MAC could suddenly become an interesting product with this...

reported Trim with slip indicator always nose left?
Eldur replied to MstrCmdr's topic in Bugs and Problems
Shouldn't the ball show that though? (And yes, wind irrelevant. In Wags' video the 64 always pulls to the right, regardless of his heading and that's what I see on my end as well with other helos, except, of course, for the ones that pull to the left. I mean even the tail rotor induced drift (or in the more complex case of coaxial rotors at speed), which basically is sideslipping, should be indicated on the ball and the fact that it isn't is what makes me wonder. -
I guess My Little Secret is neither that little nor that secret...

Thanks for posting that. I had the faint memory of this being initially announced for the end of 2018, well it even was before that Totally agree. I like the approch of making it easier to step into the world of DCS by adding MAC as an "entry drug" with WT-esque controls, but also VR controller only controls if possible, just to generate interest for the full stuff. But I as someone who has all the modules (and tries to keep it like that in the future) wouldn't see any reason to buy it except for supporting ED. With some assets that DCS won't get in a while this would change. I wouldn't mind having FC3 grade modern things that still are too classified for DCS grade or even some what if stuff (thinking F-23, Arrow, TSR2, Cheyenne and similar).

Well it should not significantly move left or right in a turn, unless it's heavily uncoordinated. I mean you can have a drink on an airliner and it won't spill when it banks either. But I hope the things slide back when pulling the nose up enough, and ideally we should be able to boop them with VR hands, just like we can stop the fan in the Hind.

I really want to see the restaurant in which you only have to wait for 45 minutes... and I'm not talking the ones like The Golden Gull - even those constatly fail to meet their proclaimed times (10+ minutes is absolutely common). In the end, expecting a piece of software to drop at the initially announced date is like going to see a doctor with an appointment at 0930 and expecting to actually see him at 1200 or even earlier. That simply isn't the way it works. Anyways, currently I'm rather confident that ED will meet the Q1 goal, based on the closed beta running already and the video output. March 23 would be great.

The thing I don't understand (and it affects all helos, including the Ka-50 at higher speeds) is that the ball indicates no sideslip while the thing still does sideslip. Why is that? -
Made my day! My take on that one: Kid: "Mom, why can't we have Vulcan yet?" Mom: "But we do have Vulcan at home!" Vulcan at home: As for the multi-threading, it highly depends on the load and how it can be distributed. On my old 3570k rig I was able to fly with 45 fps in VR with the CV1 at rather high-ish settings (almost the same I do run now, actually!), but if I dared to join any of those heavily scripted multiplayer servers or run a mission like Through the Inferno on my rig (or even do that on a second one and join the empty local server!), I was looking at single digit framerates even in pancake with the graphics completely lowered to the floor. I could imagine that a decent multi-threading engine could prevent exactly that from happening. One core does the visual stuff, the next one the audio, the third one takes the FM routines, another one the AI stuff, again another one runs the radar and other avionics simulations etc and there you'll have a boost as soon as your single core wouldn't be powerful enough anymore to run all of that at the same time. So my guess is that anyone with a totally cranked Alder Lake would not see as much of an improvement as someone with an lower tier Older Lake or even just a Bridge would

DISCLAIMER for the moderator team: I can't edit my posts on this board anymore, as soon as I click the text editor, my Firefox crashes instantly. That's why I double post now, would rather have merged it with the previous post myself. Feel free to do that edit for me if it makes the thread cleaner. Totally nailed it and that's what happens in DCS, the only exceptions being the planes with DFCS, most prominent being the Hornet and Viper. That given, you can actually muscle-memory the thing which is impossible with non-FFB sticks as the stick's attitude depends on trim (unless you don't trim...) there whereas the FFB stick just shifts the force center. As far as I have heard in various discussions, the original FFB patents of Immersion Corp expired in 2018. So that's maybe (I mean, I could be wrong) not an issue anymore. But even if - I guess the customers would pay the extra fee generated by patent licensing as this is probably the most common thing in tech industry anyway.

What actually happens: During refuel, that S-3 violently pulls up with the crew ejecting, out of nowhere. I hope they'll get some AI cycles to be able to recognize when they should stop giving away fuel they need themselves to get back to the boat

Having issues with that as well. But well, it was better a while before, I just don't know when the change occured. It was possible to dim the map a lot with the GAIN rocker, but as of recently it only dims it so far that the display basically is illegible at daytime and completely blinding me at night even when I turn the brightness knob down so that the display almost shuts itself off. In other words, back to "I'll just switch the map off completely in startup procedure". EDIT: The DDIs though are fine (and the AMPCD with map off as well), I even was able to read them with just the CV1.

