Like BIGNEWY said, you probably didn't set SAM to Red Alarm mode in ME.
-
They made the decision to go with 4 HARMs. Let's just play with 2 at the moment.

Hey guys, ED labled this as "later in EA". I guess they just haven't got the time to put this in the patch. Maybe the next patch :)

[NOT A BUG] No NVG mounted pilot model + wrong FOV/View
SCPanda replied to FoxOne007's topic in Bugs and Problems
Also, please do not post picture from escape from tarkov in the ED forum. Honestly, that game is not that realistic as most people think. -
[NOT A BUG] No NVG mounted pilot model + wrong FOV/View
SCPanda replied to FoxOne007's topic in Bugs and Problems
You are totaly wrong about the FOV. Mono (such as a PVS-14) and dual NVG (such as a PVS-31) should give you both 40 degree FOV. Dual doesn't give you more FOV than mono because both tubes are pointing at the same direction as mono. The only type of NVG that gives you more FOV is Pano. Search "Garand Thumb NVG" on youtube. He explained this perfectly. (start from 4:00) -
Nope. Only tried Mav without TGP. Used Bore and Vis mode on AGM-65Ds
-
Mav and HARM are awesome and easy to use (although 4 HARMs cannot be loaded bc stations 4/6 doesn't give you the option to load AG missiles in the game at the moment) Nice increase in G-tolerance. ACM modes are finally working as they should and they are very consistent. Right now you don't have to press TMS up to lock a target with the ellipse. Just put the bandit in the ellipse and it auto locks for you! Boresight and vertical scan modes are also working now (auto locks the bandit). Thanks for the great patch ED. Nice to see some awesome work on the Viper!
-
Still very hard to hit 9 G (actually never did before I was nearly blacked out), the max I got without blacking out was 8.8. It seems they haven't fixed the ITR issue Hummingbird was talking about and testing. I noticed the increase in G-tolerance tho, now g-warm up isn't needed before the merge unless you are going super fast like 500 knots.
-
Yeah, I also do not think g-warmup is a valid solution (maybe a temporary one). Also it just feels strange to turn left and right before the merge while the other jet is coming at you nose hot (other jets seem to suffer less with this issue since jets like F-18, F-14, and Mirage aren't afraid of going slow, but the Viper does).

[OPINION, NO EVIDENCE] Wake Turbulence Too Strong?
SCPanda replied to Sordsman's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Similar experience as well. Wake turbulance feels really strong in the Viper (although I fly the Viper only and always with wake turbulence on, so I have limited knowledge about this issue on other jets). In the current state, I am scared of taking off and landing in the Viper when there is someone taking off or landing in front of me (it happens a lot in MP since most severs do not have a working ATC, or the airport is just way too busy). Formation flying is somewhat manageable as long as you are careful and do not fly in the wake of your wingman. -
Thanks for the great discussions tho. I enjoyed reading every post. :)
-
Well, ED has made their decision on this issue, and I trust their decision. We will get 4 HARMs. I suggest they close this thread because people are going off topic now.
-
Anyway, I am glad we will be able to carry 4 HARMs on the Viper. Thank you ED! For all the people who posted, thx for the great discussion! If you don't like this, please just carry 2 HARMs on staions 3/7 :)
-
Also, same for 6 Phoenix on the F-14. It is an unrealistic loadout but it is in the game.
-
Thanks for the reply BIGNEWY. I understand your point. But triple Mavs on LAU-88s are not realistic as well. Wags also asked if we could prove that 4 HARMs is possible in RL. If we are going by the manual, then all the taxiway takeoff and crazy things players do in DCS shouldn't be allowed as well.
-
Yep. From what I read on the internet, it seems the main reason that 4 HARMs is not a realistic loadout is the fuel problem. SEAD missions require ECM pods on the centerline, so if carrying 4 HARMs you cannot bring a external tank, plus the added drag and weight you will be very short on fuel. Also 4 HARMs also means you need to stay longer in the air so that's why 4 HARMs is not a realistic loadout. But I still stand for the argument that 4 HARMs is possible, and unlike LAU-88 with triple Mavs which may damage the airframe, I doubt HARMs on stations 4/6 does the same. I mean if you are only 50 miles from the enemy air defense, 4 HARMs sounds like a pretty viable loadout that will enable you to take out more SAMs in one sortie.
-
I understand the loadout of 4 HARMs on stations 3/7 and stations 4/6 is almost never used in RL, but HARMs on stations 4/6 is possible as these stations are fully weapons-capable. So why can't we have HARMs on stations 4/6 as well? I mean it's kinda like the argument of 10 Aim-120s on the Hornet. The loadout of 10 Aim-120s is almost never used in RL as well, but it is allowed in DCS (and almost every Hornet pilots carry this loadout in the game). What do you guys think?
-
Youtube videos are not really good references. What ED could do is do a professional sound capture in a Viper cockpit but I highly doubt this is possible.
-
Great point! Only real Viper pilots (Block 50 pilots) can tell us if the sound is realistic or not. And to make the sound as realistic as possible, you need someone who is a Viper pilot and a sound engineer at the same time I guess.
-
Could ED or someone please explain the correct behavior of the FCR when you have a locked target in AA/MRM mode and then switch to DGFT mode? I saw a post in bug reports but it was labeled as "intended" and unfortunately it is closed. From what I read, most ppl were saying the target should stay locked if you switch to DGFT mode. IDK if this is correct or not. So an explanation of how this should behave realistically would be great!

fixed [REPORTED]2.5.6.48283 F-16 Generator/Power issue
SCPanda replied to WingC3's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can confirm as well. In fact, this issue has been around since the release of the Viper. I guess it has not been reported before because most people do not park their hot jet on the ground for that long. I did for several times because same as you, I was waiting for my friend or doing something else. And if this happens, the only option is to respawn in a new jet because shutting it down and restarting it won't help. To ED: Honestly, the easiest way to recreate this is just simply parking the hot jet on the ground and wait for it to happen, and it will happen every time you do that. -
Thx for the updated testing Hummingbird. Hope ED will address this issue soon. For me, it's still very hard to hit 9Gs in the viper now. Most of the time I can only get to 8.8 Gs with ITR.
-
Just out of curiousity, can Mig-19 turn better than the Viper? I have never flown a Mig-19 in DCS but I heard it's a quite good turner.
-
Totally agree. Hope data cartridge will be added soon then we won't have to do that :D
