+1 to making it optional via in-game menu settings.

Opinion requested: Upcoming Facebook account requirement for Quest 2
rrohde replied to Fri13's topic in Virtual Reality
+1 Well said! -
My wife teases me about ED all the time as well when I talk about DCS.

There are some areas in Syria that are below sea level a quick google search turned up. Maybe that's all there is to it.

[NOCHG] White Canopy under certain sun conditions
rrohde replied to falcon_120's topic in Fixed Bugs
Could that be the new fogging up effect they implemented for the canopy? If so, you need to defog. :) This is how mine started to fog up at around 25,000 ft: -
+1 ... and well said! I wholeheartedly agree.

All Gladiator Mk.II-based sticks (including the K) have been discontinued and been replaced by the new modular Gladiator NXT (GNX) series:

@Taz1004: These shortcuts are a pain to figure out while wearing the VR headset though ;)

I just lean forward, and then recenter my VR view. Sometimes I have to do that a view times to line up perfectly with the nose of the aircraft, but this will get you farther away from the HUD.

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
rrohde replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Some updated/improved black engine smoke would be nice as well. :) -
Had no problem with the A-10 II Tank Killer module either. Just hopped into the "take off" quick action mission on Caucasus, configured my controls per the usual, and off I went.

[OPINION, NO EVIDENCE] Wake Turbulence Too Strong?
rrohde replied to Sordsman's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Ah, we found the spokesperson for the Thunderbirds.;) When you're that close to another plane as during formation flying, the wake "spirals" aren't as large as they'll get farther away from the plane. So formation flying is always done in an offset to the other plane as to avoid the wake. "When flying formation you are separated from other aircraft in three dimensions." and "[...] the procedures they use and position that each aircraft is compared to the next airplane keeps them out of that turbulent air." Guess all formation teams deal with that. But, not always perfectly as it appears: "Two of the jets in the Blue Angel Delta formation encountered unexpected wake turbulence," Hontz said, "causing a very brief and minor contact between the aircraft." -
Awesome - thank you

I read that news piece earlier today as well. At least the pilots ejected safely. Reminds me of how much we need an Su-35 in DCS, as that was the perpetrator. ;) Accidents happen; there was the F-16 that flew into its own bullets, and the other incident where a technician fired rounds from an F-16 that totaled another F-16 on the ground.

Discount on A-10C II Dependant on when you got the A-10C?
rrohde replied to BonerCat's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
As an A-10C owner, I wish I could pay full price for the A-10C II Tank Killer module, just to support ED. Paying only $9.99 for a new module after so many years of owning an old module feels like highway robbery (with me being the robber). :) Is there an option to pay full price instead? -
+1 This should be on ED's list as well!
-
Then you haven't tried the I-16 ;)

That actually can be done for the MCG and SCG grips' trimmer hat. You can tweak those settings using VKBdevCfg (not sure why you'd use another software when the VKB configurator is already extremely powerful).

I don't think the take-off difficulty is realistic.
rrohde replied to sandcat's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Take off isn't that bad at all. ATA to 1.4 (not more than that), and off you go. Some rudder input to keep her straight and ... airborne. -
Ah yes, been there as well. Downloaded it, hoped in it (used my old TrackIR with it), after some oohs and aahs over the clouds, I quickly (a few days) fell into the hole of it being indeed "a mile wide but less than an inch deep", and came to the painful realization of "boredom simulator" being a thing, with no decent ASM or PFM to be found, and a huge harddrive hog at the end of the day. I ended up uninstalling it. Maybe once they offer VR I'll take a look again...

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
rrohde replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Seems as if some of the smoke does indeed not follow the wind direction, as others have pointed out. This is v4: Any advice?
