certain distance and heading from a waypoint, that's what the Offset Waypoint function is for - which we don't have yet. Setting a Course line for a Waypoint or TACAN station is only intended to facilitate overflying that point while on a specified course. This is useful for things like arriving at the carrier on BRC, overflying an airport on runway heading, or intercepting a tanker flying the same heading they are, for example.
  3. The system prioritizes weapons over sensors, so the Mav will take precedence. Also the ATFLIR pod, which is the one by far most commonly used in the real world, doesn't use the FOV button so there's no conflict.
  4. My read of this is that when the system is initialized with WoW, it resets to MK1, regardless of what mark points existed before. I would indeed interpret that to mean that when the system is powered up on the ground, previous mark points are erased. And why wouldn't they be? The idea of landing for a quick rearm and refuel before taking off again is pure DCS fantasy. That's not the way Hornets are used in real life.
  5. Does he acknowledge your instruction? He should respond with "Two: engaging bandits" or something similar. He may also respond and tell you he can't. If he's not responding at all, you have a communication issue. Make sure you're transmitting your instruction on the correct frequency. Sometimes you just have to send wingmen instruction multiple times for them to get it.
  6. If you have the historical filter enabled, yes, it will filter vehicles and weapons availability to the time period. Some systems, like GPS, are also disabled if the mission date is too early. Such a system is not, AFAIK, implemented for datalink though.
  7. Master Arm, Master Mode, RWR, and SPJ all have no effect. You need to have weight off wheels, and the Dispenser switch ON. Then you should see ALE-47 on the EW page go through BIT and into STBY. From there hit the MODE OSB to cycle it to the dispenser mode you would like to use. I believe in Bypass ALE-47 will remain crossed out and you'll dispense 2 chaff or 2 flares with the CMS switch.
  8. The AGM-65E is laser guided and requires a laser spot to track. In that training mission you have no FLIR pod to lase targets yourself and the targets will be lased by a JTAC on the ground. You need to contact that JTAC with the radio and have them turn on the laser for you.
  9. So, are you arguing that a DCS module should include a feature because you want it to, even if it's not realistic?
  10. Yup, the helmet worn by Viper pilots can only accept either the HMD or NVGs mounted at a time. You need to choose one or the other. You can set which one is mounted in the Mission Editor, or request either to be mounted while at a full stop on the ground by using the Ground Crew radio option.
  11. The Hornet and Viper in-game are both using the same helmet mounted display: JHMCS. They will have slightly different features based on the way the display is integrated with each aircraft's avionics, and obviously each is slightly different in appearance to mimic the existing display language of the HUD. But otherwise, they're the same. I think, every feature currently in the Hornet's HMD should also come to the Viper, except probably the RWR display in the HMD, as the Hornet's RWR is already integrated into the HUD while the Viper's is not. The A-10C II is using the more advanced Scorpion HMD, which allows color symbiology and video overlay. JHMCS is not capable of that.
  12. Yup, as both Harker and Tholozor have said, this is actually completely realistic and even desirable behavior. The Hornet's SA Page and Viper's HSD Page will not update mid-flight. They can't, threat rings are programmed into them on the ground and that's what they display for the whole flight. Late Activation in DCS is a tool used to control AI behavior and mission resource utilization. You should use this option if you only want the unit to become loaded into the game partway through the mission, or potentially not at all based on random events or the player's actions. A late activated unit could represent a known SAM site that simply won't engage any enemy units unless certain conditions are met, in which case it should be visible on navigation displays. Or it may represent an unknown threat that pops up as a surprise during the mission, in which case it should never appear on the navigation displays. Using the Mission Editor's Hidden options is how you accomplish this.
  13. Yah, definitely contact Thrustmaster. Hopefully they'll step up and sort you out without mush hassle.
  14. You can grab my HOTAS kneeboards here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314231/ Everything is true to the way it currently works in-game, as far as I've been able to test.
  15. If you're willing to take some photos and answer some questions, I'd be happy to work with you to draw one.
  16. That is exactly why I created these for myself, then once I had figured I may as well share them for others too. Yah, that'd be pretty cool, but also a bit labor intensive for every permutation of different controllers out there now. Even the simple fact that DCS will jump to the currently assigned function when you hit a button on your stick is a really nice feature, and one that far too few other games have. Trying to keep everything straight is exactly why I also made these: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3309884/
  17. There are other documents, sure, but not NTRP 3-22.4-FA-18A-D or NTRP 3-22.2-FA-18A-D which give a similar level of information to the publicly available HAF F-16CJ-34. I don't know if ED has full or partial access to those documents or if they have some other way of getting information on tactical systems, but they certainly have access to something that isn't publicly available.
  18. There's only one publicly available document for the Hornet too and we got one of those, so what's available to us is not necessarily the same as what's available to ED.
  19. Are you looking for something like this? I've got a bunch, you can find the link in my signature. That's the TM Hornet stick. I don't know anyone with WinWing gear, but the stick will be similar except for the roller switch I think.
  20. The Super Hornets have had a touchscreen display for the UFC for 20 years now, and in the newest version of the Super Hornet they doubled down on the idea replacing the entire instrument panel with a giant touch screen. The F-35 does the same thing. Evidence would suggest that American aviators seem fairly accepting of touchscreens.
  21. This is where things can get really complicated. Even aircraft that are officially the same type and block delivered to different countries can have widely different equipment. A USAF F-16C Blk.50 isn't the same as a Greek F-16C Blk.50 and the Turkish F-16C Blk.50 is different still. Some of the Greek F-16C Blk.50M features are also implemented in the USAF CCIP improvements, which we have in DCS.
  22. The HUD on our Hornets is driven by the DDI symbiology computer, which I think is unchanged from the very first Hornets? Which would mean the computer is from the 70s. It's way better than the F-14 HUD though; using the Tomcat's flight path marker to land feels like flying drunk.
  23. MIL-STD-1760 is a data communications standard used for transferring position and target information to weapons. The inclusion of 1760 wiring is what distinguishes the BRU-55 from the BRU-33. It doesn't mean that the BRU-55 can carry any MIL-STD-1760 weapon though, as that would also include the GBU-31.
  24. I'm guessing "AIM-7L" should be "AIM-9L" ? When did the BRU-33 enter service? Did the Hornet have a way of carrying multiple bombs per station before it?
  25. Yup! I attached the PDF, but since you're not the only one to ask I also updated the download link to include a PDF as well. While I was at it I also made some tweaks to the kneeboards to update Hornet AZ/EL and CMS functions and reduce some ambiguity with forward and aft switch directions for many of the modules.
