    ATC?

ATC would be one of those lingering issues I'd most like to see fixed in a general period of consolidation after the release of EDGE. Indeed ED were working on a revamped ATC back around 1.2.4 (I think it was) but put it on the the back burner due to staff turn over and other competing issues AFAIK. There is quite a list now of these "never worked correctly" or "got broken during update X.X.X" sort of issues that need to get sorted in a general tidy up of the game - before we move on with any more significant changes/ improvements IMHO.
  2. Yes, I'm really looking forward to flying this one too, in an Australian skin eventually. It just looks so awesome in the teaser. I guess it will take EDGE to make it look that good though.
  3. Try this from Lino http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=120699
  4. GTX 680 2GB at the moment with another one available to drop in SLI when EDGE is up and running.
  5. I'd be interested to see how they manage all the heavy flak concentrations with all the air-burst shells going off. Beach traffic etc. will also be interesting to see. 1940 steam trains ......
  6. I think people are rightly concerned about their investment Sith (just like you I'm sure), but I don't see and signs of "torches & pitchforks" here - certainly not towards ED. Far from it in fact . I think the majority of people are very appreciative of the way ED has stepped up and are trying to resolve this mess for the benefit of all involved. Unfortunately, in any information void, there is bound to be speculation. But as you point out, we will just have to do our best to await further advice from ED. On the other hand though, in relation to KS obligations discussed above, I haven't seen one single sign of "good faith" from Ilya Shevchenko. Not a single word that I am aware of. No explanation of a problem. No reworked plan - nothing but silence. The point being that he had an obligation to his backers and to the best of my knowledge made no attempt to demonstrate "good faith" whatsoever. And its not like he wasn't logging onto these very forums several times post the sudden stop in communication. So to my mind, if he ends up in court over this, then he only has himself to blame. If anyone has indeed seen something from Ilya on this forum, or any other forum, by way of explanation, then I'd love to see a link please. And just to be clear here, I'm not discussing I'm discussing KS rights, obligations, and acts of "good faith."
  7. Absolutely correct!! However, given ED already have $155K worth of DCS WWII development product from the KS funds alone and they are in the business of making money through developing DCS content, it would seem logical for them to continue making these WWII modules. The advantage being that they would no longer have the matrix millstone around their neck - my main point. Given ED partnered with RRG in the first place and have now picked up the whole DCS WWII project, this would seem a fair indicator that this was the way they wanted to go with DCS with regard to WWII content. ED have nothing but my complete respect for the way they have stepped up over this whole issue. I'm not a huge WWII fan but I backed the project because: ED were partners on this, I thought it might get me into the WWII scene a bit more, It helps promote the DCS enterprise as a whole, which I am very keen to see prosper and develop further in many aspects, including WWII.
  8. As we know the KS funds (~$155K) were indeed used towards the development of various components of DCS WWII. ED now has possession of this product, which they are continuing to work on, so they (ED) have benefited from the KS funds. Clearly, from what Matt has said, ED were the primary backers behind DCS WWII. If they failed to undertake due diligence on Ilyia's business model, then that is unfortunately their problem. It would seem that the easiest way out of this would be to simply refund the KS funds to the backers (remembering that there were backers at many different levels, some of whom pledged quite large amounts of money). Probably the easiest way of doing this is to just credit their ED accounts to the same amount as their full pledge (including the shipping costs that were paid where appropriate). We can then all just buy the WWII modules/ maps when they are released in due course and take it as a lesson learnt with respect to crowd funding. ED will avoid the matrix mess, the administrative overheads of t-shits and printed manuals, handing over plane modules at a unrealistic price and the ongoing bad feelings from those who rightly feel they have an ongoing entitlement to alpha/ beta access. ED can refund the money, draw a line in the sand on this mess and move forward from here. The losers out of this will be those that were looking forward to the printed manuals, t-shirts, early access and the SDK for the maps; but at least nobody will be out of pocket, which is all they gave in the first place anyway. From what I have read I can't recall anyone REALLY wanting the t-shirt. Manuals can be printed from the PDF's if so desired and perhaps ED can honour the release of the SDK as a sign of good faith - even if this is just locked to the WWII map/ package?
  9. Make sure you invert the axis and also make it a slider axis.
  10. I never did understand the logic of having separate DCSW and DCS WWII - even less so now that DCS WWII is being completely done by ED. It just seemed/es destined to create extra overheads and compatibility issues between the two. Why not just release the DCS WWII Europe map as another DSCW EDGE compatible map, along with Nevada and other future maps (Korea, Vietnam, Middle East ...). The scenario editor can control what aircraft are available in a mission. IMHO the current map should be the default map available free with DCSW. It will run under EDGE when released. We should have to purchase the new Nevada map (unless you were an original DCS A-10C beta backer). We should also have to pay for the new WWII Europe map (unless you were a DCS WWII Kickstater backer). As we have seen from Matt, a lot of time and money goes into these maps/ modules. Releasing DCS WWII as a separate model with a free map seems to be fraught with unnecessary complexity, compatibility issues, duplication in many areas and potentially lost revenue. just my $0.02 worth (Declaration: I am not an A-10C beta backer, but I am a DCS WWII Kickstarter backer)
  11. AFAIK both Crossfire and SLI will work with the new EDGE engine when released - up to four GPU if I recall correctly.

