Tigersharks thread is gold starting out for tactile panels: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65998 however it may have some 404's being so old and Tigershark not being around atm? Ive never used Ikarus but Helios thanks to KaptnZeen is awesome for a second monitor and very user friendly with a large community. You can find his threads here and on the parent input and output forum. Uhid looks a bit expensive or limited compared to Groovy Game Gear (GGG) or LeoBodnar which are plug and play and easily integrated with Helios. My advice for a starter panel would be Helios and a Leo Bodnar as you will get awesome advice on here. If you want to go a little deeper and probably the supported future of DCS the input and output would be DCS Bios with Helios. My apologies for Ikarus as I havnt used it.

Why you need 8 monitors? A solution may be a way to use fewer monitors.

Hey guys, check this out as a possible solution to encoders: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3566348&postcount=8

Thanks for all the responses guys, always a great help. One more question, I need to but caps for them, is it called a D shaft or something, all the ones I have seen are for grooved shaft with the cutout bit down the middle of it.

What interface are you using? Couldn't Helios or DCS Bios say every click is (say) 12 clicks?

DCS-BIOS F/A-18C library. Get it here!
Mr_Burns replied to Bullant's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
For some reason when I ran it today it all worked fine, so I blame the computer. Looks like its going to take me about 3 nanos for the UFC and Hud control box though. What is a better arduino solution for say all of the left hand panels so I dont have as many USB devices, and you create breakout boards? -

I cant even get the bloody control-reference to open in firefox! I am not cut out for PCs Did that finally - this is going to be a long day! Hey with the F/A-18 - do you have to add a new library or is the DCS Bios 7.01 fine? -
Im in the same boat mate, I think you need to get aluminium bar or tube. With Bar, drill out the core to the size of the toggle and either glue it or drill a small grub nut. You could then use a drill to rotate it as you shape it and perhaps glue a top on it? Adhesives are tough, you could cut a coin with a Dremel and glue it or epoxy it to a switch head and paint it in chrome paint?

Nice pit mate! Like your space.

So what about VR in games like PUBG or Insurgency? Or do you go back to the 4K screen for that?

Can you add a scream in too if his chute collapses and he falls to his death? Better than an explosion. A thud too and small puff of dust. The hueys can rescue the body, no man left behind. -
What is looking like a good Monitor for DCS (with a Simpit) but also for Insurgency and strategy games etc. I was thinking 28” is too small?

Problem I have is I dont upgrade very often. I can fly DCS and play every other game with acceptable performance (for me) on my old i7-2600k with an R9-200 GPU. Granted I only fly in 1920x1280 on a 28" screen. So if I went to the latest and it lasts me 5 years or I wait until the latest come out and the current ones price drops I can lose. Except I am always waiting!!

Far out, i9, last year I was about to but a new system, then all my crypto crashed. Just got some shares available and about to build and now i9 is coming....

Ive not gone VR yet and I am building a pit mainly for the hobby of building a pit, I recon once its finished my PC will rock and a next gen VR will probably replace it as I cannot afford multiple projectors, of course that is depending on if I get motion sickness when I try it. You may be better asking yourself what you want from DCS, many of the pit builders probably build more than they fly. As you are probably aware, you can get by with a startup switch and hotas commands (with some UFC inputs) so why build a pit? Dont know about VR and physical switches, but if you look at the Eurofighter cockpit all the switches you need to use in combat have different shaped levers so you know what you are touching without looking, a bit like the visually impaired use braille. re -reading your post, building a simpit is an experience where you learn (or use your skills) to create something, its not so much about the sim, more about the build, the build is bigger than DCS imo. If you are not bothered about the build journey, from what I have read on here, the VR experience is awesome. One final thought, if you have a decent rig, VR is not that expensive and is pretty much immediate gratification which can be used for more than just flight simming whereas a simpit will take you a long time and can only be used for flight sims, if you are really unsure, buy a VR headset :-)

What about a re run of the original Cougar Throttle. Actually would be quite a coup for Thrustmaster to design a generic throttle base similar to the Warthog stick so you can have interchangeable grips.

Mr_Burns replied to dFlow's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not built it yet, Ive got some parts built, just working on the UFC but mine will look different as I fly A-10 as well, Im putting a small screen in to show the UFC Inputs and Warnings and a small keyboard rather than a keypad, that way in A-10C i can use the screen for the CDU and the Keyboard for the inputs. -

I didnt, I just use A B C D E and mapped them to the MFDs. A few of us tried to use software to use a second keyboard recognized as a different device but nothing worked too well. What I do now, is use the finger lever on the warthog as a multiplier and then you can use your USB keypad as a different device (although you have to press the multiplier obviously). -
I was scratching my head thinking why would china develop an anti cruise ship missile, must be a bit slow this morning! Is this missile a skimmer or something else? What is the intention, another weapon to increase the depth of the sim or can they be targets for your aircraft to intercept? I am curious because at the moment Naval operations are pretty limited to launching aircraft which can be done out of range of these, so if you are going to be getting in close to these, what do you think we might be doing?

Mr_Burns replied to dFlow's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Its great, this MFD was the first panel I ever made before the Cougars came out. I took apart a keyboard and used its control board to make some USB inputs, built a MDF Panel to fit around a 15" monitor and made my first MFD in a decent size! Actually thinking about doing something similar but a little more refined on my latest F/A-18C inspired pit, I want a much bigger digital map than a cougar. -
Not sure you need to worry about all that, there are not that many inputs/outputs if you only want the physical switches and buttons that matter.

Hi, can anyone help or confirm they are/i am insane? I program my Hotas and MFD directly into DCS and create a profile.lua Just now, spent 20 minutes setting up a SP mission in editor...all my profiles are reset. They are saved inside the DCS folder but not in any dedicated folder, should I be saving them in a completely different folder or do user created missions not read personal settings? 2 times i reprogrammed the Hotas Joystick and MFDs (for some reason the Hotas Throttle seems to retain settings). Arrrrrrrrrge :joystick::joystick::joystick:

They are awesome Lynx - are they 3D printed and laser cut? That is some lovely work.

I use one in mine, tip, i use the paddle switch on the stick as a multiplier, program the usb keyboard commands you want to use with a multiplier. This is my A-10 UFC - to use it I just hold the paddle switch and press the keys.

F18 MFD exports now work with a very quick tweak.
