So the Viper should out rate the hornet? Hmmmm...
-
Yes it does...But Viper's FM is off and the jet is under performing. This is a FACT that ED has confirmed and they said they will tweak Viper's FM in 2021. Also, I didn't compare Viper's nose authority, AOA, and low speed maneuvering with the Hornet's. All I said was Viper's AOA is off when turning, and the STR and ITR is not as good as they should be. In the real world, the Viper is equal to the Hornet in terms of BFM. The outcome of the dogfight depends on which pilot can utilize the advantage of his/her jet. Additionally, according to C.W. Lemoine, who has flown both the Viper and the Hornet. Hornet's ability to pull high AOA sometimes might not be a good thing since if you pull too much and cash your energy but did get the kill, you are stuck in a low energy state. However, Viper can just ease the pull and recover its energy very fast due to its superior thrust to weight ratio

Just quit flying the Hornet (truck) and start flying the Viper (sports car) in BVR. LOL just kidding. Honestly, the Viper's FM is underpowered compare to the Hornet in terms of ITR and STR. The AOA is off during turning according to ED and other player's tests. So in BFM, Hornet can kick Viper's ass easily. Also, with DCS's current G-model, Viper pilots cannot utilize the jet's 9G turning ability and its advantage of having a inclined seat. Yes, the Viper is supposed to beat the Hornet in terms of speed and climbing. ED also marked this as "correct as-is" so I guess the Viper IS that good.

I guess right now we can only turn off the radar in DGFT mode by manually flipping the switch above the left MFD (sorry I forgot the name of that switch). Yes in that "other sim" TMS down seems to change the radar to standby, but I guess DCS Viper's ACM modes are still WIP so we will get that HOTAS function once it's implemented.

Sad thing is the F-16, the so called one of the best dogfighter with amazing turning capability (2 circle) cannot outturn anything in DCS in the current state. Reason? FM+G-model, and maybe other jets being overpowered... I seriously hope F-16 FM gets a rework, because I love the jet, but I hate taking it to a dogfight sever....
-
Yes, cold missions. I guess you are right, could be probe heat issue messing up FLCS, because IAS displays wrong when this happens. Even if you recover from this, IAS will still be incorrect which leads to this behavior happening again. BTW I turn on my probe heat every time I start my jet.

+1 Same problem, and the nose up and down behavior is extremely violent, it can gets to 30 degrees ish up and down for 2 or 3 times in just one second. So yeah this is clearly a bug. Also, your indicated air speed in the jet will become highly inaccurate after this takes place and it is impossible to recover. All you can do is to eject and choose a new jet, which is annoying... Seems like you have not experienced this issue, what you are saying sounds like this is a realistic issue but if you have seen this bug occurring, you will know this is totally a bug...

Yeah but initial scan always failing seems like a bug to me.
-
It kinda works but I always have to IFF several times to get a response (I know it was a friendly jet from F10 map but either TMS long or short doesn't give me back a friendly response the first time I interrogate. Usually the 2nd time works, which is strange.)
-
Wow, I didn't know that. This explains why I got my F-16 "drifting" during braking the other day. It only happened once but it was impossible to control the jet when the "drifting" happened.
-
I think it's because those people don't really know how easy the handling of the F-16 should be on the ground. They just assumed it's fine because they can takeoff and land the jet with no problem. I do can takeoff and land the viper in dcs at the moment fine, but I know it's not how the jet should feel like.
-
+1 I think viper's ground handling should be improved further. Like what Terzi's viper pilot friend told him, the jet should be much more stable. I am not a pilot, but from my experience of flying the viper in another f-16 simulator (cannot say the name due to forum rule), I agree that during aerobreaking you don't need really pull the stick to keep the nose up. Also, I agree the FLCS should help you keep your nose pointing straight without drifting left and right. F-16 should be a VERY easy jet to land. But, like ED said, they are focusing on the hornet for now, and everything on the viper is wip due to its ea state at the moment. When ED finishes the hornet, I do hope they could take a look at those stuff tho. I think those stuff are much more important than all the weapon systems and avionics, and should be their priority to work on.
-
I guess some ppl just want the high-tech stuff. Personally, I am fine without TGP. Also, CCIP is much more fun tbh.
-
Also, if you watch some of Wag's Viper videos (those Syria ones for example), you can notice that even Wag was struggling with NWS when he was taxi on the runway.
-
Same here, right now I am scared of touching the rudder with NWS on during takeoff (landing is fine? because I can use differential braking with my rudder pedal). With crosswind I just disengage NWS during takeoff, but according to the manual you do not disengage NWS until you have reached 70 knots... So definitely a issue that requires ED to take a look at. They said they will fix it but I have seen no improvement with NWS so far. Still VERY hard to use at the moment. I would rather have ED fix the NWS issue before they continue to work on weapon systems and other stuff.

Haha, "shoot him down" made my day

[PROPERLY ALIGN INS] Can't get datalink to work
SCPanda replied to Mohamengina's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
If you are playing MP then it could be a server/mission issue. On some servers datalink works fine, on some other servers the datalink simply do not work at all (sometimes it pops up then it disappears). -
[NO BUG] AIM120:countermeasure spoofing returned to the old value, Why??
SCPanda replied to wumas0201's topic in Weapon Bugs
IMO, I don't care which version of the game, people who are complaining about Aim-120 being overpowered just don't know how to defend a missile. Stop whining and git gud. -
[REPORTED EARLIER] F-16C NVG's are black and white?
SCPanda replied to Coyote_One's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1 I also wonder why -
LOL. Our Viper finally got some "trunk space" and we can carry beers with us now!

LOL. Your C-130 joke made my day
