EcceHomo
Does DCS F-18C contain BRU-55? If BRU-55 exists, then F-18C can mount eight JDAMs. Hahaha The Navy received its first BRU-55 in 2006. kaoqumba
This will be great! Because not only JDAM, but also LGB, and AGM65 missiles, they can be used!

backspace340
Multiple racks are coming, but won't be available initially. Interesting, that's a change from what seemed to be the plan before the Hornet released isn't it? I'm really happy if we do get the double racks, the Hornet will be a real powerhouse with 8 JDAMs.
Eldur
The Navy received its first BRU-55 in 2006. Here's the link. https://newatlas.com/go/5900/ Just will we get a 2005ish Hornet that has something added a year later? I'd definately appreciate the addition since it's not that far away. If it was a 2015 addition, I'd probably say no thanks, this won't be a mid 2000s Hornet anymore then. And after all, mission designers can limit the stores to their likings any day Edited December 11, 2018 by Eldur

I'm unsure, I will see if I can find out, as I think dual mounted Mavericks are still out. Nealius
What's the difference between the BRU-33 and BRU-55? Currently we can carry 2 GBUs on the BRU-33s.

Nealius
By "smart weapons" they mean JDAM and JSOW? I always understood LGBs to be included under "smart weapons," and they already work with the BRU-33.
Eddie
JDAM/JSOW require a data connection to the aircraft (1760 interface), the BRU-33 doesn’t provide this, the BRU-55 does. Paveway II/III LGBs don’t have any electronic connection to the aircraft. Cytt0rak
I can't really find operational year info about BRU-55 and JDAMs. There are some websites that state JDAMs came late 2007 to F/A-18A-D whilst you can find other sources stating BRU-55/A sales to NAVY in 2006. Is F/A-18 we got definitely 2005 one?
Eddie
Military procurement and test & eval programmes take years, purchase dates aren’t an indicator of in-service date. JDAM came before BRU-55. We’ll be getting the former, but probably not the latter.
