  1. I was talking about the "new eninge planned for 21" thing which was in the GR interview at around 12:50 (looked that up just now) you just posted. Should have quoted the question.
  2. This has been marked [RESOLVED], but the Master Caution button still stays in with the keybind. Any chance to have that covered soon™?
  3. It was in the Future of DCS interview that GR did.
  4. I must be dreaming...
  5. Tried without the shader mod and clearing shader chaches to see if it was causing this (so 3dmigoto would be the only graphical mod), I can still see the labels through Jeff, A-10C2, F-16, F-18, F-14, Ka-50. Haven't bothered trying other assets...
  6. Just did some basic maths, when the max. slant range is 12nm, you can just designate from about 24kft at an angle of 20° or more. Think that's easy enough to remember since the 24k is also the max alt for having the LANTIRN active. Oh, well this board though, had to retype everything because it froze up on posting, followed by this: Error while saving content: %1$s error_information_x-1 Well, that is what you get when you buy Early Access, ED
  7. Fond memories of the long time that wasn't modelled yet. I hope that can be set up on the DTC though. And TBH, if that'd be a real thing, I'd highly appreciate a special option to disable the auto switching meanwhile.
  8. Turn away from the target, but make sure the target slant range is 8nm max upon impact. The laser does end there abruptly, just like a light saber in a well known scifi franchise. Or just shoot much earlier since you can do that from 17nm already with enough energy to back that up. And don't go too fast as the Mav will be subsonic most of its travel.
  9. I guess Simon Pearson would like to have a chat with you on that... it was him who said that the new engine, which is going to be utilizing Vulkan, multi threading and even RTX, is planned to be released into public testing somewhere in 2021. Of course that can be anywhere from 2022 - 2025 for the actual release into OB as there probably will be an OA for it first, but well. Let's just hope enough. DCS really does need that stuff, and Single Pass Stereo rendering badly. As for the most recent NL (no, not you, 9L): Can't wait for the SA symbology on that JHMCS in the Hornet... will I finally be able to "see" other planes with that? Very exciting! Also looking forward to the AZ/EL and GRID things there. And that has to compete with the F-14A...
  10. To be fair, 49798 ran great. Had over 50fps in my Quest (CV1 was locked to 45 though as I somehow can't manage to switch off that ASW hardlock in that one) in that when taking off from Senaki to the west. Since the patch after that I'm down to 30 in the CV1 and 24 in the Q. Just tried to fly on an MP server and got 9fps there (CV1 ofc)... well, that's DCS. It simply drops performance extremely hard with both AI things happening and MP in general. If you're CPU bottlenecked like me with a 3570, there it goes. The only options are flying alone in rather scarce missions with very little scripting or go pancake...
  11. BTW who decided to hang the thing on a 56k dialup? The old one always was ultra quick and responsive while this one does perform [REDACTED].
  12. Just do it. If you want something to give you a massive grin, then take the MiG-15 and fire that 37mm gun. You will love it.
  13. Thank you for your quick response and that fix
  14. The real downside is that it makes you hungry because it sounds like in a "Golden Seagull Restaurant" when everyone is waiting for their fries... I do have fond memories of a time within another sim where people used to place fuel trucks inside of mission critical buildings that both would go up decently when hit and actually add to the score / count for a mission winning condition. Don't even remotely know how that could be done in DCS, even with scripting you'd need to be able to address a specific building somehow. Even there's a possibility, it's probably an utter chore to realize...
  15. Thanks, didn't know that. Really need to spend some time with this bird finally
  16. MFG Crosswind
  17. Just had the same issue, is it really the altitude? Tried to designate at around 25k - 30k in order to stay outside of SA-8s with enough slant range.
  18. PC also works on FARP things, and apparently it will work without touching things: Knowing the HB system finally does work on a server however is great!
  19. Is it just me? Noticed it already early after EA release, but it's still there. First 50% of brake axis input do nothing. And the axis tune dialog does miss exactly that one slider which would be needed to fix that. It's only possibe when inverting the axis which would make the brakes fully applied with toe brakes not pressed. I'll throw a party if ED ever adds that one...
