Well, you do need brute force to move that thing to begin with. When handling that with a tight grasp and having to go to the center, it literally sucks down the stick like a black hole and you need to switch over that brute force you needed to have it away from the center by 180° precisely and well-timed or otherwise you simply end up fouling up what you try to do there really hard. Never liked Saiteks for the same reason, but the springs were a lot weaker on those though. And the red button on the left throttle is a perfect tool for training the pinkie for some guitar action. It's utterly hard to budge, so I usually end up using another finger for that anyway. I don't have a Virpil base, but since they use CAMs, I presume it's pretty much like Crosswinds, so you need very little force around the center, but progressively more the farther out you move the thing from the center. And that's literally the same with FFB. Probably would end up using the WH if I had a WarBRD base and some extensions, at least for the modules that don't have vital FFB functions such as helos, warbirds or early jets. But the TM base is definately a no go, at least for me As soon as there's an FFB base that works with the WH stick, I'll be heading for that one... too bad Brunner is way too expensive and doesn't understand DirectInput FFB on top of that. I'd happily save up and pay like 500-600 for such a thing and that is lots already. Fun thing though, when I tried the A-10C with the WH stick, I kinda got into the switchology pretty quickly and it was great. But well, I totally couldn't aim the gun or land smoothly anymore

Me too

You can't imagine how that feels without having a stick with a gazillion of hats... it's almost like playing barrés off the 12th fret in quick succession. Well, I do have that stick, but it's collecting dust in the cupboard since it doesn't come with FFB and the gimbal sucks balls (dat pun tho), precise flying is totally impossible with a stock TMWH, at least when it comes to inputs around the center.
-
I just flew it a few days ago and it does slip tons without rudders, especially on onset. You literally can aim your gun with counter-aileron instead of stepping onto the pedals. It's almost as flying a Horten in another old product that shall not be named.

The FAQ reads: Wouldn't it be so much wiser to rename the old A-10C to A-10C Suite 3 and the new one to A-10C Suite whatever? While writing that, what exact Suite is the new one anyway?

You really shouldn't go out there and play for such massively overpriced things that you could make at home for probably half a buck. Especially during pandemics Just buy 4-8 and make a giveaway, that way you could beat two flies with a single clap. C'mon. I'm not going to remap that. And yes, I removed the mapping because back then I was accidently hitting it far too often when I tried to hit RAlt + Home instead. By the way, while we're at it: Will we finally get 2/3-way switch mappings for the Hog so we can actually use the idle detent of the TMWH to do that? I know there's the premade default mapping for that, but I do use a profile and don't want to constantly switch it, so I'd very much appreciate to be able to map it myself. I mean, it works in the Hornet and Viper right off the bat, but I have to map 2 things in the Hog... Well the last time I was "employed" (or shall I rather say "assigned", since noone is willing to employ me by themselves due to my health deterioration?), I had to work for 10 owas to get that in realtively rich Germany, which totally sucks. Can't blame ED for that either, but since that's long gone in the past and life is hard, I'll have to cry in empty wallet But thankfully there's an easy solution for me at least for now. Shaddap an' take mah marles! I take it that the nasty beeper that goes off at literally every step on shutdown and at some on startup finally is gone with the update? Praised be the Royal Sisters! That thing was and still is so annoying! I really hope though that the top speed will be looked at, so it'd be either drag or thrust. Habu and others have pointed out the thing's being too slow often enough. Last time I tried a few days ago I was able to reach somewhere between 350 and 355 kts on the deck with a clean airframe and just around 800lb of fuel left. I read 381 and similar numbers literally everywhere though. That'd be 7.3% - 8.6% more... But I'm totally looking forward to the changes!

Glad to see the P-47 additions there. Was kinda expecting some A-10C II news though, as the end of the month keeps getting closer. But I guess, someone's working in the lab Edit: This clearly should have been mentioned in the newsletter.

