  1. why charge more for a terrain tool that people can use to enhance the game? SDKs are given away free unless there is commercial gain invovlved in which case a license is required. Check out Cryengines SDK, its free to download and use until you start charging for any work created with it.
  2. With a product as complex as DCS its not easy trying to reproduce a crash and when we do its not straight forward for the Devs to isolate the problem from the crash file itself (but please keep posting them up, sometimes it may be). When we test multiplayer we have a Dev running a debug version which literally brings the PC to its knees recording and logging just about everything. Rest assured we are working on it & hopefully this will be sorted soon. Its just as frustrating for me!

    GTA 5

It paints a sorry picture of the world when its likely the top billing game of all time is based around being a 'good' criminal. Sure there's more to the game than just that & I can understand the Psychology behind the fantasy of doing something virtually that you would never consider doing IRL but still .. If anyone is injured or killed IRL because of the crazies/lonely/attention seekers etc out there I have to wonder if its worth it. Free will and all that, sure. Its a debate that will rage on for years to come & maybe its because I have young kids, but I think some of the scenes in GTA5 have overstepped the mark. You don't need realism to quote immersion to make a good playable game. My 2 cents.
  4. 6 seconds to load GUI. Instant action to seat on A10c takes me 22 seconds. Updated and not a fresh vanilla install. Everyones PC is different as are their installations, software etc. If ED were developing for an Xbox then we'd all have the same times but they aint so you shouldn't jump to conclusions and assume its a DCS problem.
  5. Only use Blender myself and to be honest as its freeware there are a great many tutorials out there. Here's my chair
  6. As far as I know there aren't any scripting commands that allow you to vary the contents of warehouses. It was something that was requested though. I could be wrong though, I've been out of the script testing loop for some time.
  7. Wellll ... when I was a lad, that would be considered showing off. I know a number of people who are equally if not more capable they just don't post videos of themselves.

    New X:Rebirth

You'd think that after all of these years of development they would have come up with a Multiplayer or at the very least a Co-op game. Looks good though, I'll probably get it.
  9. Yep, have to agree, when it comes to DCS small steps are always better than jumping in at the deep end. The Texan will be a nice edition and one that newcomers to simming & DCS I'm sure will appreciate. That's not to say some of the hardcore crowd won't, but it does fill a nice niche.
  10. Welcome to the DCS forums Jose. I look forward to seeing your models in action.
  11. GG will never learn. He can't help himself when he sees a missile thread. Take it from me (ex-RAF) , he knows his stuff. The short of it is that DCS isn't perfect and its not a missile simulator so it's unlikely it ever will be. Are we working towards making it better? yes, of course. GG is one of those responsible for improving it which means he has access to his research and some of EDs. Why people continually disagree with him without proof is beyond me but I guess that's the nature of Internet virtual pilots.
  12. Now if only it had some guns on it and Aliens trying to attack then it really would be a bit more entertaining methinks.
  13. Depends on wether or not you strayed in front of your wingman during launch. It's possible that you just happened to be in the way. Difficult to know unless you saved the .trk file and can post it up for us to take a look at.
  14. Chaos, yep forgot that they may have been in HOLD having used FLCH when high, good point. HOLD won't appear in VNAV with flaps out of Up ('on approach mode'). going by their speeds they were certainly in the wake-up regime above 100' RA. As the Asiana P/UT was an ex-airbus pilot I can see how the auto flight systems on the B777 can be hard to take in, I for one think the next block point 17 really should address some of the issues that exist (a couple you already alluded to). I really think the training Captain has a lot to answer for, as does the third guy on the jump seat. Airbus converting to Boeing is harder than the other way around imho. I think the ex-airbus pilot handling may not have recognised the inability to pitch trim below min-manoeuvre speed since they don't trim at all on the airbus. At 104 kts he would have been way out of trim. Btw, NTSB have confirmed no issues with A/Ts.
  15. Don't need to read any material, I am quite familiar with Airbus and Boeing. I am also familiar with the history of the aircraft their dispatch rate%, safety records etc etc Which is why there is an industry wide accepted statement that reads "if it aint Boeing it aint going". Ask any ground engineer qualified on both types and he will gladly explain it to you in detail. Why you picked one slightly tongue in cheek statement amongst my whole post though is beyond me. Kind of obvious don't you think and quite possibly insulting everyone else's intelligence.
  16. and what superior safety systems are those? The same ones that allowed Air France to put one of theirs into the Atlantic because the stall warning ceases at 80kts? The ones that allowed the airbus test/display pilot to put his aircraft into the trees.... heck the list is long, don't get me started on Airbooos. If its not Boeing I aint going. Just FYI, the B777 has autothrottle wake-up. If you disconnect the A/T's by pressing the thrust lever button and then continue to fly well below min-manoeuvre speed the A/T's will re-engage and apply power. The only way to stop this is to turn off the A/T arm switches (which is only done when shutting down an engine btw). So what I would like to know is 1. Why did they disconnect the A/T's and 2. Why didn't the A/T wake-up didn't activate (maybe it did but he held them closed). 100ft at 109 kts with stick shaker activating is disconcerting to say the least. Not blaming the pilots at this point, that's the NTSBs job.
  17. Its possible that Ethiopian have it purely because of the altitude of Addis and the fact that Vmcg/Vmca might not be a problem at that altitude. I'll dig my books out later and check. Maybe, but you can't hold a party in a F-16 and get from 1 side of the world to the other non-stop without refuelling.
  18. The 777-300ER GE engines produce 115,000 lbs, the 777-200LR and freighter are limited to 110,000 lbs due to Vmcg and Vmca limitations. An empty freighter is the most impressive. Climbs like a homesick angel 0-41,000ft in 13 mins.
  19. Played it for a couple of hours tonight. Seems like you're ok with just playing for free and levelling up but I can see that paying $$ is the only way to access certain kit. They have 2 in game currencies, 1 (credits) is easy to acquire by just playing, the other currency (inGame$$, which obviously you need for anything particularly useful) you will have to get your credit card out in their online shop. Also you can exchange $$ for credits and inGame$$ for credits but you can't exchange credits for inGame$$ (funny that ...). Good model for getting you to part with a bucketful of $ long term. Whatever happened to just paying for a game and be done with it. Anyways, like I said, its playable without spending $ at the moment but who knows what will happen over time. Enjoy it whilst its free!
  20. Any feedback for a miz builder is nice. I don't think there is much appreciation of how much time goes into building good missions. It does urk me somewhat that people download missions and play them for free but don't have the courtesy to leave a simple thank you or comment afterwards. Maybe I was brought up differently. Rant over... Sorry.
  21. AI refuelling was not particularly good. It has been reported and last time I checked it was fixed, just waiting for testers build to migrate to a patch or 1.2.5 Edit: When I reported it, it was 2 Su33s and the Russian tanker. I'll have to go back and check the F18s also.
  22. Just happened to have tested for 1.2.3 and it was still sitting there in notepad++ so ... ADD:- trigger.action.addOtherCommandForCoalition(coalition.side.BLUE, 'Request SAR cover', 40) REMOVE:- trigger.action.removeOtherMenuItemForCoalition(coalition.side.BLUE, 'Request SAR cover')
  23. Thanks for the mission Joyride. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