  20. Didn't get that yet, but kinda expected him knocking on the canopy. Awesome! So great they thought about that
  21. Kinda works, but usually the last post thing doesn't even remotely scroll down to the last post and the other's got the same problem missing its target constantly. That happens when you use scripts instead of anchor links... so basically I either click the last post one and scroll up or click on page one and then the last one, both cases are two steps. The numbers were much more direct.
  22. Any possibility to buddy lase? Just tried without TGP and couldn't even launch them.
  23. I don't think marketing is relevant at any point here. The real thing is that it's not just new clouds, but a new weather system with humidity, temperatures, pressure that affects visibility (through haze and fog) as well as thermal imagery on TGPs or missile seeker heads and it is something that's certainly needed as a base for the ATFLIR that's been said to come with a new IR system. And I'd expect they want to make sure that all that does at least work considerably well enough. Just showing fancy cloud layers probably would just ramp up the hype train, which wouldn't be the best thing to do with a rather uncertain ETA. Just reminding of the Viper Mavs here...
  24. I'd very much love to see a HB Tornado as well in DCS. But as this is a 111 thread, I'll give my 2¢ on that one, as it's probably the thing that comes closest to the Tornado IDS and as always, it has some pros and cons when compared. One big pro that I haven't seen mentioned is the massive fuel capacity. IIRC it's somewhere around 33-35k lb and with the same engines the F-14A has, which should be able to do zone 5 for somewhere around 10-11 minutes if I'm not completely mistaken - the 110s do guzzle a lot more on gate, the F-111 would be going to be the stay-in-afterburner king on top of all aircraft in DCS. With a deck speed of M 1.4 it will probably run away from anything with ease and IIRC at 2km it would do 1.7 already and 2.0 at 4km. This is insane - and will get you out of trouble at a much higher chance than anything else. Especially with the rather limited maps in DCS, the fuel amount will cause the thing to be driven fast, giving it an edge where other planes might end up in massive trouble. I guess it's known that the plane was rated for M 2.5+ at altitude, but was able to reach M 3.0 easily, risking the engines though, as in kiss them goodbye after the sortie. Also important is the fact that it can deliver ordnance with a totally clean airframe within its bomb bay. The Tornado is a drag hell already even without any stores that you'd drop on your enemy - well, usually as you might get the impression those tanks and CMS/ELINT pods are bolted to them for eternity. When taking the Pave Tack TGP, it's loaded into the bomb bay as a retractable thing so you can at least clean the thing up after dropping your 10Es - how cool is that? Or, if I'm not completely mistaken, you can put a Vulcan gunpod with over 2k rounds in there. Now don't get me wrong, but I don't get why people want to get the A-6, literally based on a novel / movie. That thing is slow, it can't turn, it can't climb, it can't shoot, it can't fox 2, so basically it has even less capabilities to fend off an aerial thread than the F-117 which at least is able to hide with its low radar and IR signature. As cool as that plane might be, it's gonna be shot down a lot in DCS, even more than A-10s and Su-25s. And everything it did and made her famous, the F-111 can do better, except from being operated from a carrier, which is just the Navy's fault for not taking the thing even as a strike aircraft back then as it initially was built to be carrier capable even. And we do get the A-7E which can almost carry as much as the A-6E would, having more options on top of that while being more capable in defending against other planes. Just my honest opinion on the Intruder...
  25. Still waiting for the LANTIRN, but agree on everything that's been said so far. One thing that annoys me jsut a bit though: I used to do the same that's been done with the LANTIRN, as in take over the control lines so we can use it anyway with some commands like setting the radar range and mode. At the moment the range change commands had been added to the wheel menu, all that stopped working and I can't make Jester switch the TID to the mode where ownship is centered when switching (that was great to have a general overview when doing A/G when you just switch over to it above the target area as it provides for a top down view of your surroundings, given there's datalinked AWACS available that covers the region so you know when something tries to jump you early enough and from where it does that), and changing the ranges (or anything, actually), simply takes a bit too long. Some small things like switching from 50nm to 100nm should happen almost instantly.
