Friday April 25, 2014 Development Update – Taking Flight
Phantom453 replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
..and then some. Find out things about VEAO here - there you go. Go to their thread and find out pretty much everything about what is going on in their space. Hawk delayed but waiting for the lawyer to sort out the legal/ IP stuff with BAE.. Slightly disappointing, but at least we know. Current & future developments discussed. Ask a question - get a quick, helpful and honest answer within the limits of their NDA. Much the same with Leatherneck. Thing is, I haven't given either of those two developers damn cent...... Its just the way they roll. -
That feeling could just be a full bladder :) ... but like almost everyone here, I can't wait for the release of this one. No prior particular interest in the Russian aircraft really, but the attention to detail and love that seems to have gone into this module (from the screenshots and videos) is just amazing (needs a better word than that too). I'm not an original backer either, but the way these guys are going about looking after the original backers deserves respect. I'm more than happy to back this team on that point alone and look forward to many more aircraft from the Leatherneck team. Outstanding effort guys.

Friday April 25, 2014 Development Update – Taking Flight
Phantom453 replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Indeed ED are working in concert/ partnership with RRG, which is why I'm surprised that they haven't prompted RRG to keep their customers updated as promised, or indeed said something themselves. At the time (23/4/2014) it also came as something of a surprise to me (a pleasant one I might add) when it was announced that VEAO was doing the DCS Warbirds Collection (including future WWII maps). One because they seemed to have plenty on their plate already concentrating on more modern aircraft, and two, because RRG was already working on the whole DCS WWII stuff. And now we haven't heard anything from RRG since 25/4/2014. Could be purely coincidence and I'm not intending to fan the conspiracy flames, but in the information void we have right now, one can't help but wonder what has changed or gone wrong? Perhaps this IS ED coming to the rescue again? I just wish we knew. -

Unfortunately, given the length of time since we have heard anything from anyone, this would seem quite a valid argument to me. And as cichlidfan pointed out, its not as if Ilya hasn't been around to post something to clear the air. -
Thanks Devrim, was stuck on that one too.

Nice video. Love the shine on the metal skin.

Just came here wondering the same. Nothing in my e-mail the last few weeks? -
[DCSW: Mi-8MTV2] English Cockpit Mod
Phantom453 replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Once again Devrim, thanks for your great work. All good, including the back cockpit merged with the English version. The only thing I noticed was the new little box (introduced in 1.2.8 ) with a single toggle switch which sits on the top left of the co-pilots instrument panel is still in Russian. I'm not sure what the box/ switch is for as it seems to be inoperative at this stage. -
[DCSW: Mi-8MTV2] Black Cockpit Mod
Phantom453 replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks Devrim - have really been looking forward to you releasing a 1.2.8 version of your English and Black Mi-8 cockpit mods. They are just great!! Really appreciate your fine work. -
I'm hoping I'll have a Mig-21 and Hawk icon (without the dollar sign) on mine real soon.

1.2.8 OpenBeta is out!! Let's enjoy
Phantom453 replied to uboats's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
^I wish ........ 2.6 GB @ ~180 KB/S at the moment. -
I just updated the open beta first, which was ~250 MB I just started updating the release version to 1.2.8 and the D/L is ~2.6 GB. I would have thought that the appropriate files would have been copied from the open beta to the release, and then any outstanding files would be downloaded. I'm just surprised it is as large as ~2.6 GB worth. An observation, not a complaint.

Thanks Cbit. That was it. Mi-8 now starts with the switch in the FM position in 1.2.8. (note to self - more attention to detail!):music_whistling:

Having similar problems as well. Comes up with the R-862 on the radio menu, but no answer from ATC. Turning the squelch on and off seems to indicate the radio is working.

Cold Start training gets stuck in 1.2.8 Open Beta
Phantom453 replied to Airway's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same problem when doing normal start sequence. How do we get the pitch/ roll autopilot channel to engage now? Not sure about other autopilot channels at this stage. -
[DCSW: Mi-8MTV2] English Cockpit Mod
Phantom453 replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
That would be great if you could do a quick update for both the English and black cockpit mods please Devrim. I have tried the combined English / black mod with 1.2.8 and there are quite a few textures that aren't right - charts, radio dials etc. -
1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
Phantom453 replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I wish they would fix this. Damn annoying to have to delete your profile files and re-map the lot time and time again, just because the odd mapping fault. -
Any new map would be welcome I would think, as long as it was built for EDGE. There are plenty of map location options which have been polled in this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99134

Thanks for this bonus system ED. Much appreciated.

It certainly would add to the ambiance if we could have a greater variety of damage modelling. For example: No cook-off for minor damage -some smoke. Limited visible physical damage - e.g. thrown track/ blown off components. Mobility only kills. Different amounts of smoke depending upon type of vehicle/ level of damage etc. (difference between a fully burning fuel truck vs a vehicle with heavy engine damage blowing smoke). No doubt there are plenty of other things more important for the devs to apply their efforts to at the moment, but this sort of detail would be nice to see one day.

Thanks for the update Lino.

Well I seem to have finally got a grip on the doppler navigation system now. I think it was a case of reading too much into how the system (may) work initially, followed by a healthy dose of "not trusting my instruments" enough when I did get it working. Had a bit more practice today and finished of with a five leg night navigation exercise over terrain I was unfamiliar with - and it worked a treat. Just wanted to say thanks to Cibit, Ragnar & Imp for their advice and assistance. Much appreciated.

we I'm getting the numbers to move, but I'm not convinced the course setting is working correctly. Just to confirm, the Mode Selector switch (behind the co-pilot's seat) has to be set to the right/ clockwise most setting as you look at it - lights off) - correct? Thanks for your help guys - much appreciated

I'm running the latest release 1.2.7.23803 I have only just tried Doppler navigation with this version - no earlier versions. So I'm unsure if it is something I'm doing wrong, or something that has now changed and Doppler navigation is now broken. Thanks.