[REPORTED]Vaziani no longer has runway markings?
Eldur replied to AstonMartinDBS's topic in Object Bugs
Seen this a few times now at Senaki, Kobuleti, Kutaissi and other bases, all on Caucasus only, within the last few months. First time was when I successfully installed the shader mod (kegetys full version) for the first time, but only after the second boot, first was all fine. A few weeks later I had this on a completely unmodded install when doing the last chance after patching and again, yesterday I was seeing this with a few mods (graphics related: Mustang anti-fog shadermod and 3dmigoto for label masking) where I had no problems at all without any changes made prior to that. dcs-20-09-15.zip -
TBH I kinda like the idea of having what if assets if we can't get the real ones for given reasons. Having memories of that S-37 Delta thing called Su-37 Flounder-A back in the day of the Brent Iverson sims, when EA actually released good stuff.
-
Exactly, that was the last one
-
Well, the original Quest is discontinued as well. I mean, those will still work just fine in the future I guess, just like the CV1 still does.

I watched that keynote in Venues, but for those who haven't, here's a livesteam recording from Mike: And a short review since he's been using the thing already for some weeks:

Modules that are fully Compatible with Touch Controls?
Eldur replied to StevanJ's topic in Virtual Reality
I think it's mostly the ED modules. Haven't tried it much, but it definately worked in the F-16, F/A-18 and Ka-50 when I tried. -
Wanted to post this way earlier and still had it in the pipeline, so why now do it anyway? Reactions to more recent stuff appending. All that at 8 in the morning Thanks for trying that out. I went right with the mod. As long as it works, we can at least get around it. *cries in VR* Finally! Ah, I see, cat orgies That was about time, those were of the most important fixes to the Viper ever Great addition, and I'm having fun with it, even though it's still hard to be good at Finally, been waiting for those for a while Can't say this often enough: Even though I haven't spent time on that module yet except for watching it in videos, I am impressed by the output of those devs I guess their Mirage F1 will end up being an awesome module once we'll have it Great to see the RU missiles being worked on as well, finally. People have been going mad over this and I was kinda tired of telling them they'd do the US ones first because of them being the flagship modules Fun thing about the MiG-25 missile in air thing is that I just saw a picture of a Flanker with the exact same issue a few days before this patch went out, but IIRC that was the ECM pod instead of an R-73. Nice to see the Mach transition on the gauges in more modules, small details like this make DCS actually feel like real Guess I'll have to try what that tail wheel thing means And finally, we have the GDR for some cold war action in there as well Actually that's been there like forever... My DCS doesn't even remotely fit on that as it's already 257GB... And probably my advice comes too late already, but I'll drop it anyway. Use an image recovery tool (Acronis True Image, linux dd command or maybe even Windows can do that already, never used that) to clone your SSD over to a new, bigger one. That way you'll have everything up and running with more space to go with, without having to reinstall everything. And it probably takes like 20-30 minutes to do that. On top of that, you have a back up with the old drive, unless you clear it and use it for anything else. Other option would be to just add the new one as a second drive and simply move your DCS installation over there with Windows Explorer. It will keep running. You just made me want those JSOW B again Actually I was under the impression as well as it's such a standard asset, but well. I was wrong. How could DCS even exist without that thing for so long? Was eager to get the update tomorrow, but well. Things happen. Might increase the chance though to get the A-10C II next week as well

... even after the recent events. Didn't know that:
-
Looking forward to the update. Keep on cracking, this is one of the most awaited modules for me
-
Well, I didn't "use" Marshmallow and The Background Pony either... I guess, Pinkie would be appropriate when we can celebrate some major additions to the Harrier And since her party cannon, you know, that thing the A-10 is built around, is in maintenance at the moment... That's what I'm looking forward to.

Could be mine as well, but yet... Here lies the culprit. Even though it's impossible to see the tanker lights when doing the F-16 in the CV1, trying to AAR all the others is extremely hard with the lack of or heavily deteriorated peripheral vision, especially with the probe on the side. I can confirm this statement and throw in the fact that the eyes are the most vital hardware here. If yours suck, your AAR will suck equally well. And as much as I love my good old FFB2, it would probably be easier with any other stick around today that has 16 times the resolution of mine. Even when just pinching the grip head with just two fingers and maybe even with a custom modded extension in there, 1024 positions just won't cut it when you can have 16384 with a stock TMWH or even a 50 bucks T16kM. But then again, their gimbals and springs suck and probably a WarBRD base or similar is the way to go, but that lacks FFB as well. Shame on Brunner for their price tag (which is well above my non-existent paycheck) and lack of DCS support. And VR does make a whole lot of difference. Was literally unable to get more than 500lb in one piece without, but immediately could get 7klb without disco in the Hornet when I first tried it with the Rift. But I still totally suck when I try this with the Harrier or Tomcat... Hey, that's Celestia's instructions on how to eat cake Not really. It's rather that you'd need twice the hardware power to run half the fps though. So either you're running a 9900k and 2080ti anyway or end up flying at least completely without shadows...

