  1. you can try fly really low, maverick style low, at 20/30ft the sa10 won't launch on you Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  2. I had some flight tests yesterday, detection rangesin HI prf for the hornet are definetely better than before the patch. Also tried some high to low scenario (Hornet angels 26, hot f16 coming at 500ft AGL, and i had no problem picking him up on radar on HI PRF and VS mode a bit further than 40nm I think. VS mode is particulary good at picking hot very fast target, you get good hits over 50nm for fighter size targets, which is great.
  3. Great discussion, I hope it can keep up to get the best existing simulation in a consumer product. 2 things strike my mind after reading ED whitepaper: 1-According to the graph the Apg73 has better detection range that the Apg63 all things considered? (diff. in Antenna diameter, peak power...), as far as I remember the ranges are lower to some known as the public data 2-I see no reference 8n the paper to difference in detection range in look down and look up situations close to the ground, coming from side lobe interference, is that a phase 2 feature? what should we expect for the time being? 4. I guess that means they just included the new mode but under the same radar framework code. It is supposed to change in the future. Hi PRF modes like VRS should pick fast hot target a bit earlier than MPRF modes. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  5. Is this coming with the new first iteration of the new radar framework announced in the last newsletter? or is that coming later?
  6. I'd like this new framework to gradually translate to existing modules, even FC3. I understand that is not feasible without somekind of financial support, so maybe from 2025 onwards when FC3 models will be in desperate need of a cockpit retexturing/remodelling ED will take every update done through the years, like the updated radar framework and pack it in a budget friendly FC4 product.
  7. Resources, which mean free time of the team members in charge of the weapons systems. They'll come at some point.
  8. I think that is doomed to dissappear at some point down the road Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  9. That would be nice, it would open up so many tactical considerations for low level flying, I think the mirage 2000 from Razbam already simulates this which is neat. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  10. @BIGNEWY thanks a lot and cheers to the team, lovely info. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  11. Thanks Nineline, I'm sure the team is busy and appreciate the feedback, if I may ask for something, for me part of the fun is also reading about what has been developed, kind of a white paper style as the team did for the Amraam refactoring some years ago. I really enjoyed that as much as just receiving the patch with the changes. If you have the opportunity please let the team know some of us would love something like this. 12. The real aircraft has what you'd call in windows mouse acceleration, basically is sense pressure so can be extremely fast when needed or extremely precise if force applied is subtle. In this video you can kind of see how the tdc accelarates in certain moments.
  13. I would be happy enough with a newsletter chapter explaining which are the main items being refactored and how ambitious is ED on this. What things like scan azimuth means in this context, what was wrong about that (:/?) What about probabilities of detection, detecting chaff, behavior of prf other than different baked in detection ranges, introduction to basic RCS changes depending on aspect... 14. I like your outdoor activities definition sir, my respect
  15. If it comes in July the preview access to youtubers creators this week is not very thoroughly thought if you ask me. I'm still counting this will come earlier. No one in the team said "Guys are all the EA buyers a bit pissed off not having the plane but watching YT content for 2 months? Nahh hand me another beer! XD In anycase its ok for me, I can waste my flying time mastering other jets I almost never fly.
  16. Well, it's coming this Wednesday/Thursday so little time left to suffer. *Source*: None, My intuition given known material, and the release to content creators. I expect a cold start video from RB probably Monday/Tuesday. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk

  18. I understand. Don't take it as a rant, just a suggestion to better handle customer expectations. In fact maybe worth exploring giving a planned window a bit wider (eg. Next patch: "estimated week 15th-19th") but then putting this a bit earlier, not the same day it happens. This has one additional positive psychological effect, it generates the surprise factor of not knowing whether the patch will be Tuesday, Wednesday... which mean more healthy hype and more room for the devs when bugs appear. 19. @BIGNEWY if i may put in here some positive criticism related to the PATCH STATUS thread, it does not make a lot of sense to leave the planned date unknown until the very same date of the patch, only for some hours later delay to the next day. What i mean is, i know that is wishful planning when things can go wrong, so if a patch was expected for today you could very well update that on Monday or past Friday, and if its delay all is fine. Otherwise it kind of defeats the purpose of that thread as a public planning reference to check.
  20. What is exactly the main items and changes that are being developed in general terms? Any news on when will have updates in a newsletter?
  21. Hopefully one day we'll see this implemented, it is a very important part of RL defensive tactics and maneuvers, just like preventive flares which indeed work in DCS very effectively.
  22. In RL you have a STT reject that automatically switch to the next target, but as far as I know this logic is not currently implemented (in all auto acq modes after rejecting a target, the radar should avoid that same target for a period of time/radar cycles) For the time being you have 2 options I would say: 1- you could try the HMD I HAQ mode, that let you be a bit more selective with your target selecrion. You'll need to manually place the HAQ circle within the target you desire and avoiding the second target being within the same circle. 2-Other option is using the Aim9x without radar lock, just placing the seeker circle in one target , uncaging, shooting, then quickly look at the second target, uncage and shoot again, quite simple and effective. 23. Sounds like a bug to me. They've probably not considered the expand function and the TDC is moving by its original radar coverage parameters of the non expanded view. I will test it today to see if I can reproduce on my setup EDIT: just tested myself, I don't see anything wrong, for me the TDC does not move too fast when in Exp mode, is perfectly usable. BTW my tdc is assigned as an axis to my virpil index TDC cursor
  24. But can the Su27 fighter to fighter data link receive info from more than 3 other planes? On a maybe not so relevant sidenote, a data link from the same time-frame in the Ka50 can only receive data from his 4 element package (3 other wingmen). I've maybe incorrectly assumed similar limitations for flankers/fulcrums datalinks from the 80s/90s. Enviado desde mi ELE-L29 mediante Tapatalk
  25. Exactly, as Harker said. You can hover with the TDC and select the TWS. Why they didn't make it to an physical button in the HOTAS like in other jets I would not understand. Apparently the real TDC in the throttle use a force sensing mechanism that lets you be really precise going for the different options, "PC-Mouse like". But I would never know unless one day i find a hornet parked in front of my house.... If you are not a realism freak you can always bind it to your HOTAS as I've done myself. BTW, I know that the hornet has this neat function of saving a set of parameters like range,HRP, bars to a certain weapon, which i use a lot, I wonder if in the latest SW OFP/lots you could for example do the same including the TWS mode, so for example you use the sparrow WCS as your normal RWS wide search mode but when you go WCS forward to select the AMRAAM you directly enter in TWS...
