To be fair, he presented that as seeing the boat too late, since he said he was looking at instruments until the RIO mentioned the trawler off to the side. The flying supersonic at 50 feet part is what sounded either like an exaggeration or... unsafe to me. From the comfort of my home office with no gear on, I have a hard time staying at 100 ft supersonic with no fear of losing my life or the 40 million dollar plane in Real life. She wants to climb or sink and that doesn't leave a lot of room for the latter.

Bio said in Tomcat RIO the fastest he ever went was 1.76 Mach at 34000 on a PMCF. What's your top speed, Victory?
-
Sounds like the speed limits came later when the many of the A's were accumulating many hours with no hope of replacement, and his would have been fresh (at least as he mentioned when they got the block 90s to replace the older 60s he mentioned he was so bummed out by).
-
IIRC you can do them discretely or you can do "next and previous." Unless and until I build a right vertical panel, I have the latter mapped to my stick (with the steer command TACAN and Destination).

Oh I read that wrong, sorry. Thanks for the update!

So it turned too good before?
-
Curious if Stable is showing the turn rate issue. Is F-14A on stable yet?

I created autoexec.cfg in C:\Users\Uxi\Saved Games\DCS\Config and put in: force_cross_eye_recovery_tool = false Still appears, though. For that matter, if it wasn't there with a true, why was it appearing at all?

Best interview evar. I usually never watch the whole thing but yeah I'll watch anything Shoes does. I would like more "pimp" and "scary" stories from him. The Vulcan intercept was great, too.

I've been flying the Tomcat 95% of the time with a little bit of SU-27, and I keep getting this error and have been waiting more than 9-10 minutes. Then I tried the Cold Start and had the same thing (obviously this needs to be updated). Then I found this thread. I'll have to try the IFA for a bit.

Is there any progress with a solution for dynamic modex?

Mods - Is it possible to get sub-folders here please?

Good idea. Defending on software, sometimes a limit how long a thread can be edited. People sometimes leave the boards. Etc. Subforum allows specific moderators, stickies, etc. -
The Legit Discussion for PTID on the F-14B and late F-14A
Uxi replied to SkyhawkDriver's topic in Heatblur Simulations
My understanding was the F-14D fishbowls (and probably the F-14A+/B) had a higher resolution than the older ones in the F-14A (which had to be replaced if they wanted to have the LANTIRN). Initial models of F-14D had the (newer) round fishbowl with the new DDD while the PTID only became standard later. Similarly, there did seem to be (many) F-14A since that never saw the new screens especially if they were TARPS planes, but hard to find an F-14B in the configuration we have with LANTIRN without a PTID (though they all had the old little square DDD). Honestly, I'd want the Sparrowhawk more than the PTID. That never really seems to have existed either, but would be most useful. -
I was using my 970 FTW and had PD at 0.9 to 1.0 and most settings mid/low and it was playable. Everything is on high now with 2070 though still planning to upgrade to 3080 or maybe 3090 in the next year (deliberately underspeced since I got tired of waiting for Ampere last November and plan to reuse 2070 for a RIO/wingman build this year

G2 sounds great on resolution, etc though if I had no limit and wanted to jump before Christmas, I'd probably go Pimax 8kx for the greater FOV. For now I'm content with the Odyssey+. I'm sure I would appreciate a G2 though I don't preorder and hoping for Index 2 or a new entry for Samsung with G2 resolution and greater FOV in 2021. I'll be building a new computer for my wife in the next year and will hand the Odyssey down to that one to be a RIO and/ or pilot and/or wingman.

Do they? We should have the option or chance of getting a fresh bird, too then? Would be nice to have that control in the mission editor.
-
That's an interesting idea. Aged aircraft would probably be most easily linked with increased probably of systems failure mechanism (perhaps reworked). Never really going to have maintenance down birds, though or missing/limited parts or any of the tedious Real World logistics issues any more than we have limits on ammunition, missiles, or fuel.
-
Are they? Doesn't seem they've touched it since release. Not stealing their thunder made a certain amount of sense then since they were trying to sell it as something new, but hard to see it would matter now.

Right. As Shoes Mullen said, he thinks the plane could routinely do 9G but it wouldn't do it for long since they'd bleed energy so fast pulling that many G's (as would every plane). There's no way for the game to really emulate the budgetary, or even frankly, survivability concerns. No way to force people to do frame inspections or paperwork and the plane COULD do it. The simulator only needs to make sure the wings get ripped off or the engines get ripped out at certain limits or other things (to include the pilot) get broken at certain limits and that appears to be quite accurately modeled. We also know the rest of DCS is not up to this standard, particularly the FC3 planes, so have no compunction going beyond peacetime limits imposed for budgetary and ultimately political considerations.

As pilot, have an axis flap lever (on Virpil throttle). Flying high about 40k and fast about 450 kts. Press 2 for RIO pit and use that flap lever for radar elevation. It's pulled down since high. Hooking targets, etc Press 1 to back to pilot... broken flaps.
-
I was using the flap lever in the RIO pit and when switched back to pilot they went back at about 450 knots the plane became nigh uncontrollable and there were no doubts at all that something was very very wrong. Are we able to overspeed the gear? Was watching the interview with Shoes Mullen where he ripped off his gear doors and damaged the gear hydraulics and curious about that. Great interview with lots of laughs. At least we don't have bloc 60s with only manual control of man flaps!

Too late I'm hitting them up. And my Congressman.

Then on other pics I see it like Reflected did where is not on the bags. Certainly possible a variation... or they changed the bags or paint wore off quicker or something like that since the bags seemed to stain with fluids and/or environmental change on the different material.

Didn't really notice any handling difference though did notice the F110 didn't make the bang noise when lighting the burners this time. Everything on the TF30 seemed the same with the 5 puffs. I saw the new livery. Is it accurate that they painted the red line over the inflatable glove bags and base tips of the tails? I've seen that on one of my Hobbymaster Tomcats and thought it might have been a rote paintjob or mistake on their part, though seeing it here makes me think they did that sometimes.
