A reminder of the challenges
Phantom453 replied to Chief Instructor's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Check this video out. I watched it after the one posted by Chief Instructor. I seriously though the Mi-8 had suffered a control input failure when I initially started watching this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7MUFgYYrNc -
Admit it We were all thinking/ wishing that one for a second!! :music_whistling:

Two here, six minutes apart. Identical. Link takes me to what appears to be legit ED password change page (without requiring my password!). Obviously I haven't entered anything. Some advice from ED staff would be greatly appreciated right now about what is going on and what action, if any, is required. -
A very exciting newsletter with a ton of stuff on the way in the very near future. Indeed a biblical flood of new aircraft by DCS standards! However, judging from the last 12 pages of this thread, for most of us (including me) DCS World 2.0 + NTTR is clearly the number one big ticket item we are waiting for. I'm happy to commit to whatever human and / or animal sacrifices are deemed necessary for us to have DCS World 2.0 and NTTR on our computers before the Christmas break! I know the back room boys at ED are doing 36 hour days right now, but I really need a holiday in virtual Nevada this Christmas! Hope we're all happy come the end of the year. The multi-crew cockpit will bring a whole new level of awesomeness to DCS as well. Another must have. What fun that will be.

Should be able to buff that out with a little effort.
-
^ this sums it up for me too. I'm here for the detail DCS provides.

Thanks for keeping this updated Lino

I find this the same and indeed harder for the Sabre, as many of the stations seem to be almost on top of each other when you turn the dial. I'm convinced that you can hear more than one morse audio signal for the same dial location. Insufficient adjacent channel rejection seems to be the problem. I hope they can fix it up.

SiThSpAwn Devrim Lino_Germany Thanks. Nice thought.

I'd like to see this one, probably the southern box if we had to choose, but the whole lot would be nice. Its a sad fact of history that this region gives us almost constant real world scenarios from 1948 through to a few weeks ago, from both an air and land perspective, with limited naval options available too, not to mention the much broader scope if we go hypothetical as well. We could weave scenarios for pretty much every current and future DCS (and partner) aircraft into this area at one time or another. Significant desert/ arid and more sparsely populated areas will help reduce map detail & complexity, hopefully allowing for a larger map to be developed.

Outstanding work Strut. Love your work and thank you so much for the share. Much appreciated.

In another thread someone suggested a "Borg Cube." I guess that would require a DCS Federation map and/ or DCS Neutral Zone, if map size is a limitation? Nobody is going to want to fly a cube on the current map, right? :smilewink:

I was wondering if they ever made a Mig 21 capable of AAR? I haven't been able to find anything on one so far?
-
November?? That looks ready to go now! We really need that WWII map ASAP!
-
From the initial release of those stunningly detailed cockpit images through to all the feed back we are getting from the DCS testers and early release demo folk; everything here seems to be pointing towards a milestone event with the release or the Mig 21. Highly detailed in all visual and modelling aspects and highly polished as a complete product. I don't think DCS has seen anything like this since the release of the A-10C.

IMHO is seems okay from within the Huey cockpit during startup, but when you watch it form outside in F2 view, the same thing seems far too pronounced.
-
+1 missed that one the first read through. Very funny ... still laughing. Well done!
-
Looks like an A-10C and a F-117 had a huge night out and then got a bad new story nine months later.
-
A Middle East map would probably best fit that bill IMHO, with a chunk of the Mediterranean Ocean thrown in. Given the history of that region there is (unfortunately) endless scenario opportunities for the last 60+ years. Terrain would also be less complex than western Europe.

Thanks ED and team. You've has a great day and delivered. Well done & thanks. Hopefully in the next day or so I'll be fireballing down the runway while learning the Dora. My sincere congratulations & appreciation on a a pretty good rescue job from the steaming heap left by Luthier.

+1 Yes he is!!

The All Things Combined Past Release Date Discussions

Have to agree!! No matter how many times I've look at these images, I'm just stunned by the detail every time. Really is a work of art!! -
^ Yeah this. After all these years I'd give up my first born for a new map right now! I don't mind either that the first new map is for a training area, as I spend about 80% of my time practicing and flying training routines. Some Red Flag based scenarios will be enough for a bit of head to head action around Nevada. I also understand the stated reasons ED went with Nevada for their first new map. $40-$50 seems quite reasonable to me given the work that seems to have gone into Nevada (not to mention Edge). What we have seen so far looks pretty good to me. It also looks like we are moving away from those empty, sterile worlds as well, at least to some degree anyway. Time will tell though, and if ED wants to keep selling new maps for $40-$50, then they will have to make it worth $40-$50 to their customers. Based on what has rolled off their virtual production line so that though, I suspect we'll be pretty happy for the most part (once any initial bugs are ironed out). While nothing much has been disclosed, you certainly get he feeling from all those behind the scene (partners, developers, testers) that there is a lot of really good stuff coming with 2.0.0. I can't wait.