I'm glad to finally see that work on the S-3B overhaul has started. This has been planned since 2018 and the improved physics were mentioned at the same time. I guess it will come when it comes. As for VKB, Virpil, Winwing etc. To be brutally honest: I couldn't care less until at least one of them finally gets themselves out of the comfort zone and bring FFB-capable stuff. I'd buy instantly, if my wallet allows for. And I guarantee, I won't be the only one. The community would instantly take their whole stock in a minute, probably. Why so shy?

That is so likely, I just wanted to try adding that line, just to find this (only unencrypted one is Caucasus): Meh. It's probably one of those "just takes half a minute and not even a professional to fix this" issues that are just collecting dust in the low-to-no priority section of the project management as it's usual with basically every company on the planet (=not blaming ED or UM here, I have yet to see a company not do this as it's just common to work on low priority non-deal breaking issues last). I might be wrong though... anyways, such a bummer! Often, some of those minor issues fixed can make a massive difference in user experience.

I noticed that they worked for UI Layer (even in cockpit) bindings when introduced, but not again since the patch after that. But I also observed, with my G2, that they suddenly start working after the controllers disconnect and I re-enable them, something you can't do with other systems probably, unless you're maybe taking out the batteries. Haven't exactly tried connecting the controllers after starting DCS yet though. May have done that by accident in the past though...

The question is wrong. It should be: How many tankers did you shoot down in anger because of "Return Pre-Contact"?
-
Am I dreaming? Is it finally possible to deliver more than 30 shots after well over a decade by simply getting the thing repaired instead of having to respawn completely?

Honestly, out of that list, plus the ones you missed, I expect those to drop in '22 actually: AH-64D (w/o FCR, that's gonna take them a good while) F-15E South Atlantic MB-339 BS3 (need to play Tetris on the SYST page enroute) Mirage F.1 FLIR The ones that might have a chance to drop: OH-58D F4U-1D Dynamic Weather (same as Apache FCR, that's quite complex and a lot of work to to) Dynamic Campaign Beta I absolutely don't expect the new engine, I'd rather be positively surprised at some point. I guess the F-4E will end up being announced for Q4 at some point, ending up in Q5 (aka Q1 of 2023) eventually, similar to the Apache or that "The Winter is in the claw of the cat" thing back in the day. That's a steal... you could easily take 100€ (about twice as much) for one around here. But definately worth it. Flying a helo without is like not having a trim hat for airplanes, unless you'd be talking things like the 109 or MiG-15 that have other types of control for that.

Have you tried AirLink instead just to see if it's maybe related to the cable Link? Also, get Oculus Tray Tool and play around with the bitrate and encoding resolution setting there. I've seen an issue with that on my Quest 1 before, AirLink was a Powerpoint until I set the bitrate down to 0.

I'd love to see this. Would be a great module for some VR introduction rides if you have two rigs capable of running DCS in VR.

Ever since the Tomcat dropped, I had three wishful things in mind to be the next HB module. Those were the Tornado, the F-111 and a collab with ED on that Phantom because of what you guys have done before, especially the multi-crew feature with Jester. I have been laughed at every time I mentioned that possible HB + ED collab as something that would be cool for the Phantom. Now I do laugh at those who kept saying it'd never gonna happen that way As if I knew it all the time... Now HB has gotten about 20% cooler!

Source? I haven't followed the forums as closely during the last months as I used to, but this is the first time I "hear" that. I have that theory for quite some time now as well, but I never nailed it down to just the F-4, always had the F-111 and Tornado in mind as well. Though the Phantom is the most likely for now.

Will DCS support the network location (network folder)?
Eldur replied to scommander2's topic in DCS 2.9
Check this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4339220/is-there-a-way-to-map-a-unc-path-to-a-local-folder-on-windows-2003 Just point it at your Saved Games\DCS(.openbeta) folder and create it where that folder should be on the rig that shall fetch it from the other. Your Windows User needs access privileges to that share, of course. -
So the soldiers aren't Imperial Storm Troopers anymore?

Talking about expectations: There's only one thing I expect: That thoroughly deep voice of Nick Grey.

They're tradition for years, maybe even a decade or more by now
