  1. It's up, and my wallets 70$ lighter
  2. For the longest time i hated this helo. Couldn't even take off for the life of me. As soon as i even nudged the collective a hair, the helo would launch into the air like a scalded cat, spin around and break up. Turned out all i needed to do was go into axis tuning, and invert the collective values, and then the collective started working as expected. Since then, this has been my favorite helo to fly (not necessarily shoot at stuff, but its good for buzzing urban terrain like no other)
  3. stuff like this makes me miss being deployed, even if it was never so exciting as this
  4. :megalol::lol::megalol:
  5. Looks like they dont

  7. Perhaps it could include AI cessna skymasters in "brothers to the rescue" livery
  8. I, too, would not live in the sheep
  9. +1000000. I can't yes enough
  10. Then i shall buy it for zero dollars
  11. yes, now if the other devs and ED could adopt such a thing
  12. Does that mean stable is finally getting some love?
  13. Sssshhhhhhh! The ending was supposed to be a surprise!
  14. To be followed by Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 DLC campaign.
  15. this sets the standard of a roadmap that i wish we could see with the aircraft, maps, & core game as well. very well done
  16. Is there a plan for when f16 is moving from open beta to stable?
  17. i voted yes for two reasons: 1. "full clicky" cockpits may seem great , but theyre something of a mixed bag for VR users, where anything that cant be mapped to stick or hotas means an immersion breaking lift-the-goggles-and-decypher-keyboard manuever 2. the appetite for planes in this community far exceeds the resources to make them in full fidelity. some compromise must be made somewhere- lower fidelity may be able to fill some of those gaps
  18. it would be nice if ED would give some timeline of their plans, whether it be by a certain date or by a certain degree of completion. theres no shortage of other eternal-early access aircraft on stable.
  19. its pretty awful, so thats probably for the best. it didnt take me long to want to throw the copilot out his door, that really ruined it for me
  20. im just wishing for voices that sound like theyre recorded through crappy mics (like the soviet throat mics- look it up on youtube) where the speaker is in midst of noisy equipment and translated to a staticy vhf signal like actual military radios rather than the polished comms we get now
  21. theres only one battery that has more than one radar, and thats the air defense school @ ft. sill (i worked there when it was at ft bliss) a single control van is only cabable of connecting to one radar, so to have 4 on sight would take extensive reconfiguring *or* 4 engagement control stations, in which you just placed a whole battalion on a single site this would never happen because patriot isnt a 360 degree weapon system. its placed very deliberately behind the asset its protecting (in iraq, we were behind even the combat hospitals) with a known threat direction. they arent placed at random to catch whatever flys by (in fact, im skeptical after the shenanigans of '03, patriot will ever be used against an aircraft deliberately again).. the adversary's launch points are known or suspected and thats whats used to develop target lines the AN/MPQ-65 is not a 360 degree radar. it can rotate 360 degrees, but its lateral limits are unchanged from its predecessor (in fact, theres a great deal of shared components)
  22. heres some good video of a site being set up, you get a good overview at the end. the radar is *very* maintenance intensive, and thats most likely why its turned to the side the way it is. i cant remember what is in the bay theyre working on other than a bunch of power supplies. in normal operation, it would be pointed in the same direction the launchers are
  23. iron- thats why i made the distinction between reality, and what is modelled in game. i see a lot of misunderstanding about patriot, both in the forums and how its placed in missions. I spent 10 years or so working in various capacities from crew member to maintainer to trainer to something akin to middle management with patriot units in several countries. im really not trying to pounce on what people say , im trying to help people understand the system in as much detail as i feel comfortable putting on a public forum
  24. in reality, none of them are "fluff". if the system functions without them, its because the necessity for power or communications isnt modelled in the game. the EPP is absolutely necessary to the functioning of the firing unit, unless you have some other source of 480v/400hz power available. the ICC is not usually co-stationed with a firing unit, but it is a difinitive portion of the kill chain. necessary in real life, it coordinates the info from the air-pictures of subbordinate firing batteries, and communicates to higher levels of command the amg is neccesary-ish. there are ecs mounted antennae (corner reflectors, or the old ones we used to call "fly swatters") but the amg has greater range. no patriot battery will operate without one. they enable communications between different firing batteries as well as the ICC please also note that launching stations need to be placed within 45 deg of either side of the radar's boresight. patriot is not a 360 degree system, and any launcher not seen by the radar wont be eligible to launch from
