  1. how do the migs 15/19/21 fit into this theory. same company holds the intellectual property to modern migs/sukhois i dont think itll be clicky red air, but i dont think your logic holds water
  2. Ive got the 16& 18 but don't care about either of them (they were more of 'support the dev' buys) but even if they were my airframes of choice, I still have enough other content to work thru that I can always do something else while I wait
  3. Yup, goodbye money. On a positive note, I'm now up to 46000 miles just waiting for the Hind
  4. Or like true internet denizens, we can ignore the data and go back to senseless conjecture. I mean, it's not like that isn't common practice or anything
  5. Compared to reddit, why yes it is.
  6. Perhaps you skipped over the other part of my post stating that the patch is largely irrelevant to me
  7. Steam release date just changed from today (in an hour or so) to "coming soon-item not available"
  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought patches were usually posted earlier in the day than this. This doesn't bode well. I'm at work & on stable so it wouldn't affect me anyway, but today is payday and a little bird mentioned the p47 and channel may get posted in the store today. I want to see if the dollars are going directly from my employer to ED, if if they get to hang out in my bank account for awhile first
  9. Yawn. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a phantom, but getting tired of seeing naval air
  10. I think it comes to lack of verisimilitude. Gazelle doesn't fly the way people feel it should, I've seen neither hard data nor experience to back it up The bottom line for me is do I enjoy flying the gazelle? Yes I do It's fun. Even if it's not 100% realistic, I don't have the frame of reference to tell. I know people fail to understand my former job in the army, so I won't presume to be an expert in the aircraft of some other nations military. I have fun with it, that matters to me I also know the SMEs consulted on the KW are passionate about seeing their equipment faithfully recreated. I understand that fully, I've spent a lot of time discussing my equipment with chizh and Nick grey, both of whom were graciously receptive. I have former colleagues who changed career paths and flew the KW. We all kinda grew apart, but thru them I sort of feel a fondness to the is that I don't for other army aviation. Call me crazy, when I watch the video of kiowas in Kandahar, even tho it doesn't reflect my experience in the army, I do find myself missing being deployed. For that, I trust the kw is in good hands. I look forward to flying it
  11. True that. I had just been born& was in Japan at the time Viktor belenko brought his then cutting edge mig 25 over from Russia to Japan I remember seeing something of a mission the US did to covertly steal a bind and sling load it from a Chinook I know I've seen Russian helos at fort bliss Not a lot about Russian fighters is secret any more. Especially cuz most of the red air is Soviet era, and client states in need of cash following the fall of the Soviet Union were more than happy to sell their Russian-made arms
  12. Funny how we get in the habit of examining everything ED puts out like it was the Dead Sea Scrolls :megalol: I say we, I'm just as guilty :music_whistling:
  13. No, I don't recall that. However, dealing with privately owned aircraft may be different than dealing with a foreign government
  14. https://www.raptoraviation.com/warbirds/1986-mig-29ub Here's another mig-29 for sale in Florida. How hard would it be for a dev to contact raptor aviation and say "we'll compensate you for your time& inconvenience but would you give us access to this airframe & any documentation it has to get the info to build a sim?" DCS gets full clicky red-air. Players rejoice. Dollars come rolling in to the dev. People stop pressuring ED to make red air
  15. You sidestep the Russians and this becomes irrelevant. I've mentioned elsewhere, there's plenty of client states that have these aircraft Or there's an even easier route; This is Paul Allen's mig-29. There's plenty of these and other models thatre in private ownership. A 3rd party developer just has to reach out to the right people and they can get all the info they need
  16. That thankfully doesn't apply to 3rd parties
  17. Unpopular opinion: I don't care even if KW flies like the gazelle, still a day one purchase for me. Regardless of how people feel the gazelle should be vs what the module is, I've enjoyed flying it. It's a fun bird to mess around with.
  18. Considering that it would be more realistic to load amraams onto a Humvee than an a-10, I would have to agree with you there
  19. I understand why people would want it, and I wouldn't pitch a fit if ed put it in place, I just would prefer they didn't. And speaking of preferences, I wish port of Tacoma would get even a fraction of the wind great lakes sees. It sucks seeing slip fees going down the drain when the whole port is flat as a mirror, day after day
  20. That's true, but having sailed there for as long as you have I'm sure you're aware that there's more factors in the break lakes winds than simply it's fetch and the weather conditions that hit it with such extreme weather don't affect the PG (and while I don't doubt that the eastern black sea certainly does see storm surge, it's nothing compared to the GL) Additionally, VA is also affected by gulf stream & weather out of gulf of Mexico. In the late 90s/early 2000s I remember ft Meade being hit with the remnants of a hurricane, so even if you don't have a long westerly fetch off VA doesn't mean there isn't a significant run for a wind to build up. It's not for nothing that coastal NC was called graveyard of the Atlantic
  21. Because I see no reason to be for it. Additionally, if all we get are a while bunch of "+1s" & "agree! we need this" , it skews the perception of whether something is really wanted or needed. I have zero problem being a dissenting opinion if I have data to back it up. We all have different things we key in on...just look at the threads on gun dispersion
  22. Parts of black Sea have quite a bit of wave energy, but the areas on our map are calmer. In any case, the PG is for all intents and purposes the primary useful area for us. The Kuz can access the black Sea thru a loophole , however short of breaking international treaties , the nato carriers can't transit the Turkish straits to the black sea
  23. I had a mini Cooper in Germany. The Autobahn was no place for that clown car with tiny dry-rotted tires, but I was young&dumb(crumple zone? *I* am the crumple zone!) It was small enough I would been better off taking out the driver's seat and driving from the back. As it was, the car would leave me with killer shin pain. Kept me from getting a fiat 500, so I suppose I wished up a little
  24. Ka-50 & mi8 have zero issues on the Kuz, as long as it's not burning
