Well I am not certain if DCS has implemented wing vapor "Like that", but they may have and we simply haven't met the conditions to see it.. We have no idea how fast this plane is flying, what altitude, what the temperature is or the relative humidity.. All of these items effect the vapor coming off the wings..

So my answer is .. I don't know, but just because you haven't seen it doesn't necessarily mean it isn't modelled in the sim..

Limititions of the current engine maybe...

We might even see it in EDGE who knows

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

i was blown away the first time i saw the wingtip vortices that are actually modeled

sure, i'm hoping for whatever improvements they can make - but you gotta hand it to ED, when it comes to visuals, few can exceed what ED does!

I think wing vapor would be quite difficult to model in the sim. A bit like the damage model for the aircraft. There is probably 10 or so different damage models (that I can tell any way) per aircraft. How many instances would need to be modeled for wing vapor? I can imagine that the devs would need to model 50+ vapor models per aircraft so that under difference thrust\speed\turn radius etc etc you are not seeing the exact same wing vapor under difference conditions. Then there is the weather, altitude and many other factors to consider when modelling the vapor. Probably delay edge a few more years just to please a handful consistently posting pics of wing vortex's

The developers time is better spent working on actual aircraft and scenery rather than wasting time trying to develop a realistic vapor trail or wing vortex for every aircraft.

Well, vapor effects irl depend on atmospheric conditions so there isn't one effect that fit all situations..

You guys are being silly. This is a sim that calculates aerodynamics on the fly. They could do that just fine if they wanted. The question is if the labour is worth the product.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.

That was a mod, but AFAIK it was never released. We don't know how it looks in motion either.

Mod of what?

In my interpretation mod or modding is change/swap something what is already exist in the simulation, but honestly I've never seen something like that. Except that Su-27 promo video by Glowing Amraam but that looks a feature of Adobe After Effects (what GA loves to use IMHO).

Vapor looks flashing and vibrate there, doesn't look in motion likewise :(

edit: (IIRC there were plenty of fuselage vapor effects in the Flanker2 sim)

If any of you have read the interview with Wags in the latest PC Pilot he says that they're working on "over wing vapor effects" for DCS 2, so I think we can be optimistic ;)

You don't need EDGE to get the effect... Heck go ole Falcon 4 had it and I believe it was just for the Viper.

And TBH it didn't look that good.

It was made by three steps dependent of G and it was 2D. But in '98 it was a nice effect. :D

EDIT: By HungaroJet, an awesome guy.

yeah, just wait for his new (and never seen before in simulations) mindblowing various features/effects for DCSW2

two years has passed already ? (without his words/posts)

as i see (unfortunately???) he is not slow but maximalist in realistic spectacle :)
