I wish it were the default. But I'll just keep putting back the edit after every update.

Haha I feel you man. I own almost everything in the DCS stable, but I am hardly tactical in a third of them, and I haven't touched another third. Then the ones I know how to start and fight with, I am hardly proficient. But hey!, we're having fun, aren't we? As to the question wether the A-10C upgrade is worth it? IMO, yes it is. The helmet mounted sight is worth the price of admission in itself. APKWS is hilarious.

Re. The voice acting, would it be possible to have russian voice with english subtitles?

Retried it again, this time taking care to boot the chopper up right, then very carefully and never staying in one spot longer than 30s laying waste to the blue baddies... the script went tits-up. I flew home, as fuel was about to become an issue. Accidentally flew over the trigger point. In quick succession the game told me to proceed, I was done, the bombers could go in.. And then it just stopped. The bombers bombed something, and everybody was happy. Two hinds flew about a bit, but never did anything but fly home. I ended the mission, only to have to refly it.

Is this front loaded difficulty or do all the flights expect us to do things like night landings? Couldn't you at least have made it a pinky?
-
Retried it. Booted it up right so I got the proper permission to take off. Flew high this time and hovered at 8km out. Looking down a bit gives at least some chance of picking out the things between the things. Fiddled some with the displays brightness and contrast. Managed to find the cluster of units and took great care to take out the BMP-2 überhubschrauberabwehrpanzer first. I put some of the other things to the vikhr, but got blasted by the other SA-13, which was cleverly hidden behind the smoke pillars of the things I killed.

Hi, This problem has been around since... well forever. It destroys much of the single player fun, as it's unrealistic and punishing. Used to be I fixed it by editing a .lua file to make things like the BMP-2 and -3, the marders, etc. far less accurate versus air targets. It does not make any sense that a BMP is a better air defence unit than a ZSU. It is unrealistic and annoying that a BMP would swat a helicopter using a wire guided missile from 5km's out. Defensive fire from nonspecialised ground units should be mostly spray&pray and only become remotely dangerous within 500 to a 100 meters. @NineLinePlease report this to the team, it's a fairly simple edit that IIRC does not break anything. @everyone please second this post or explain to me why it is realistic that Vasili Zaitsev in his T-55 is a better air defence unit than a ZSU-23-4. Here is a link to the edits I made back when to make them less annoying and make more sense. https://forums.mudspike.com/t/hack-your-dcs-or-how-i-stopped-worrying-and-love-the-bmp/6005

correct as-is Remove obstruction in front of RWR
schurem replied to FalcoGer's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Huh, so that explains. I have taken to binding camera slew functions to a shift+hat in order to put my head on the virtual pilot bodies' shoulders, peeking down the headset to see if his shoulders line up with mine. That often leaves gunsights and hud's almost useless without leaning into them. So that's how it is IRL huh? Interesting -
This one sure isn't easy! having a hard time picking out the strela's between the buildings.. Edit: And of course I got sniped by a BMP-2, the most feared air defence unit in the world. I was only 6km off in the distance, trying to pick them out amongst the clutter.

Ahahaha the "gutless cutlass" naw thank you man! Put an A-6 in there and you're making your point. Thing *did* look rather fetching, I'll give you that. While the hornet drivers might try and make puerile nonsense about the sexual orientation of their refuelling method, they are still the ones so scared of their engine going tits up they insist on bringing two of them, and piddly little things they are. Chad viper driver on the other hand can trust his maintenance crew and flies that single monster engine to whatever may come and is confident he'll come out on top.

Mission 1 Case 3 departure procedures question
schurem replied to MagicSlave's topic in F-14A Fear the Bones Campaign
Speculating, but maybe the risk of getting run over by the ship in case of a bailout is less than the risk of vertigo just after blastof? -
There you go! At last someone stopped preening his manicure long enough to put up something resembling a proper defence of that anemic plastic toy. (Fwiw, the hornet is a fun module) Now don't get me started on DCS fliers tactics. Where every bug driver squeals like a little girl, pulls the paddle to overstress the airframe, then does not get an epic spanking from his plane captain or whatever the navy equivalent. Sure these jets don't have long legs, neither the bug nor the viper does. At least the viper has pretty short legs

Hi gang, I wanted to build a mission where the player starts a Mi-24 from the deck of a cargo ship such as the Handy Wind. However, when I click it to start on ramp, it snaps to an airfield. If I click start on ground, a dialog pops up how the ship is not suitable ground. Help? Or am I desiring to do the impossible? Cheers, Schurem

It's great innit? As busy as we often are finding fault and seeking improvement, it is one glorious bitof software ED built. Here's to the next 35 years of simulated flight!

Kids y'all ain't getting it. The "friendly rivalry" is not about having a polite, rational exchange of pros and cons. It's about style. Identity. Esprit de corps. So you don't weakly say the hornet is a very good aircraft, but the viper has a slight edge in p/w. Naw man. Hornet's a plastic toy, only meant for the sort of effeminate mother's boy who loves living cooped up in a tin can with a thousand men smelling of old socks and whose idea of mud moving is fearfully lobbing cruise missiles from a thousand miles out. Now a viper, that'll put hair on your balls. The viper is so gucci, it has a recliner ejection seat. It's so perfect it outflies the eagle even though it has only one of the eagle's engines. Moving mud in a viper means flying down the gullet of a SAM's engagement zone, baiting it to take its best shot the dropping a brace of CBU right down at where the smoke trail originates. See? P.s. that I haven't seen any hornet driver put up any defence of their toy worth a damn proves my point. Hoo-ah.

If your idea of moving mud is to drive a truck around and wallow in it, get an A10. For proper weaseling, the hornet lacks power. For proper cas, the hornet lacks power. For proper low level interdiction or strike runs, the hornet lacks power. Do I detect a theme here? Siempre Viper baby, the rest are left in the dust.

Did this already come up? : More granular control over ground unit accuracy. It's fine that a BMP can shoot something on the ground at 2km, but vs air targets it should spray & pray at the most. Dangerously accurate fire should (IMO) be the province of specialised units, like the ZSU.

(screenshot blatantly cribbed from Damson) Oh mighty Krokodil, chariot of satan himself, You the chaddest of chad machines, With your engines mighty whine and thwockathwocka at high A oh A. Those mighty wings on high with menacing swoop Carrying doom for capitalist and barbarian alike Like a sniper with the gun going blyat blyat blyat or the sound of God's own fart make all target in smoke disappear and leave their mothers in fear. All of the rockets snug in their pods sing songs of Soviet glory as they race to dig the imperialists' early grave. Monster helicopter looking so mean you have featured in many kids' dream either of glorious service to motherland dear or as a nightmares central fear. I my Hind, and in time I think it will me back. Bally good show ED!

available now Is it looking good for a second quarter release ?
schurem replied to ctguy1955's topic in DCS: Marianas
Heh probably because the patch was already heavy at 60gb. -
Haha when you turn on pilot body it's immediately obvious how borked the default head position is. And, following that, that something is severely off about the gunsight's orientation.
-
correct as is Cannot fire rockets if also equipped with guns.
schurem replied to deathbysybian's topic in Bugs and Problems
So how do I switch between rocket pods? I only see a left/both/right switch, not an inner/outer one. -

schurem replied to deathbysybian's topic in Bugs and Problems
But you can have four pods of rockets, right? And can you have two and two of different types of rockets?
