Hi ME Crew. I wanna create an ON ROAD truck convoy. Can you do this in a way that they keep a certain distance without bumping into each other? So far i got one with each truck having its own waypoints, but there must be some master and slave truck setup possible. Is there some formation command, as i saw terms like abreast, and more once ...

Dang .. that's it, y'all thnx

I noticed a change of (player and playable vehicle) Icons. Don't get why ... to do with mission and time settings? version one (older one, marked Active Player): New version, now always:
-
Is that possible? It seems you can access windows only if you have a second monitor active; you can mouse around there with DCS running.

Just looking for that, for a Willys jeep or other vehicle in ww2 CA .... not found yet. -
PS in IL2 there's a great template for the C47 and now updated for the recenter player version, but it contains 2 4096x4096 PSD files. IMO to do with the cockpit etc, I noticed that the template for the B17 has a different size in DCS, 8192x4069, without cockpit etc, as it's a Ai plane. Looks quite simple maybe. I guess a template for a C47 probably will have the same lay-outing as the B17. Has any one a dds or knows where they are located in DCS ? I found some in ..... \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Textures\C-47.zip\ but airplane parts seem scattered all over the zip file. ================================================================== I made historical skins for civilian C74 planes in IL2. Lettering below the cabin windows was realty difficult for this one in Photoshop with special warping of parts, and also kerning: The Delta Airlines here was also a hell of a job, especially due the bands on body placement like engine cowlings and wing boots being partly warped and differing in relative size:

Here's a guide too: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/move-or-restore-default-location-of-saved-games-folder-in-windows-11.8717/ I am in the same process, but where are the profiles for your planes etc NORMALLY saved, as i used a specially homemade folder for 2 years now. Probably also in the saved games folder?

There is target info in special, is that what you mean? PS found out more to get it working as player:

I tend to use game flight mode as a DCS rookie, and also because getting the hang of each plane individually is not really my thing. I like to try different planes every time, and some times get bored with a specific difficult one with too many items to get right just to get lift off. BTW Avionics mode, where is that in 2.8 ?

WW2 and the London map .... created a simple mission about touring London in ww2 ... alas too many issues still but fun ... ========================================================================================== My first attempt in the mission editor, place the attached file here for a Willys sight seeing trip through London WW2 in a nice summers atmosphere.: ......... \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Missions\CombinedArms\Single Be warned, you'll be overrun by trucks, busses, even on park footpaths, and halfway 'cross bridges your Willys will submerge, but it's fun. You'll need Normandy 2.0, WW2 Assets Pack, and Combined arms, and if you're an experienced ME expert, please add to this mission. Use the mouse to view the progress of Willie in London: WWII CA Willie in London v4.zip Pause the game on start, press F10 and then unit take control, then F7, after this you can drive your Willys. Here's a new version where you can 'cross the Tower Bridge: WWII CA Willie in London v5.zip

[REQUEST] file organisation manual for installing skins
jackd replied to jackd's topic in Liveries/Skinning
Hi Rudel, that's really an enlightening document and great help in understanding it. DCS is almost as complex as Windows itself. Also it shows maybe why DCS is a commercial success as with windows?: So many 'flaws' to be externally corrected, adapted & supported by 3rd parties, so that at the end everyone depends on it's growth to stardom.- 2 replies

Hello, as a wee bit of a skinning 'expert' with IL2 i still cannot get the hang of how skin (liveries) are organized in DCS. There are homemade tools i tried, which one is actually working? ============ Instruction videos; some are well made, but i have three main problems with them in general: 1) i am quite deaf and the audio of the voice overs are often done quite vaguely and amateurish (sorry, been a pro sound for video editor for years). 2) Watching video's with a low resolution where you cannot read small text like file location bars etc. are more or less useless. 3) Usually one looks for one small item which is either missing or mentioned once briefly, and especially looking for it is just too time consuming. Now isn't there a properly done PDF manual on how you should get skins (liveries) to import in and work with DCS? ==================================== This ModerViewer2 needs such a manual as well, i spent half a day on trying to figure out how to get it going, but still have some issues with it.

just found this, https://www.openflightschool.de/mod/book/view.php?id=866&chapterid=1149 as i got stuck on opening modelviewer2.0.exe: Guess i have to do some Notepad++ editing first .. Alas my autoexec.lua file in "F:\- GAMES 2\DCS World OpenBeta" looks totally different than the one on the above link. Now i am getting this, would love to get that in the game: ADDED: first tester, adapted camouflage, and swastickle for your fancy:
-
Pity, i just discovered it, it's great though sometimes weird even. My first 'mission', UPDATED: WWII CA Willie in London v5.zip PS Just saw some parked vehicles, above mission, but i only met Busses, Taxis and a Lorry or 2 ... these vehicles wont move?:
-
I looked at Model viewer, guess i must check out how it works ... got the EDM file to load, not my created DDS file yet.
-
So i adapted/made my first skin, in this case for a Bf109k4. Now where should i place it, and how do you load it into the game fast and simple for testing?
-
Rubber mat, eventually glue it on a wooden board?
-
done, thnx

My first attempt in the mission editor, place the attached file here for a Willys sight seeing trip through London WW2 in a nice summers atmosphere.: ......... \DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Missions\CombinedArms\Single Be warned, you'll be overrun by trucks, busses, even on park footpaths, and halfway 'cross bridges your Willys will submerge, but it's fun. UPDATED version: WWII CA Willie in London v4.zip The trick is start the mission, pause and press F10, then set this at the top bar on the map : Then press F7 'till you get this view: Tune your driving controllers, i have left/right and engine power set to 2 Axis' on my Warthog throttle, accelerator pedal RZ reversed, and tune Left/Right curvature to 59 BTW, and gear shifting to buttons to select forward and reverse.

With the Christen Eagle TRIM_HAT Nose UP or Down trim does not work in Flight Control Options; Game Flight Mode is off. OpebBeta v 2.8.4.39731

so that's in gunner view i guess .. ADDED i got vehicle controls to work; tip (maybe): don't setup pedals for anything, it confuses vehicle input settings it seems.
-
Call me stupid, but where do i find this 'tracking mode'. Seems not in any options as being selectable.. I see the tank in a compass circle displayed in the upper right corner, is it active then?
