Everything you've called "mud" is not mud - it's simulating dried out patches of grass, which is not unusual in peak dry summer. But mostly it's clear that Ugra has done it to create a little more depth to the textures in the scenes. It may be overdone a bit in places but it's an artistic approach to making things like taxiways, buildings and objects blend into the surroundings more cohesively ad create more of a "rough" finish. It's especially welcome for the GDR airbases. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_Air_Army#/media/File:FP_Sperenberg.jpg

UH-1H Revamp by Massun92
CommandT replied to Massun92's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I don't suppose you're working on any more DCS ground assets either for DCS core with ED or just separately? Some more animated ground crew would be super great... especially for the Soviet/ Russian/ RedFor side! Glad to hear Huey rework is not dead -

Do you think that with the passage of time there's a chance you guys might regain some enthusiasm and return to the project at some point in the future even if it's way way out? Thanks -
OH6 Little Bird MOD TOBI/EIGHT BALL
CommandT replied to Devil 505's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Yeah, the loss of both Tobi and Eight Ball, and the loss of the MH-6 is nothing short of a tragedy for the entire DCS community. The MH-6 was so eagerly anticipated by so many. It really is devastating. Especially given the volume of work that was already done for this. I sincerely hope that after some time off and a bit of fresh air both of them return with high spirits and continue their amazing work. I really hope they manage to see just how many positive and thankful people there are for their work, as opposed to the few muppets that were involved in them burning out and loosing motivation through this all too frequent social media effect - 100 positive comments are forgotten easily but the 3 bad comments stick like glue. There's no way those who were involved in them losing motivation and getting frustrated even account for 0.5% of users. Personally I'm so devastated over this. This was one of my most anticipated DCS modules/ mods. It's totally heartbreaking. Feels like Razbam all over again. @tobi @Eight Ball Please let us know as a community what we can do to help get things back up and running again -
Weapons Development Report | Marianas WWII | Q&A Part 2
CommandT replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
Great to finally hear something about the development of the Dynamic Campaign in the Q&A. I'm sure the community will be delighted to know that work is ongoing and that we are getting closer and closer finally. Exactly the sort of transparency that I think everyone was wanting on the topic, even if we still have another year to wait. Could I ask, following up on Matt's explanation as to why more RedFor full fidelity aircraft have not been done due to a lack of reference material, have ED ever considered adding some more RedFor aircraft to DCS in the form of "Flaming Cliffs" modules? We obviously have the Su-27 and Su-25 already, so what would be the issue adding MiG-23/27, Su-24 and perhaps even something more modern like Su-27SM, MiG-29SMT, Su-35S ect? Would there not be enough reference data to add them to the list of Flaming Cliffs aircraft with reduced complexity in terms of systems modelling? -

Yeah agreed about Afghanistan and Iraq. I basically got those with the sole purpose of flying the AH-6 on them when it came out. @Eight Ball @tobi I imagine you have already considered this, but would a full fidelity AH-6/MH-6 be a possibility? Surely that would sell like hot cakes with the aforementioned maps? The Little Bird is basically the most ideal/ fun helicopter that anyone can just get in and go, unlike the Apache or the Kiowa that are both highly compromised given the need for some form of co-pilot AI interaction. And since it's super easy to learn it would be ideal for loads of players with limited time. Never mind about the fact that every man and dog wants to fly something similar to a Black Hawk Down mission. If funding would help you with motivation irrespective of mod or full fidelity route please let us know here. You could start a crowd sourcing campaign? I'd imagine there's quite a few of us who are passionate enough that we would be willing to all chip in for the cause. Either way, wish you both all the best. Health first, everything else after that. Let us know how we can help to get the project back up and running if there is a way to do so. -

Wow this is so unexpected! This was shaping up to be the greatest mod ever made for DCS. I've been refreshing this thread every day in anticipation of the MH-6. But I'm not important, agree with everyone else - you guys are total rockstars for the joy you've brought us thus far! Thanks so much for your monumental efforts and I am certain there's many silent members that will have appreciated everything you've done and will be deeply saddened by the news. The unsung heroes of DCS for sure. I'll hope that you guys are doing well and maybe one day you return to this amazing project. Let us know as a community if there's anything we can do to help -

Some sort of update would be welcome The silence is both disappointing and intriguing all at once. -
100% disagree with this logic. Having the same weather conditions across the entire map is nothing short of immersion breaking. Having fog simply dissipate is not a practical solution to many scenarios. I think at the very least they could split the map into 3/4 sections where fog and wind could be changed individually and blended in between. Never mind about the clouds which in real life would never be them same 150nm apart.

Tactical Turns - Flying with an AI Wingman.
CommandT replied to BIGNEWY's topic in General Tutorials
It would be super useful to have voice recognition commands for all of these since in the heat of the moment going through the F10 menu is a pain to say the least. Either way a very welcome change. Does the AI slot back into their position automatically after a while? If you command them to make an in place x-degree turn but that doesn't line up perfectly with what Lead has done, does the AI know they then need to adjust to get back into position somehow? -
Hi folks, I'm really struggling to make the AI MiG-31s act anything like they would in real life. Can someone please help me figure out how I can set them up so that they a) shoot their R-33s at long range, and b) do not start chasing their target all the way up to a merge, and c) preferably stay at relatively high level, and within a certain zone. I've tried setting "AA Missiles Attack Ranges = MAX RANGE LAUNCH" but they still launch at 10-11nm from the target which seems very close, and worst still they then dive down onto the target and merge, obviously not a tactic a MiG-31 would ever employ in real life. Is there any way of having them launch far away, stay high, and at a certain point retreat back to another waypoint to reset? Thanks a million!

Sorry for the late response and thanks for the suggestions. It appears that my issue resolved itself with the latest DCS update, even though it was only related to the campaigns from what I could see.

MiG-29A(M) - Polish Modernised Fulcrum MOD

Apparently these modernised MiGs never made it to Ukraine so my video is a little more on the hypothetical side. Either way the Polish MiG-29A(M) mod in action: -

Hi guys, This started happening recently - every 30 seconds/ minute or so there is a quick freeze for a second or two whilst using the mission editor. The flying itself seems fine. Can't figure out what's going on. It's so infuriating. Any ideas? I deleted the fxo and metashaders folders, tried restarting DCS, computer ect - same issue. Just an occasional quick freeze every so often. Apart from installing 1 skin recently can't think of anything else I had changed. Cheers!

One of the biggest issues now is that no matter what wind speed you set, you just can't get the seas to look rough. This is my video from 3 years ago... how much better do those white horses/ crests look on the waves?! Can we not get those back with high winds?

Sorry to be spamming with more OH-6 shenanigans, but, couldn't help myself Any timeline at all of the Little Bird or any of the other assets? Still eagerly awaiting the dinosaurs! -
That's exactly what I needed! Thanks a million

Very surprised that this Newsletter didn't go into at least some detail on the stuff we saw in the video, especially a development overview and status of the Dynamic Campaign Engine, AI improvements, Vulkan, EF2000 ect? Or are we getting an overview of the current status of DCS in another newsletter soon?

Is anyone aware of a marine drone mod for DCS by any chance? Even something that would half-resemble a marine drone like a small speedboat that doesn't have any humans and is preferably painted in a dark-ish/ black colour? Cheers!
