  1. Sweet! At long last, I can land my Jeff on the super carrier just like the iranian airforce does off the coast of Normandy in real life! That's one heck of a changelog notes... Really shows how much you guys are up to over 5 months! Thank you!
  2. A positive message and a reminder of why we're all here (and how far each of us is on in our own journey), why wouldn't we have responded? Sure beats reading complaints, demands, wishlist, and arguments over "which variant/model/era..."
  3. The f-5 is a good transition from fc3 to full-fi. Cockpit is relatively simple to navigate, fully featured without being overly complicated. It's a fun aircraft to fly, and there's plenty you can do with it. Additionally, because it's not a BVR aircraft, you have to really work for your kills, which is satisfying for the same reasons that mastering any other skill is. L39 and C101 are good candidates for similar reasons I wouldn't overlook the ka-50 as well.
  4. I've never seen that. I've seen a mod (which I haven't been able to get working) , but nothing from heatblur
  5. Click on the users name to go to their public profile, just under their name will be a drop down that says "user lists" select that& choose "add user to ignore list". I do suggest using that sparingly and judiciously
  6. Perhaps you should read my previous posts in this thread, it may change how you interpret my response to your previous post
  7. Im fine not getting the f14d, I really don't care for yet another glass cockpit. If we were to have one variant and one variant only, it would be the -A model
  8. You'll want to look into Chuck Owls guides if you start flying any other aircraft( or just want a good look at the other modules to know what you're getting into before you buy). Just Google "Chuck's guides". They can be a fantastic aid for all the rest of the airframes, and I don't think it's an understatement to say the DCS community is a bit better off for his efforts
  9. Pretty much the same reaction when an OB update gets delayed by two weeks rather than five months. OP was perhaps being a bit hyperbolic, but the response was uncalled for
  10. That's one of the strengths of DCS. I remember my first successful intact landing, in an su-25 on one fine mozdok evening, felt like a huge accomplishment. The steep learning curve of even basic competencies makes each breakthrough like that extremely satisfying
  11. In a literal sense, yes. In a meta sense it isn't. A translated cockpit simulates the linguistic familiarity a native speaker would have in that cockpit. Don't like it? Don't use it. That simple, but theres no reason it shouldn't be there for those who don't want to learn swedish.
  12. Iirc, u don't need the wingman so as long as he doesn't crash into you, you should be gtg. I found 104 to be consistently a retard. Whenever an AI Helo crashed, it was always 104. On Punisher, he flew too high& too far south and got shot down by air defenders in the south
  13. Wish there was an English cockpit
  14. Good to know all is well!
  15. I should've qualified that statement with "in an mi8". I've lost rotors in the huey (who hasn't?) And virtually everything on the gazelle
  16. It doesn't. But it does have a boom. And my remark was snark directed at the damage modelling and the obvious weight and balance issues that should preclude you from maintaining straight and level flight after losing that much of the airframe structure
  17. Don't know what you're talking about. I just did that one the other day (finished the campaign yesterday) I'm playing on 2.5.5 stable
  18. I think I only have about 3, with another 3 who I'm considering adding to that list. The atmosphere here , for whatever faults it has, is better than over at reddit. This forum is surprisingly calm and moderate, especially in the face of unpopular opinions, than that place, but thereve been times when I'm surprised any dev shows up considering the reaction they got. theres got to be a link somewhere between anonymity and loss of civility (not just online...you can see it on any given commute as well). Unfortunately, some news only really shows up there
  19. I've played games on a subscription model, and came to resent them. With that monthly bill (even if it was paid in advance, quarterly or annually) I felt an almost obligation to play because that's what I was paying for to the point where I started neglecting other games or interests of mine. Gradually they became almost an albatross hung from my neck I don't need that. If I need to step away from DCS for weeks, then so be it. Ive made a substantial financial contribution already, as have most of us, to the point where I've purchased modules I have little interest in simply to support devs. I want to be able to focus on other interests or obligations in life without worrying about getting my use out of a subscription, or whether it's worth renewing, or whatever The system, as it currently exists, isn't in need of an overhaul. It works fine
  20. ED doesn't need armchair-CEOs. If they were in need of a new revenue stream, they would've rolled it out by now. (Or it could also be that MAC, in addition to reducing the learning curve into DCS, provides that revenue) Additionally, I have no problems with the current development cycle. Not losing any sleep over incomplete EA projects
  21. For the mi8, perhaps. I haven't lost a boom in-game. For the ka-50, all it takes is small arms fire to lose everything aft of the transmission. No big deal, Helo flies fine (still perfectly balanced as well)
  22. Careful with such heresy. It's not an acceptable opinion here that the UI is fine as it is
  23. If it's multiple liveries, you're better off just backing up the affected directories, and after patching you only have to delete&replace a folder or two
  24. You may just have to re-delete it. I have to do the same with the busy crew life bar each update. Which livery takes up 18gb?
  25. I will too...by spreading it wide open.
