The real question is, which comes first? a) Vulkan (multi-threading, RTX and stuff) to DCS b) A DCS: Tornado module c) Actual end of the pandemic d) Affordable, reasonably priced, unscalped GPUs e) Half-Life 3 f) Der Heiland Well, I think the answer is: Yes! Disclaimer: Good things take time in the oven. We'll know in time and as always, everything subject to change. It's OK the way it is and DCS has made good progress especially in the past few years. Actually, we got adjusted engine spool times for the 404s in the 18 a patch ago and I totally missed that on the notes while trying to read them. So tiny, so great! No more "404: Spool time not found" memes down in the groove

I don't want to go into politics here, but the new iPhone 13 is a bad joke. The new iPad mini is more versatile, more powerful, has USB-C and costs way less. Why, Apple?

Sorry, had to try that on my first flight, and it didn't wipe when turning the knob on the RH side of the cockpit. Guess this is still WIP. But we all know how important it is, not just in Mil helos...

Does work for me, G2 and FFB2 (force center is shifting).
-
Just push the throttle and you'll get one

Reminds me of hanging 4 FAB-1500s on the Black Shark back in the day. Was only barely able to get off the ground with a rolling takeoff, somewhere around 170-180 kph. Felt like flying the Bleriot across the Channel. Never dared to do such things online though, because it would suck to be on the other side of things happening.

Payload/Refuel Wizard doesn't work on Runway/Ramp
Eldur replied to Tempest's topic in Bugs and Problems
Can't rearm either... Right click menus on idividual stations are completely empty (categories are there though, but nothing pops up on hover), but I can select the complete loadout on the right side, nevertheless when clicking OK my pilot gives the order, but nothing happens. Tested in Caucasus Cold & Dark quick start mission. -
I bought this module when it was released, somehow never tried it and just jumped into the Caucasus Cold & Dark quickstart, only to have this blasted at myself all hte time while standing still on the ground. Best first experience ever... definately needs a fix. I'll put a short and completely silent .wav file in there for the time being though.

Great to see it implemented on day one, but sadly it still has the same issues it always had. Two things really need to be addressed yesterday: 1. FFB trim should shift the axis curve accordingly, so the "precision zone" (on a + curve) always is centered around the force trim center and morphs accordingly. This would help steering precisely a lot the farther away from center trim we are. This is something especially important for the Mossie which has to be trimmed nose heavy a lot. Other planes like the Flankers would also benefit from this, and especially helos also 2. It's great that DCS models the increase of stick force, but TBH it's not great how it does and this affects all warbirds and basically also the Yak-52, but less obviously due to its speed range. The stick is limp at up to ~100kph, gets to full force at around ~200kph and no changes past that at all. So basically you'll have a limp stick on the ground and a 100% stiff one while flying, except for during take offs, landings and hammerheads and similar manoeuvres... Forces should build up gradually from "Zero to Hero", so you'll even feel a difference between like 250 and 300mph.. Where the upper end of that scale should be, depends on the plane. The 109 stiffens up early while the 190 ot 51 stay well-controllable, the Mossie probably somewhere in between. I mean, we do have stick force limits already (as mentioned in the Mossie EA FAQ - "The Mosquito has very large control forces on the pitch axis due to airflow, and you will have reduced control column movement as speed increases."), so you guys could scale the FFB accordingly. Also, force on the elevators should build up by thrust. This would bring much more immersion and helps utilizing muscle memory to actually feel the plane's speed. Also, nothing to neglect, having a much better FFB implementation in such a great sim might finally convince some manufacturers to produce new FFB units. Still dreaming of a good and affordable FFB base for the most common stick grips out there...

TBH I'd kill a mosquito (pun intended) to get that button. The annoying thing is that it literally starts at the cruise setting of 2650/+7, so basically at a rather high power setting that's very far from landing configuration. You basically can't fly at slower speeds without having your ears blasted at by the horn.

The thing that bugs me most is that both those switches come back to safety without interaction. But I guess they have a spring IRL that does that. In that case, I'd rather have them as "hold" keys, but also a separate, compact "does all" mapping for the ones who don't like to fiddle around with safety things separately.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Eldur replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
We finally have a FAQ... best part of it: You guys literally could have written "By the time you're able to read this, the pre-sale is over since we've just release the module into early access" -
Cries in Helmut Kohl's prehistoric copper lines... (we're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in fibreoptic...) always a good idea to start downloading before going to sleep, just hoping that nothing interrupts the process, like a drive that's too full already with like 120 Gigs still free of space (BTDT)

Blasting in full Stereo!

Ever since the new general canopy reflections are in DCS, I'm having trouble seeing out front of my Viggen cockpit, as if most of the lower portion of the glass was tinted dark grayish, probably reflecting stuff from below. Makes it really hard to fly low, especially in those "looks beautiful" lighting conditions...

One last wish prior to the end of early access.
Eldur replied to Avimimus's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
You didn't dream, I remember that as well. There even was a video that shows how to do it by somehow unlatching the levers from each other, which isn't exactly easy, but doable.Within that discussion, Cobra jumped in and said they might consider modeling it, but unsure if they'll ever actually do, due to priorities. But he clearly stated that they have been pointed at an error in the module which they'd definately gonna fix. That error being the flaps coming up directly together with the gear whereas IRL the gear would come up first, followed by the flaps afterwards. That post was somewhere in 2017, and the bahaviour still hasn't changed yet. Any chance we'll see that soon™, @Cobra847? -
I heard one way to deal with motion sickness is to kick ass and chew bubble gum... never had the issue myself, but I'd say it's worth a try

I wonder if that implies an initially planned release this week. On the Steam page the countdown was still running this morning, but now it doesn't even have a date at all. However, since we don't even have a FAQ yet in the mini updates & FAQ thread and we haven't got a "go get it 30% off, until it's too late" hint, my guess is we'll have to wait a bit longer anyway.

Dear ED, Enough Already. Release the Damn Plane!
Eldur replied to MGM's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
We don't even have a FAQ in that "Mosquito Mini-Update & FAQ" thread... already asking for a module release? -
That literally 1ups the new damage model

@NineLine Just throwing this in here, because it's most likely related and the closest that the search brought up fitting my issue. Just had a go with the K-4 after a long while not flying WWII in DCS and immediately noticed something weird. I have my planes set up with 20% fuel load and usually refuel during the cold and dark startup. When I let the ground crew refuel the K-4, it does so, and it's audible as in any other plane. Then the refuel sound stops and re-starts again after a second or so - and will never stop as long as the wheels are on ground (I've stopped the track without taxiing because I couldn't have the crew crank my flywheel as it was still stuck refueling dev/null) and it will start again on landing even after a flight. My "guesstimate" conclusion is that it is the MW-50 tank causing the issue because I ran out of MW-50 in the subsequent flight (started the engine before letting them refuel), noticable by engine tremor happening at close to 1.8ata with MW-50 on after a few minutes (=overboosting since there's no MW-50 flowing anymore), which could be because of the initial 20% fuel load which probably is also applied to the MW-50 tank. And the second refuel process that starts immediately after the first probably is for the MW-50 tank as well, but it doesn't refuel it, it never gets full and therefor the refueling process never ends. 109K-4 refuel issue track Hope that will help squashing that bug finally

Totally nailed it. And it's called character.

Always loved that 5 bladed prop on the XIV... Now that I've got some cash in, I just dumped a portion of it at the ED store to preorder the Mossie

Loving the new Mossie Monday Series. Well done.

Totally reminds me of Thrill's Tuesday Newsday. Well, he actually nailed it this week, but usually you know it'e either When'sday or Fursday when he uploads another episode...
