  1. Not if the full world state at that time is taken. Imagine it as an automatic periodic save (probably not viable performance wise though). Considering all the variables that are active in a given mission, it just takes one not to be recorded correctly, to induce a butterfly effect. Track Playback has been an issue ever since Flanker 1, the amount of variables to be tracked has exploded since then. Also, updates are far far more frequent, it is impossible to expect playback compatibility between versions. A rambling, but productive discussion. :) Nate
  2. I think his point was not the lossy compression but rather the use of "Key Frames" (full state world snapshots) to periodically correct for delta deviation in the playback. Also these "Key Frames" might be a route toward the return of the much missed in mission Save feature. Nate
  3. I Don't believe it is fixable, but it also is useful for troubleshooting. Nate
  4. I don't think you'll have to do it often - I've only seen it once or twice. The issue isn't that the plane is set to uncontrolled - the Player Aircraft never spawns, as the AI is in its parking spot. Nate
  5. I've seen this where the ME gets confused with parking spots between player and AI flights. Changing the player spot and re-saving usually does the trick. Nate
  6. Much Obliged! Nate
  7. I believe this arises from the Dynamic compression used by the Sound engine. This was an improvement made in the early DCS days and one I've hated ever since. It Dynamically normalises the Volume of Sounds in the game world. It is like the compression used for the "Loudness wars" on digital music. The Most dramatic effect of which can be felt on the Supersonic Boom of an aircraft Flyby. In LockOn this was a thunderous Boom, with plenty of Dynamic Range between quiet and loud, in DCS it sounds like a wet fart. The Current sound engine normalizes quiet sound up in volume and noisy sounds down, in real time, in order to avoid clipping. This strips all sound in DCS of all Dynamic range, removing detail from the sound-scape and produces oddities such as Sound Radar. From Speaking to c0ff about this very issue (quite some time ago though), it is unlikely to be fixed. Nate
  8. I think I will wait so. My PMs are full (850, out of 100, used :) I must fix that someday) thanks anyway Chris. Nate
  9. Hi Chris - any chance you could document the changes required for changing the Player Aircraft? Nate
  10. I want more FC3 level Aircraft - lots of them. Nate
  11. A quick translate yields ........... "With IP radio players is no firm plans. We will see." Nate
  12. Would need to see the control indicator in that Vid - while his joystick might be fully deflected - in game it may not be. Nate
  13. Not quite - Mipmaps are essential to removing the problem of texture aliasing at distance in any 3D application. The P-51 in particular was terrible for it in DCS. Nate
  14. Ahh yes - that is why the feature was removed - because it introduced shimmering from the lack of mip-maps. Nate
  15. I'd counter that the original looks like late Afternoon, where the edited one looks to be around noon. Nate
  16. It isn't possible as far as I know - it was implemented at one point but it caused issues with other stuff within the sim IIRC. Nate
  17. That's a good point - I don't touch campaigns any more, simply because they are a time heavy investment. Another upside would be missions could also be designed more like Real-time campaigns. Different elements created by the mission designer, entering the mission to span over a whole day for example. The player could progress though the "Day" mini campaign at their leisure. The Upside is that unlike the current campaigns, the "World" State is preserved when the player goes back to the Mini-campaign. The Existing Resources system would finally have a use in single player, as mission is no longer just a few hours long. Edit:- and just think of what Combined Arms would become - it would no longer be just a tactical module, it could be used as a strategic simulator. A CA General deploying forces over the whole map. CA becomes a War simulator rather than a Battle simulator. Nate
  18. Hmmm Pilot G fatigue was definitely modelled at one point - is it no longer there? Nate
  19. This feature existed a long long time ago in Lock On and it disappeared. Would love to see it return. Nate
  20. Add a Loadout to your aircraft, then add the wingmen to your flight....... Nate
  21. Those WW2 Videos were brilliant! Nate
  22. Lock on did have an Intro feature that would play cut scenes and/or track replays at the start of a mission. Music can be added during the mission with the Existing trigger system. Black Shark had "Radio Mayak" you could tune to also. Nate
  23. Just posting to subscribe, so I'll know when the issue is fixed. Nate
