We already know the tomcat is coming (they have to make it now with all the hype) so these teasing aren't doing much to me , in a few days LN will post their monthly update and we`ll get all the info anyway, just need a few days of patience.

p.s

please don't be the A model ... :o

Am I the only one who thinks an F-14a would be equally good as a B or D.

You would have to fly the aeroplane and the throttles with finesse, and watch your yaw rate. Simulated compressor stalls and flat spins could be incorporated and it would add a further complexity to carrier landings. I'd love a B or a D for it's own reasons but I would still be jumping for joy for an F-14a.

Like you said , the main issue we would have is the engines, and since avionics would be mostly the same for the B , giving us a A model is basically needlessly crippling an otherwise great plane.

hopping for a D model is not realistic , i doubt they can get the info needed for that , its too complex (glass cockpit, datalink and IRST mainly being the issue)

If you de-contrast the FB picture, the cockpit looks like it belongs to a Corsair or Hellcat, hard to tell...

So Leatherneck's 2015 release is possibly a WW2 bird?

Well, they have emphasized that they have 3 aircrafts in advanced developement...But yeah WW2 bird is probably the one, given its low system complexity.

:(

Was hoping for the F14 (any designation) to be the 2015 plane. But yeah now that I think about it, how long it took to make the Mig, how long it's taking ED to do the F18C, and how quickly the WWII birds are being released, I guess your prediction makes a lot of sense.

The other image shows a Hellcat so.. So, the three planes seem to be F6F, P-38 and F-14?

Hope it's the F-14B..

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

I dont think ED's dynamic weather system can model time traveling storms yet :D

Sounds like they need to readjust their priorities before the F-14b is Final and the Countdown has ended.:music_whistling:

An F4-U would be awesome, I remember back in the day playing CFS2 flying the Corsair all the time. Was my favourite of the lot, except maybe the Hellcat. Also, if they did an F-14 AND a MiG-23 I doubt I'd ever really need to buy another module again (other than perhaps the Hornet and if it was ever done a Harrier and a Tornado).

actualy i'm wondering if the leatherneck team placed bets on how fast this community would come up with the correct guess, or if it is just like a "sport" to confuse the community ;)

I think he would prefer the B over the A. One other thing to consider, the D would have avionics which would have a great deal in common with the latest naval fighters still in use and as such would be classified. No one is going to waste time making planes with too many incomplete systems, so the F14 will most probably be the A or B variant.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Morbid curiosity - I am not challenging, because I have no indepth knowledge to even pretend to challenge with... How did this happen with the A-10C and the Ka-50.. both are still operating; F-14D is done and gone yet still classified? How can that be? Are ground pounding aircraft less classified than fighters or something?
