jojo
We will see for Hornet. As far as I am concerned, I found VRS F/A-18E Super Hornet more user friendly than DCS A-10C. Mirage fanatic ! asla36
User friendly is boring, give all the modularity in crude late mod additions pls ! :) Puh, please!!! But yeah, totally on the same page. As long as you can do it accurately, and realistically, do it. The cruder and harder to learn the better, a module being hard to use gives it longevity. That's why i'm bored with FC3, the systems offer no challenge to use. DCS: MiG-23 [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC] Make it happen, and take my money! :D
sniperwolfpk5
Okay folks, here is the deal. I was getting ready to do the Maverick target lock and firing test when I realized something: The TDC is not working as it should. The TDC code was a quick job so we could have a demo for E3, but now I must deal with the real deal: The AV-8B (DA, NA and Radar) does not have one TDC. It actually has TWO! One is called the "Action TDC" and the other one is the "Non-Action TDC" and both TDCs are handled by the same button. If you press the button, you use one and if you don't press the button you use the other one. Confused? It gets better. The AV-8B has at least two sensors (NA and Radar has three). Each sensor has TDC capability. So the aircraft must keep track of which sensor is being used at this time regardless of whatever display you have in the MPCDs. Nice, right? And I'm not even using the TGP yet! Yes, the TGP adds another complexity layer to the whole TDC problem because the aircraft DOES NOT RECOGNIZE the TGP as a sensor. Yes it is a sensor pod, but for the aircraft it is just another load in a pylon. So when you are using the TGP, there are THREE submodes for using the TDC with the TGP and one of those disconnects the aircraft trim!! And all that is without slaving the TGP to an inboard sensor! And now I have a headache and will sort this whole mess on Monday. Life of a programmer with full of thrills Win10, Intel 3rd Gen. Zeus67
So does the AV8B have a sensor of Interest like the A-10C then? The DMT is just like the litening, except it does not have a laser designator and flir. Airj247
Sorry if this has been asked before, but will the nozzle angle only be controlled by an axis, or could we also have buttons mapped to decrease/increase the angle? I was inverted B)

Zeus67
After reading about that whole TDC mess. I decided that I need all sensors working before I deal with it. So, here it is: The Dual Mode Tracker DMT. One of the integral parts of the Angle Rate Bombing System ARBS. The DMT basically works like an integrated TGP, except that it does not have a laser designator nor FLIR. But it can lock on laser spots and do video target locks. With the DMT, INS, ADC and SMS, all of which are modeled in the DCS aircraft, the ARBS can calculate impact point and do auto weapons release for ALL the weapons the AV-8B NA can carry. The DMT has two main modes: VIDEO and NO VIDEO. In VIDEO mode it will show a 6:1 magnified image to the pilot. It can be shown in any MPCD but if commanded by HOTAS, it will be shown in the right MPCD. When the DMT is not locked on a target, it is slaved to the Velocity Vector. That means that you can use the HUD's VVM to select and lock a target as well as use the **bleep** TDC. Here's a video test of the DMT: "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." "The three most dangerous things in the world are a programmer with a soldering iron, a hardware type with a program patch and a user with an idea." Dudikoff
The DMT basically works like an integrated TGP, except that it does not have a laser designator nor FLIR. But it can lock on laser spots and do video target locks. If I understand correctly, the TV part requires s certain amount of contrast between the target and its surroundings to establish and maintain lock which can be tricky in some conditions. But, I presume this is not simulated in DCS and the optics lock to objects directly instead? If so, in DCS it will then really function similar to a TGP in regards to target lock and tracking, while in reality its target locking and tracking capabilities should presumably be rather inferior due to a lack of IR sensor. Zeus67
Images from the latest DMT test. Two remaining issues: TDC and Laser Track. BTW, due to a recent information received all colors were changed to green. The AV-8B NA only uses color for the color map. Everything else is green. It is for easier use with NVGs. I will make a CCRP bombing run video when the TDC is working. A self laser tracking bomb run video will be made when the TGP is fully working. Here is the initial run of the bombing run. The DMT video has been enabled through HOTAS I'm just checking the targets using the video camera. No target selection yet. Turning around. The center of the DMT FOV is the center of the VVM in the HUD. The DMT camera has a sun shutter that will activate when the camera eye is in the vicinity of the sun. Video will be disabled and DMT will enter into the NO VIDEO mode. Target locked and making a bomb run. The camera is locked on the target while I am maneuvering to align with it. DMT enters into NO VIDEO mode when the aircraft flies over the locked target and gimbal limits are reached. The ARBS saves the locked target position so the pilot can fly around and attack if again DMT reenters into VIDEO mode as soon as the camera is within gimbal limits. Since ARBS saved the target position, lock is resumed without pilot interaction.
