DCS needs mandatory unified keyboard controls
DayGlow replied to 159th_Falcon's topic in DCS Wishlist
Much easier to use the keymapper with the sim. DCS does a great job and is very flexible. No need to use an external program. -
[Su-25T] Cockpit view changes from mission to mission and autopilot issue
DayGlow replied to Razi's topic in Su-25T Issues
Are the training missions videos? I think they were made back when the SU-25T was a 2D cockpit. -
Why? We supported DCS before it was the success it is now.

Bunyap Sims is a great channel. He talks through his missions and tutorials and gives you an idea of what tactics work https://www.youtube.com/user/4023446

X-55 Mouse Nipple Modification - PART ONE
DayGlow replied to BrassEm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Although it maybe too late, I've used this registry tweak with great effect for my X-65 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1060211#post1060211 Basically you can assign analog axis to the mini-stick. Works great for TDC slew -
VR and pit building are 2 different things. A pit builder is creating an actual reality vs a virtual reality.

Sort of non-issue with DCS level modelled aircraft as all the commands are 'in world' with the clickable pit. I can find my mouse with eyes closed as I know where it is on my desk. Between your HOTAS and mouse you should be able to fly.

iControl DCS (Another iPad pit)
DayGlow replied to boarder2's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
There's another CDU app in the app store now https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dcs-a-10c-cdu-aap/id956722244?mt=8 although I do like icontrol better as it has more function this app is able to export the CDU display without a viewport active in the game. I like this because you get the green letters on a black background instead of the terrain behind the CDU display. Could icontrol do something like this? -
I remember the sim Mig Alley had an interesting way of dealing with visibility, aircraft had a shimmer at a distance ${1} Now I think a much subtler effect could be used to draw your eye to an aircraft in a modern sim.

UltraMFCD - drag, resize and click display exports. Zero configuration.
DayGlow replied to Sgt_Baker's topic in DCS Modding
Crossfire right now is very limited depending on what driver version you run, but hopefully with the release of DCS 2.0 will see better scaling across the cards. Right now the windowed only setting is a non issue, but I'm keeping an eye to the future as well. -
The app updated on my iPad, but know it won't connect to the server saying it's the wrong version. I went to the website and downloaded the latest version of the server, and it still won't connect.

Does it have to be windowed? I'd lose my ability to crossfire my video cards. -

If I'm following what you are saying, does this mean I can run iControl and have the MFCDs and CDU work on my ipad without having to have an export for those displays on my monitor while flying? -
It was in the EA series starting with US Navy Fighters. Youtube from the last of the series Fighter Anthology

I rather have quality over quantity One of the best features of the new Edge engine is real time terrain lighting. To realistically create a world map you would have to use textures built off of satellite images that have the lighting already baked in. It would be a step backwards.

Awesome, that would be great. -

Quick question, is there a hot key to show/hide the displays? I'd like to keep them hidden until I need to use them. -
You don't know where your mouse is on your desk? When you reach from your HOTAS for the mouse you have to look down?
-
the screen door effect is the seeing the black grid around each pixel as you are so close to the screen.

Don't need to look at my mouse/stick right now :dunno: DCS level aircraft makes more sense for OR than say a FC level as with DCS airframes all the controls are in game. With a FC airframe you need the keyboard. What TIR has over other solutions so far is latency. Kinect isn't there yet.

I think this is a major consideration. Binocular vision would expand the visible HUD and your brain would fill in the blanks between the eyes. Your left eye would see what is obscured by the HUD frame for your right eye and the opposite. Your brain would then put it together and you would see beyond the HUD frame in a sense.

Labels aren't a cheat, but a crutch to help with the fact that a flat 2D monitor of limited Rez in no way matches real life

I like the middle setting, you need some haze as it's there in real life

A10C campaign: The Enemy Within
DayGlow replied to baltic_dragon's topic in User Created Missions General
enjoying the campaign, but the 3rd mission doesn't seem to complete. The CSAR comes in and lands, but no one ever moves to the helos and moves out. I decided to make some more passes to see if there were any more enemies, as there were no shots coming from the hill, but even after expending all my ordinance the CSAR never took off. I ended up quitting the mission and must have got enough points to move on. -
HawgsLIHV Fall Campaign for A-10C
DayGlow replied to shyjonathan1588's topic in User Created Missions General
Have the same issue, slows to less than 1 fps while trying to start up. Noticed when I hit the pause key it speeds right back up, but unpause the mission and it slows to a crawl. Don't know if that helps troubleshoot at all.
