Please can someone post the schematic for a Mega Nano RS485 connection, I have 3 nanos and want to get a master and RS485 to test out linking them. Is a Mega just a Mega or are there types of Mega? Sorry for thread hijack but the title is the title! NM found it: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3247704&postcount=171 Are 4 of these all that is needed to run 3 nanos from one Mega? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Maxim-MAX487CPA-Line-Transceiver-RS-422-RS-485-5-V-8-Pin-PDIP/401626040868?hash=item5d82c70a24:g:7KEAAOSwaYVbNlOM:rk:26:pf:0

Last decent sim was by Sonalysist Dangerous Waters, surely it’s about time we got a replacement!! I suppose it would probably be ineffective to build the P8 due to the amount of systems on board and it being quite a niche product but maybe a Sea Hawk could also be released as a Blackhawk and other versions whilst the base models pay for the development of an ASuW sensor development?

If you look at what the Brits did with GR4 and what they are doing with Eurofighter, you might understand why it could be a BAE/MOD secret thing rather than Panavia. The partner nations invest in different things for their political aims, Germany doesnt really do expeditionary AG so didnt do GR4, their Eurofighter is way behind the UK in many capabilities. UK made the ADV of the Tornado as it wasnt contemplating dog fighting due to the distance over water, not sure what Germany did but ADV was only British AFAIK. Also zee Germans and Italians did an EW version of the Tornado. Paveway 4 and Brimstone with their targetting pods are all proven on the Tonka for the RAF which will/are making their way onto the Tiffy for the RAF. So those updated UK Tornado systems are still current as they fly on in 5th Generation, obviously the Tiffy systems will evolve and the GR4 ones will become obsolete. You could probably get a GR1 or 1st batch Tonka, IDS?? Not sure if GR1 is a UK designation and IDS was the common but I want GR4, I bought the FLiR Fairings for every one on behalf of the MOD and loved it setting off every car alarm on takeoff! Also, I worked at BAe and not sure how much info is needed to make a commercial simulator, at the end of the day they are a commercial business, everyone complains how expensive F-35 is, well guess what, industry doesnt have teams of engineers and commercial people with thorough knowledge of IP, commercial in confidence, ITAR and all the lovely things needed to help a 3rd party developer just sat around, they are pretty lean. Perhaps if the UK cut the Red Arrows they could employ a couple of people to help DCS and third parties to develop virtual platforms as advertising, but if there isnt at least a decent figure of Return on Investment, you would be hard to get someone! Of course, as the DCS platform grows, perhaps they will outsource some of that simulation to DCS as is their military side of the business, synthetic training is bloody big business, the more accurate you get it, the less time you need pilots using very expensive flying hours!

I am all for ideas that enhance missions and mission builders tool sets. Dont know enough about VHF/UHF or whatever the thing that goes ping to tell you where an airfield is though, might be an issue. It could come into its own if a blank map could be created so mission builders can raise elevation, add towns and airports.

What 3 screens though for under $1500 Aussie?
-
Some great comments thank you all. I don’t want VR just yet, I am a soft pomme in Australia and even padded headphones have me sweating like a Virgin in a brothel, I recon full on VR I would need a personal AC unit! Plus I get travel sick bad. I thought projector because I am building a pit and frankly enjoy playing on a 27” 1080p so a projector should be better? What I didn’t like was when I put a 60” plasma in just to test the big screen feel, but it just made everything big, I don’t want to just stretch the 32” screen to 100”, I want the cockpit the same size but with a bigger field of view. My pit will be in a different room to my usual setup as I also play a lot of games like Rise of Industry or Company of Heroes and FPS so I thought I could use the projector when I am flying and donate it to the movie room when I am elsewhere. I was also thinking I need a screen to replace the old 1080p perhaps I could get a decent monitor for the Other games and just move it to the front of the pit, but then is a 27” widescreen 4K better than a 1080p projector?

Whether to get a projector or not!

What did you end up with? I’m not sure about a projector now!

So could I image warp one projector? I saw a racing sim: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/diy-wraparound-screen-gt6-racing-simulator-its-like-youre-there-80474.html and I think if i move it back a bit i could perhaps get a bit more of a curve?

Hey guys, Has anyone heard from BHawthorne, he hasnt been around since 2016 but have a question on Input and Output I would like him to comment on regarding possible FOV with one projector? Thanks
-
I am just about to purchase an Acer Predator for the movie room and for the pit. I know a few members are well educated on projectors so was wondering: What sort of curved view (in terms of degrees) could you get from one projector, it says it can project upto 300inches diagonal but suspect 120 is the sweet spot, do these things do wide screen like a letterbox or do they just scale equally in all directions Any knowledge of this particular unit. Is it the FOV settings that keep the Cockpit ‘normal’ sized when projecting bigger world area? Appreciate any help.

I think Trip built a new EJ seat for realism and it fired him through the roof.... -
So let me try and help for a really basic panel. Buy one of these: https://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76_81&products_id=235 GPWIZ40 USB - make sure its USB. Others are available but this is very simple to use. Buy switches for the panel you want to simulate Follow this: ${1} DCS recognises the GPWIZ40 as a controller, so when you setup your controls in DCS - as well as mapping G to Gear, you can map Gear Up to the GPWIZ40 position what is wired to your gear up switch. Tigershark has some great videos so subscribe to his youtube channel and there are 3 or 4 on this.

How long does it take to print a box like that and which printer do you have??

Comfirmation that I need to a new graphic cards.
Mr_Burns replied to thdman1511's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Im running on an R9 200 just fine. Look at it this way, if you buy the Hornet and it stutters by a new card. Or buy a new card and buy the Hornet. The only difference is you may not need a new card for now! You are going to buy the Hornet anyway, its calling you... -
Table mounted landing gear selector switch from a Tornado
Mr_Burns replied to DeadMeat's topic in Home Cockpits
Just lying around!! They dont seem to have any of that in Aus. Edit: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PANAVIA-TORNADO-AIRCRAFT-COCKPIT-LANDING-GEAR-LEVER/232916936614?hash=item363aee67a6:g:DO0AAOSwy6la8PEf And as if by magic.......... -
Also, start your own thread if you must, not fair for us to drift Andrews thread off topic. Or look for another thread asking similar questions such as where to start and resurrect it. Also, do you need me to send you a CAPS LOCK button to turn off Capitals?

Damn Lynx they are nice!

Iceman most of the people here are making their own panels, there are many ways to build you own depending on your skills. If you are only after buying panels finished and plug and play you wont find many as the demand is pretty low and the price is pretty high. Most people are using the Thrustmaster MFDs which are really the only ones on the market. My suggestion would be to start with a touch screen second monitor and helios and potentially this: https://www.dogfightboss.com/
