DCS on 55" 4k TV - performance tips
HiJack replied to Andy t's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This may be a place to look for the measured data on your TV. Remember that PC monitors normally is between 2 - 5 ms gray to gray when viewing your TV's input lag :music_whistling: https://displaylag.com/ EDIT: The two values, Response Time (PC Monitor) and Input Lag (TV) is not the same so doing some research before buying a TV to game on is necessary. On a PC Monitor the Response Time is the value to have as low as possible. For flight sim 5ms is ok. But good cables is important both on PC Monitor and if you are using a TV! -

Err, sorry. Yes of course, input lag. Typically 2 - 5 ms Gray/Gray og a gaming monitor. On a TV often 20 or more but TV producers don't really pay much attention to this number and seems to just pick one that suits them. So checking reviews etc. on what you got or are going to get is essential. -

Yes that is what I am talking about also. Check your cable first Andy and make sure you have the correct one. -

Yes I agree. New TV's are somewhat more suited for flight sim and some even have a decent refresh rate. But does the HDMI interface have the same throughput as the DisplayPort? I haven't looked but I believe TV's normally wont have the DP port. EDIT: A quick check reveals that DP is a bit better than HDMI but not that much. So Andy! Maybe make sure you use a "Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable" which is the only one capable of the massive data transport with HDMI 2.0. -
2nd keyboard with custom key mappings?
HiJack replied to steve2112's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, but this will of course work. You still need autohotkey though. The setup in this thread you don't need anything else but a keyboard and the free program. :) -
You can still download. You will get an error on license but ignore that and just copy the campaigns and uninstall the FC3 when done.

Playing on TV is bad. You need a "monitor" that is designed for the refresh speed your video card produces. There are monitors to get that is up to 55". I play on a 43" that have 5ms refresh rate and even there you can see tearing in some instances. If you check the refresh rate on your TV I guess it is in the range of 10-20ms if it is even mentioned. -
The ED campaign for the A-10A is working now in 2.5.6. If you have the single A-10A license then install FC3 and copy the campaigns from there. You will get a LICENSE warning but just uninstall FC3 after copying.

Yes yes yes! I love it!

DCS is free to download and play so you can test it!

Try local art schools in your area. You may even find Russian speaking folks there. Edit: And I agree, robotic voices in missions makes me quit and never run that mission again. Deleted,

Weird trouble: PC resets when firing missiles or rockets

Have you tested with graphics turned down to the minimum in DCS? -

I believe the original route is removed when you start to change it's waypoints. One changed it's no way back, you need to keep on telling the unit how to move.

I'm using Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals and they work perfectly. Not to costly either. :) These:

Just add airborne aircrafts with no fuel.

Unfortunately pilots don't survive the water in DCS. Or at least they didn't use to. But you can have as many as you like to be bailing when mission starts or you can also add more as the mission progresses when using triggers.

add 3 - 4 planes that is at the standard altitude and have no fuel. They will most lightly bail out :)

2nd keyboard with custom key mappings?

Remember to install both Microsoft Visual C++ redistributals 2010. Both 64bit and 32bit, at least that's what I did. -
2nd keyboard with custom key mappings?
HiJack replied to steve2112's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes. 1. In Win 10 search box you write "cmd" and select the "Run as administrator" just under the command window icon that shows up. Nothing will work if this is done wrong. 2. Navigate the commandline window to the folder where you have the remapper installed. (f.eks mine is: C:\script\remapper) 3. When in the correct folder with the command window you run the "install-interception.exe" program with the switch /install. Command should look like this: install-interception.exe /install 4. Ensure you have a return information that the interception program states "INSTALLED". 5. reboot the pc. 6. for the remapper to work in Windows 10 the "remapper.exe" must be set to compatibility mode for Windows 7 and set to run as administrator. 7. Edit the batch file you use to start the remapper to include the complete path to the remapper.exe file. Se my example of batch job in the code section. If your command window just quits without you seeing what is displayed then just add a "pause" in the end of the batch job. Hope this helps folks getting the remapper working in Windows 10. Batchjob example. (rename the batch file to <whatevername>.cmd) cd C:\script\remapper\ C:\script\remapper\remapper.exe DCS_FC3_remapper.txt -
Yes please :)

Highly recommended to listen to the complete podcast. All the other podcasts there also for that matter.

Hawkeye, do you run the M2 as the system boot disk and have DCS there as well? :noexpression: -
Soviet Union fighter aircraft have their glory days but you need to pinpoint the exact date and make the mission with the exactly right armament for both sides. You will rarely find a battle that includes all the arms in DCS World at one point in real time. There is a spread sheet made up on the forum here somewhere that pinpoints dates for the aircraft and armament you can use. Personally I think ED should do more job on presenting what is for any date in time, should maybe be a selection in ME so you only can choose between released armaments in the set date time.

Currently all my systems are down for long time service, including myself but I completely agree with Dutch. You have a great product that means a lot for many people and you are doing great! Keep up the good work! I will be back.... :)
