Raven_Morpheus Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hello I've tried the A-10C in-game training videos/missions but they are so full of "waffle" and those annoying "press space to continue" moments that I get lost, confused, and generally feel like I'm not really learning how to operate the A-10C systems in a basic manner. I have the great "how to take off and blow stuff up" mission and PDF for the Ka-50 (sorry I forget who made it, but I thank the guy that did) and I found that a very easy tool to learn the basics of the Ka-50. So, I'm wondering if there is anything like that for the A-10C? TIA
baltic_dragon Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hmm, don't recall a mission like that.. you need to read the manual and go step by step learning one thing after another. Don't think there is a way around it unless you turn off the sim mode... For more information, please visit my website. Yurgon Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Personally, I think the A-10C tutorials are very well done and they helped me a lot to get a basic understanding of the aircraft and its systems. After that I did quite a bit of basic flying, emergency systems, cold start and shutdown procedures and stuff like that before I went ahead to blow stuff up, where videos were indeed a tremendous help in order to wrap my head around all those complicated systems. After flying mostly solo for years, I've recently started to fly MP a little more and find that it's both very enjoyable and I learn a lot about working in a team and making use of all the fancy datalink stuff that's not really important in SP. BTW, How to blow stuff up was made by Para_Bellum and it really helped me with the Ka-50 as well.
StrongHarm Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Do a search for RTFM. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Kimi_uy Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I don't think there's a halfway point between full sim and casual in the A-10C. If u wanna blow stuff up may I suggest the A-10A? [sIGPIC]][/sIGPIC] Fuel Planning Tool | DCS: A-10C SADL MOD | Kimi's Arma 3 Mods | Twitch.tv
DrDetroit Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I thought the training missions were very well done. It did get me clued into startup and basic procedures. Sometime the triggers don't function, but if you do as you're told by the instructor, shouldn't be a problem. From there, I started watching a lot of tutorials to fine tune weapon procedures, radios, navigation, ect. I would put these lessons to use with a few simple missions I created so I can work on running in (3/9) and deploying the armament. It's a challenge to learn the systems, more so to learn how to employ them properly with great effect. Good luck! DrDetroit
ED Team NineLine Posted April 9, 2015 ED Team Posted April 9, 2015 Yeah, I think the in game tutorials are an awesome starting point, I would like to see some more advanced operations added, but over all what is included gives you a great foundation. IceFire Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Completely agree.. I've flown the A10c since beta.. I considered myself a great hog driver.. However, I purchased all of the Maple Flag Missions from Sabre. They are without a doubt THE best training aid I have ever seen. When I flew these missions even the basic thru advanced flight and combat training, I found myself severely lacking in the procedures and tactics that the A10C needs to be effective.. They don't just teach you how.. they teach you WHY things are done.. Its incredibly well done and I would buy any more they come out with. Stewart Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Yeah Sabre's are probably the best out there they are not video's but hands on missions. Video's are good but hands on is the best and Sabre didn't you use real instructor audio to script your training missions? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sabre-TLA Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Yes we based the missions on Standard Operating Procedures where possible. In the Advanced and Tactical campaigns we introduced more procedural items like the FENCE check and Range Check In and Out. The Tactical campaign has realistic target briefings and lots of background on the specific procedures as you fly to the range (CAS, BAI, SEAD, CSAR, working with an AC-130 Gunship, etc). We hope to use the learnings from that campaign and apply it to future campaigns for different aircraft (and create some Red Flag like campaigns when DCS 2.0 comes out). Plus I really hope ED introduces an AC-130 Gunship. It was fun to script it in the mission but it would be awesome to have one that worked well as AI or an option to fly in it and work the weapons systems. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
