  1. Is anyone else getting crazy grass shimmering with 2.9 by any chance?
  2. Hi all, I have crazy shimmering when looking at 3D grass in game now after installing 2.9. It's crazy bad. There's an effect of lots of little black dots scattered all over the grass which are shimmering. Tried to play around with various settings but can't get rid of it. Is there a fix? Anyone else having the same issue? I've attached my DCS settings. My system specs: AMD 3950X OC @ 4.3GHz Nvidia RTX 3090 64GB RAM 2TB M.2 EVO 970 SSD
  3. Sure, here's a track file. On the previous attempt the bandit (F-15E S4) did shoot an amraam at 25nm head on but did not crank. In this situation he did not crank nor shoot. AI set to ace. The result is similar amongst other 4th gen fighters. Is this just my game doing this? Bandit does not crank or shoot.trk

  5. Hi all, Haven't used my VR headset (reverb G2) since before MT implementation. Been messing about with it today and noticed that: 1. Using the MT .exe I seem to get a few more stutters here and there and performance drops in certain areas compared to what I used to get before. Marianas islands map in particular became a slideshow which was not the case at all before when I last used my VR headset a few months back. 2. Using the regular (non-MT) .exe - VR is impossible. It seems to run in a much higher resolution despite all settings being the same for both .exe's?? And stutters like crazy... presumable because for whatever reason it's running a much higher resolution. But I don't get why? I checked the DPI in the DCS VR settings and it's the same... so I'm kind of confused what is going on? Cheers!
  6. So you can loc So you can lock a target with the radar alone whilst the IRST is off and shoot the R-27T/ET? I was under the impression that it's either IRST alone or Radar + IRST for it be able to lock and transfer the lock to the seeker head of the missile?
  7. Hi all, I'm a little confused. I was sure that a relatively long time ago now ED have redone the AI BVR logic where they were cranking and stuff? Just doing some 1v1 testing here and can't see them doing that. Also they often don't even manage to get a shot off. I'm testing Su-27 Vs various other 4th gen jets with Fox 1s and the AI skill level is set to ace. We start on equal terms, 40nm apart head on, same speed, same altitude. Loosing a fight seems almost impossible. The AI don't crank and sometimes don't even shoot. I changed the AI parameter to shoot "based on enemy threat" and I'm not sure if it's improved things that much. They sometimes do get 1 long range shot off but then never manage to follow through with a kill shot. What happened? Did the AI logic change in some update again? Running latest OB.
  8. Hi guys, I was hoping someone could clear up my confusion on the R-27T/ET. I understand that these must use the IRST to have a lock before being able to shoot. So my confusion lies in this concept - the IRST has significantly less range to lock a target than a radar, so what is even the point of having these missiles, especially the ET variant when you can't actually shoot them until you get a lot closer? I understand there's decent use cases for closer ranges where the R-73 doesn't quite have the legs, especially chasing a target, but am I right in saying there's effectively no way of using the R-27T/ET at it's maximum range? Or maybe I'm missing something. Thanks!
  9. So this is fun... just updated DCS to the new OB On start up I first get a "Failed to get authorization data. Error code is: 504 No saved authorization found." Then I get... "The following DLCs are not authorized and will be disabled: F-15C Red Flag Campaign Supercarrier F-5E Tiger II M-2000C Red Flag Campaign Falklands AV-8B N/A AJS37 Christen Eagle II F/A-18C Flaming Cliffs 3 Nevada L-39 M-2000C FA-18C Aggressors BFM Campaign Mi-24P Su-33 UH-1H Huey FA-18C Raven One Campaign PersianGulf Syria F-5E Air Combat Maneuvering Campaign" Any ideas?
  10. Hey folks, Anyone else have an issue contacting tankers? I only flew mission 3 but could not get either of the tankers to reply to me on the radio when requesting to rejoin for fuel. They are just silent. Also when tuning in either of the tacans neither seem to be working.
  11. Yes I see Bunyap redid the campaign. Minus the inconsistency between waypoints it's actually a great campaign I think!
  12. Thanks, yep I figured out the deal. The campaign mission I am flying seems to work 100% using a different aircraft module so at least that's good!
  13. Hi all, Is it just me or has this campaign had some sort of major overhaul fairly recently? It appears the documentation has changed. Now instead of nice maps with wpts we have some sort of pretty poor kneeboard line up cards? Also, I can see in the ME that the waypoints (at least in Mission 3) do not match the line-up card nor the the little map graphic. There seems to be extra waypoints for CAP zones. And the sequence of waypoints is now completely different compared to the old docs I have. I saved the original documentation. Looks like they've actually changed quite a bit?
  14. Actually I just realised that after making changes to this DLC mission in the ME, the "save" or "save as" options are greyed out! Why is that? Any way round it? I had copied and renamed the said mission before starting to tinker with it.
  15. Hi all, I want to take a mission from a DLC campaign and within the mission editor, change the aircraft type for the player's unit. Will this break the mission for some reason I can't think of? I assume all the triggers should still work?

    Turbulence

    I also think turbulence in DCS is very very poor, even when selected in the ME. In general you always fly through perfectly smooth air - in clouds, over mountains, everywhere. It's one area where MSFS does feel light years ahead... just little bumps here and there. Really wish DCS made an attempt at fixing this, as it's an amazing simulation otherwise. Regarding wake turbulence I am really not convinced. I switched it off. Unless something has changed in the last year? I have around 5500h of flight time in real life just for reference. Maybe others will disagree but I am just not sold on the wake turbulence. Feels very weird sometimes and doesn't give you a sort of buffet you'd expect either.
  17. Thanks! Finally got it to work. Is there a way of actually dropping/ spraying water from the water tank under the Huey? Or from the water basket?
  18. Could you tell me the file path in C/Eagle Dynamics/... for the WaterTankSystem, Ext_Fuel, Flexcam & powerline folders for the mod? I'm wondering if I've put them in the wrong place or something

  20. Turns out you can't drop any water from the bucket in the mod above. Anyone know of any mod where this would be possible?
