Kayos Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Folks, today we have passed a milestone. Today we have declared the EFM in Beta status. Due to that, from now on the aircraft will use the EFM exclusively in all our tests/development sessions. Awesome! Can't wait to try it out! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

golani79 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I think he just say they are using only EFM now so we will get it in end december with M2000 beta. Do i understand well? Yes - and as far as I know it was always their intention to bring the M2000 beta including EFM in December. >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
escaner Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I am somewhat confused here. The pre-purchase web (see link below) advises that this plane has AFM, and then here I read that it was SFM and now EFM. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/m2000c/ So... it is AFM or EFM? EFM means its a flight model created outside of ED, AFM is the level of complexity of the FM... For example it can be an AFM level EFM. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Ultra Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) I am somewhat confused here. The pre-purchase web (see link below) advises that this plane has AFM, and then here I read that it was SFM and now EFM. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/m2000c/ So... it is AFM or EFM? Yes it is confusing at first. :D PFM and AFM are ED specific levels essentially. SFM just means a simpler flight model with more scripted behavior. EFM means a flight model made by a 3rd party company. EFMs are made with the discretion of the 3rd party. They can be about equal to an AFM, or they can be better like a PFM, or somewhere in between. That's my understanding. EDIT: Sniped^^^ Edited November 9, 2015 by Ultra 1
escaner Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 From this post, I understand: SFM < AFM/AFM+ < EFM < PFM EFM being a lower fidelity PFM for third parties... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team NineLine Posted November 9, 2015 ED Team Posted November 9, 2015 From this post, I understand: SFM < AFM/AFM+ < EFM < PFM EFM being a lower fidelity PFM for third parties... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 No, EFM only states that its created outside of ED, it doesnt tell you the complexity of the FM. External Flight Model. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Brisse Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 From this post, I understand: SFM < AFM/AFM+ < EFM < PFM EFM being a lower fidelity PFM for third parties... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801 You are wrong about EFM. There's no way to tell where on the scale EFM should go, because it is entirely up to each third party dev to decide for themselves how they want to make the flight model. escaner Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 OK. But then the SFM for the M2000 was already EFM, right? Why call it EFM now? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flagrum Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 OK. But then the SFM for the M2000 was already EFM, right? Why call it EFM now? No, SFM is built in into DCS but is adjusted and configured by many, many parameters and variables. So, technically, it is not an external flight model - only the parameters are defined by someone else than ED. All other FM types have to be coded and programmed "by hand" - and if that is done by someone not belonging to ED, it is ... voilla "external"/EFM. Otherwised it can be AFM/PFM. 1
WinterH Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 EFM = umbrella term for any flight model developed for DCS outside of ED and is not SFM. SFM is just that, it is what sim does by default according to data you feed to it, so unless I am mistaken development of SFM is mainly feeding and tweaking data. I think you can also do some scripting to simulate some behaviours for a given condition like stalling etc but it is still data driven SFM at heart. SFM isn't considered EFM even if "developed" by a third party unless I am mistaken. 1 Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script

Brisse Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Why doesn't ED outsource Yo-Yo's talent to guarantee the same level of flight model qualities across the board? Because Yo-Yo is a very busy man. Third parties still have to go through ED quality assurance before they are allowed to release their product, right?

Zeus67 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Video of an EFM test flight with a gun kill. rrohde Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Nice clip, Zeus67! Thank you. Do you also have a video that shows the new and improved ground handling using EFM? Nose wheel turns, braking, taxiing? Landing? Would love to see how weight and friction affects ground handling with EFM. :) PC: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | MSI Suprim GeForce 3090 TI | ASUS Prime X570-P | 128GB DDR4 3600 RAM | 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD | Win10 Pro 64bit Gear: HP Reverb G2 | JetPad FSE | VKB Gunfighter Pro Mk.III w/ MCG Ultimate VKBcontrollers.com
Moos_tachu Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 (edited) The FM and the snake are still a bit erratic but it's still a beta ! Before posting this kind of comment, you should always ask yourself two questions: - How sure am I of what I'm going to post? (in this case, do I know which stick inputs the pilot is making?) - How is it going to be perceived by the guy who's just spent 14 hours a day over the past weeks to make it work?
