Food for thought... I was watching (or rewatching) videos posted by Wags last year:.. Now...there is apparently ability for signs and signals on roads. Do the civilian traffic ever collide? I haven't observed the current black sea map, but i don't remember too many intersections. The traffic is definitely denser in NTTR map. I know it should be "solid" as you can destroy civilian traffic in current map. Do civilian traffic get into accidents? is there a cleanup crew? :p haha... Just curious. Not asking for a city simulator. ;)

Fair enough. :)

BTW... I thought ED were improving clouds in edge. How come we still see the cloud "MAT" in overcast? ... is it still WIP?
-
Definitely...i don't see edge being held back too much longer. I am more excited for that than the prop planes.... but give me the pfm flanker. ;)
-
I've had enough. Lets just have at it with EDGE. The aircraft can come later. :p
-
I agree..I backed only 40$ because I don't care about WWII era..just wanted to support ED third parties. But my suggestion is also to ditch the physical extras. Too much into the negative already...don't make it worse for yourselves.
-
If they do try it, perhaps just FC3 would be a good package to start with. All new 6dof cockpits (almost done...except mig), AFM for all aircraft and just simulation enough. However, they need to get the immersion factor...which means.... achievements, good missions, nice cutscenes, improved graphical effects.
-
How about demo being a game with no mission editor, no other flyable aircraft assets, just enough models for a couple of demo missions and a loaded WWII aircraft. This way, the prospective customer gets to check out the game...the features and DCS fidelity and gets to fly in an immersive combat environment with era-specific assets. But they can't just plop in other models etc and crack the game per se. I agree though...ideal case scenario is ED makes a AFM/AFM+ level with SSM avionics model like the Su25/25T and gives the whole DCS WWII a free to play model again. In terms of work required, I think the SSM aircraft is probably easier than trying to restrict an existing sim to many such constraints. But ED need to really think this one through.... so many flyables at such a low price (I paid 40$ and I will be getting all flyables)...its just too much to give away when even the flight model for a single aircraft is over 120K.This is just not financially feasible and un-wise. If anything...work around it by releasing one aircraft at a time while working on other aircraft as the primary income source. But doing the kickstarter agreed module will probably run ED dry of all its money.
-
I think ED should manage their giveaways a bit more carefully. Granted we have no idea of ED's cost structure, but recent info from Wags proves our hunch that making a single DCS aircraft or FC level aircraft costs a lot of money. (120K give or take probably even for the F-15C PFM alone). Now with all the deep promises from the kickstarter, it makes me wonder if ED can afford to give away so many aircraft at such a "loss". This is just out of concern for ED. I want them to be in business for a long long time till the time of my grandchildren so that I can show them...."look...this is how grandpa used to behave like a geek and learn how to fly military aircraft in his computer chair." :p
-
I think we most likely can. :p Thats the freedom we have right now. Mustang against flankers and eagles. ;)
-
It will be nice to see eras like the cold war/post cold war etc. Would be nice to see gripen, eurofighter, flankers, fulcrums and eagles in combat. :)
-
I think thats great. Its better to have a unified package...although a boxed product for WWII enthusiasts definitely is financially more sound. So I think we may yet see both. Hopefully ED should first of all iron out the map of products in work and place a hard limit. Keeping the scope limited to EDGE, flanker AFM, Fw 190 and FA18C. Just work on those, get it done and then move on to the rest. Rather than work on everything in a shotgun manner. But I am sure they know what they are doing.

There is also flanker pfm coming. Personally that is my most sought after update.

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Witchking replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
Oh yes...all my games are on steam. I want them in a common place. But, I would rather give ED 100% of their purchase price rather than pay some middleman. -
Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Witchking replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
Remember....steam also takes atleast 30% off every purchase. So, ED will only be getting 70%. I think if we want to support ED, we need to stick with DCS shop. I was loving the steam version by using keys from the DCS shop. I guess I am back to the inhouse DCS version. -
It will be part of a patch. Both F-15 and Su27 will get free AFM/PFM upgrades for FC3 owners. The rest (Mig29 and Su33) may be a purchase (when and if they are made...).

Thrustmaster HOTAS Problem
Witchking replied to Mike Busutil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
email thrustmaster. Don't worry...they have great support. They fixed my throttle and sent it back in a prompt manner. Even offered me a choice of instructions etc to fix it myself. Perhaps they will send u some tool to clearly rescue the firmware which has been corrupted on ur stick. -
Thanks for the update Matt. Glad to know that the funds were used by ED for the project. Clears up insinuation on Ilya and hopefully he can clear up any personal issues and gain back confidence from some of his customers.

Thrustmaster HOTAS Problem
Witchking replied to Mike Busutil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Then search thurstmaster support...there should be a firmware recovery tool or something. If anything email thrustmaster, they are helpful and can help fix this issue. But remember you have an underlying issue with your pc...you need to try to fix it first. -
Thrustmaster HOTAS Problem
Witchking replied to Mike Busutil's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There may be some USB driver issues. Try first using the hotas on a different computer and see if it works. If it does, you can then trouble shoot your main pc. You might try formatting/reinstalling the motherboard/chipset drivers/usb3 drivers. -
You mean U tried activating ur license on steam and it did not work?? When did U buy those copies...i bought fc3 from pre-release and that license activated on steam. But if U just bought ur copy, the current news about steam not accepting external keys may be applicable.
-
Yup... looks like they probably wanted 30% of all dcs licenses.
-
I think steam takes at least 30% of revenue for games purchased on it's platform. However, games bought from external sources (as long as they are not steamworks enabled.... an agreement which already gives steam a percentage over units sold.) do not contribute to steam revenue. Maybe steam wanted dcs to transform to steamworks, and perhaps ED did not want to make those major changes to DCS at this time. As a result, there may now be two separate versions or two separate activation systems and runtime executables for every release in the future.... one for the dcs version and the other for steam.

Although I am not surprised at ED's honour and commitment to keep up the RRG promise with their community, I hope that they don't break their bank or go broke by having to cover for too many missteps. This happened before with Nevada for dcs:a-10 module, the debacle with Beczl and now the potential 150k kickstarter by RRG. Just a reminder ED.... please don't go broke by trying to cover for other people's mistakes. Also, I don't know the complete story, so I only hope ED has control over at least a major fraction of those kickstarter funds.