I also took notes from the interview, feel free to add / merge them or just leave this post in here as well.

Airspeed is indicated and will increase when diving. Check the Mach number which should stay the same.
-
Wow, didn't know about the HARM coming as well. Just seen Wags' video. Have to listen to that interview still.

First of all, thank you, Ron, for taking a statement to the current situation, very much appreciated That's a very much true point there and literally the essence here. Room for speculation was left and it went haywire, sadly Maybe something to consider, for both RAZBAM and ED, since the latter to have a contract with Boeing, quoting Wags here, "not just for the Hornet": Reach out with ED's help to get the most you could possibly get to support your work on the module. Same goes for the F-15E. You might already have done that in some way, but it's never wrong to keep trying, and please, do it with ED at your side. Wags is a world class master at doing this, go ahead and take that for our all advantage! Same here. And to be honest: I do want to see those monthly update videos again. With those, posted here, you'll keep your comms on track just fine. I think it was a great format for you guys to explain us your progress, while showing some new 3d things in the background. That was very much appreciated! Actually, I had to do that within my apprenticeship, for every single day. Admittedly, I was rather bad at this, but I constantly had to work significant overtime and they simply didn't let me write the stuff up at work, so I ended up having to do that at home, which sucked. But nevertheless, it's regulated by laws here that these logs shall be written. Not a bad practice I'd say in retrospect I can pretty much agree here as the ARBS/DMT literally is the heart of this Harrier variant. That's the thing that should definately be modelled as accurate as possible. Period. That would have been a very important step, yes. But well, I'll say something on that further down... I get the thing with "nobody:", but to be fair, it probably was a mandatory step to go with to pave the way for any further development, that also being the F-15E and the AV-8B+ as very much possibly the ED radar tech heavily depends on that, as well as other nice things that could be used from the API, which eventually will save RAZBAM a ton of work in long terms. As stated above, I totally agree with the ARBS/DMT as well as CCIP/AUTO and toss modes things. All that is the basics of this very Harrier model and should be in the sim appropriately I guess herein lies the problem, combined with the lack of comms thereabout. They made a promise not to release new modules into EA without having taken out the existing ones of just that, and probably they simply wanted to meet that promise. The way they did could have been better though, as most users expected "out of EA" being feature complete and since it at the same time means something like "being released", it clearly gets understood as "out of beta" and not just "out of alpha" which it technically isn't even since there's still features to be added. It's a terminology issue we have here and more clarity would have been profound, especially since the terms used here by ED and the 3rd parties are not what's commonly understood So basically, it went from "Early Access" to "Product Sustainment" which literally still doesn't mean it's complete at all as it's bein worked on furtherly One has to say, this guy does have a point here. RAZBAM should go and take the first step to unban people that have been excluded from their channels in anger since probably many of them didn't deserve that to happen. Combined with a sincere apology. Both parties have done their bad, but it would certainly be the right way for RAZBAM to go ahead and initiate boiling things down. Having people banned doesn't help anyone unless those acted utterly childish without being reasonable at all. Friendship lessons have to be learnt even by adults to say the least Hey, you just reminded me how working in the free capitalist market actually looks like I'm rather glad to be out of that due to health things, but I'd still love to be able to afford things more... That would have been a pretty well written example of how to put a statement appropriately to the situtation given, but sadly, noone ever does that in a company within the free market as being honest and admitting having done something wrong is a 100% guarantee to get you booted from either your job or the market itself. Sad, but true The art is to read that in between the lines, let's be positive about the statement and look into a bright future anyway

I watched this a few minutes ago: I'm amazed. But I do wonder still how the IPD will be adjusted as the original slider is gone, but it has something that seemingly can be switched to 2 positions inside between the lenses as per the first leaks. And I don't know if it's going to be LCD or OLED at the moment, might have missed some info here though. It's definately going to be an exciting thing in the ring anyway. I guess the USB interface will allow for at least 10GBit/s or hopefully even 20, so the link will be awesome as well. Now the question is, how much bandwidth will there be on WiFi? Will definately need more than just 866MBit/s to stay up with the old Quest without losing quality due to compression.
