Fantastic game & I am.

Hopefuly it's not against the rules to discuss this RPG in this section, the game has nothing to do with simming, so I guess any and all comparisons to DCS should be null and void (and so won't get me in trouble with the mods....hopefuly :))

If it's against the rules, mods feel free to delete/close the thread.

As long as this doesn't become a support thread the mods will probably be ok with it.

I liked the Witcher part one, but somehow I forgot playing part 2 so my OCD tells me I can't play part 3 before I haven't finished part 2....

Try to ignore your OCD and BUY this game. It's simply awesome in an oldschool way that simply isnt done anymore. For comparison it makes Bioware's latest RPG look like Super Mario Bros :)

I´m going to pass. Witcher 2 was unplayable for the first 6 months (would not even launch) and later patches significantly improved the game (added a new first act, changed combat etc). I have heard the camera and combat in Witcher 3 is somewhat wonky, so I will grab it once everything is fixed and the price is low. Maybe it´s awesome but once burnt...

Gotta say something else as well, I didnt like the first Witcher (too linear, and action - not rpg - focused), and completely skipped the second. However the third has got me in a firm iron grip and wont let go. It's truly a fantastic game, probably the best story based RPG Ive played in years.

I do, but it's Part II not the new thing. I might actually play through it - it's a lot better than Part I, but I hate the QTEs.

Does the new part have QTEs?

Pfft. The new Wolfenstein: New Order was 44gb!

I really enjoyed the previous two Witcher games, despite not completing them, so I'll definitely be buying number three at some point in the near future, then waiting until six or so months have passed before I play so that the patches can be rolled out :)

Holy Cow, I almost forgot about it (bought last year to support GoG/CD, downloaded last week). Installing now. :)

The Witcher 1 was easily one of the best RPGs I ever played, on par with Gothic 1 and 2. The Witcher 2 was kind of a disappointment for me because it failed to meet my expectations in almost all aspects. All I heard about the Wild Hunt so far sounds pretty promising. If you guys don't hear from me in the next two or three weeks, chances are I'm enjoying it. :D

Edit: Wow, the game looks absolutely fantastic! More importantly, for the first hour or so it feels pretty good. So, my first impression is rather positive.

Don't think my system will be able to handle that one. :(

It works surprisingly well, even on a budget card. I have a GTX 750 Ti and, on default settings, I seem to get around 30 FPS. Haven't actually checked the numbers though, just my gut feeling. Perfectly playable, in any case.

Since we are still waiting for EDGE, my PC is currently being worked with Witcher 3. Spectacular game. Its insane on how much attention to detail was given for this game. And it runs beautifully at 1080p with everything maxed...a true treat to the eyes.

Got it too and will give it a go this weekend. With Witcher3, Project Cars and Dirt I have gotten 3 games in like 10 days I've been waiting for for quite some time. And now I don't have the time to actually play them :-(

Same here (Witcher3, Project Cars, Heroes of the Storm). At least it will make the wait for EDGE less excruciating

I loved the first two Witcher games despite their wonky combat. But I'm going to wait a couple months for the third one, just to give them time to sort out any major issues it may have. I may also replay the first two first.

Edit: Oh, 24GB isn't that big for a game these days. RoF is 22GB, DCS 20GB, FarCry4 32GB and RomeII 24GB. So yeah, 24GB is very much the average. Aren't you glad no one sells this stuff on DVD's? We'd be back to the old "insert disk 7 to continue" nonsense of the PC dark ages.

I'm well out of touch, as I never play these games, (this ones free).

But 24 Gb is big when you've got to download it all again because of corrupted files.

I remember being astounded at Total War, when it was over 1 Gb. :)

Edit. Looks like I've been short changed on part 6 file. Only 1.6 Gb instead of 4 Gb. so fingers crossed.

Nope, still don't work, (check sum error). Does 24.1 Gb over 8 bin files sound right?

I´ve played The Witcher 1 and 2 and I really liked them - also read the first book which was pretty good.

I´ve got The Witcher 3 but I think I´ll finish Pillars of Eterniy first.

Have tried it though to see how it runs and looks and it left a pretty decent first impression.

I´m sure I´ll have fun with it.

Yeah got it with my graphics card. It's amazing so far! Runs really well on my PC at 1440p. Had to turn of the hair effects thing to get a stable frame rate. (Not really a problem, unless fabulous hair is your thing)

So far the story is really good even though I have never played a Witcher game before. The combat is pretty challenging, at least for me, but still fun.

LOL, I remember those times as well. :megalol:

(Wing Commander 4, 6 DVDs IIRC, or were those CDs?)

For me, the download from GoG (pre-download) consists of one setup.exe and 6 .bin files weighing in at a combined 21.9 GB, and then there's patch 1.02 and patch 1.03 at 302 and 271 MB respectively.

No clue about other releases.

Especially with part 1, I hated the combat system - until I started to love it. It's fairly unique and takes some time to get used to.

With The Witcher 3 I'm at the noob stage again and need to get re-acquainted, but judging from part 1 it's worth investing some time.