    Release??

    +1 Indeed.

    Release??

^ This +1. Very impressive considering what occurred. This sort of ethos is what will inspire me to support this dev team for many years to come. Really looking forward to the 21 - the model and detail just looks so awesome!! i can just imagine what the multi-player servers will be like in release week - swarms of Mig-21's everywhere.
  14. Yes, an improved ATC was in development back in about 1.2.4 I think it was, but has been on the back burner since then due to other priorities and staff changes as I recall.
  15. That two months is going to seem like two years!! Will this be a Beta release in August? It doesn't mention it.
  16. Thanks, Any chance of doing one for the Mi-8? I seem to have more trouble with that one.
  17. This pretty much sums it up for me. Having paid the extra dollars I'd like to get the manuals is possible, but more than anything, I'd like ED to remain viable if it comes to a crunch.
  18. ^ This. I know what you are saying, but this phase is a "necessary evil" IMHO for the Third Party Devs to ramp up in DCS. The advantages down the track however are that: - we will have aircraft coming from multiple sources, rather than just ED. - ED can concentrate on the the game engine and enhancements to that (and the odd aircraft). - We end up with a variety of aircraft, including training aircraft (which as still fun after all). - The Third Party Devs don't fold because they bit off more than they could chew (develop) first time around. Unfortunately, its just a matter of patience. I'm sure we will get there in the end.
  19. Big surprise to see how far along you guys are from the video!! Was expecting that I'd plan to swing by in about a year or so to see how you were going, but you've already done heaps!! Well done. Very exciting news.
  20. Not overly familiar with this aircraft, but seems similar in role (and look) to the Hawk. Good luck with this development.
  21. Thanks for your reply SiTh. My comment about you being thrown under the RRG bus related to you having to field the last 20+ pages of people venting (understandably) and asking a bunch of questions. Not tying you to RRG in any way, other than being a backer like the rest of us. Thanks also for your "personal thoughts" on the timeline. I guess that's pretty much what I was suspecting by way of reasonable deduction. DCS WWII - something to look forward to In the future then. Roll on Hawk, Mig 21 and EDGE!!
  22. Been away for a day and came back to 20+ pages of this. To be honest, this doesn't come as a big surprise at all, as I think many of us had sensed something had gone pear shaped with this project a while back. First of all though, I want to send a huge thank you to ED and team for coming to the rescue on this and providing the communication they have so far. I'm not a huge WWII fan, so I funded this KS project on the basis of: 1. It supports the DCS enterprise as a whole (I would never want to see this fail). 2. ED were partners with RRG on this, so to my mind it brought that level of professionalism and level of detail that we all love about DCS (Hence the first time I have backed something via crowd funding). 3. With a whole suite of aircraft and a period EDGE map being delivered as part of the project (with more content likely to follow) I thought I might actually get into the WWII scene a bit more. Poor SiTh!! Having just read 20+ pages of this it looks like you got thrown under the RRG bus. Reminds me of the Blues Brothers behind the chicken wire fence at the first gig they did at the "Country & Western" pub. I do have one question though please SiTh: As you stated, work has been continuing on this project all along; and as Matt stated, most of the old RRG team has been picked up by ED. Therefore I don't understand why final delivery of this project has been delayed by 8 months! The initial project was planned for just under a year: funded 6 Oct 13 - delivery Sep 2014 (from KS). Now we will not see the map until May 2015 (at this stage) and unknown as to when the 262 will see the light of day. Why such a long delay if work has still being ongoing all this time and existing RRG staff have been picked up? An additional eight months on top of a <12 month project seems excessive? Thanks.
  23. Nah, not me. I'd be happy with the 10-20 minutes once a week for the update that Luthier promised. Communication is indeed nice. But when said communication (weekly updates) was one of the "results" that was promised, and you took people's money up front, then you should deliver - no ifs , no buts. "Weekly updates" was one of the promised deliverables for this project. The unfortunate flow on from this is than many here may have second thoughts now about going down the crowd funding path for future DCS projects. Hence the next crowd funded project by some new developer, or even one of the other existing 3rd Party developers, may not get up to see the light of day, purely because of the lingering bad taste left by RRG.
  24. +1 from me too on this one. Would like to se the lights working in the Mi-8
