Because the sim is required to be paused right now to make changes, imagine 30 people with the power to pause the sim at any give time during a MP match.

But i wonder , if you do pause the sim in multiplayer , would it then be possible to change keybindings after all? or is it the button just not there in multiplayer?

What time the release is based? I mean, they will release the 1.5, at Moscow time ? will they release it in Moscow time or what?

Probably get shot down a dozen times by SAMs too... too distracted by the smoke effects to actually put effort into actually dodging the SAM

It has always been EST, or EDT, time when I see releases. But then it is always that time here. ;)

There is no specific time it will be released, when its ready, it will update.

I know. I just asked to know what time exactly they release the updates, for example, they won't release the DCS 1.5 at 1:00 AM in Moscow, right? so, knowing this, we can have a base, another example, right now is 1:30 PM at EST, so they have the afternoon to release it, if it was AM, they won't release it at dawn... do you undestand what I am trying to get at ?

 

If it's afternoon there, they are (probably) working on it.. I think they sleep at night.. and they won't release it at night (at EST time) ;)

ED devs arent allowed to sleep, sometimes on vacation, but they arent allowed to have vacations, so that sucks ;)

Agreed. This would be welcome as long as the host was willing to pause. This way it could be allowed among friends but not exploited on open servers.

Or you could just set up your stuff like a responsible pilot before entering MP ;)

This. While it's nice to be able to keep the game running and make changes to controls in MP, it's not really necessary. All that stuff should be done in single player and worked out before anyway.

I don't get this whole 'responsible pilot' argument. It popped up in the thread in wishlist section as well. I don't understand why to limit that option at all if there is a possibility of having it in game. The engine limitation is that the sim needs to be paused to change keys, fine, but if it's not too much trouble to implement I would for sure welcome the option to allow my friends to change their keys on my private server. Not that I personally need it as I have everything pretty much setup but it has happened to me many times that I started a game for my friends with a simple training mission to teach them DCS and it would be very useful if they were able to change keys, I wouldn't mind at all. That's the whole point of our MP session, to teach them and to help them set everything up. The thing is that new player does not know which keys he needs to map to his joystick and so on and I also don't remember everything to tell them in advance. So in the end it's more distracting to both of us when he needs to quit in order to change keys. I don't really see any other than a technical reason to not allow this.

It will be ready when its ready, its not about 'promises' its about getting us something we can use. So knock off the promises stuff, they have acknowledged everything and are doing their best, nothing else can be said.

And sometimes button/key assignments are deleted with a patch due to a change in iCommand that aren't caught until a mission is being played. Again, it's a "nice to have" feature that if available only during a host pause would be beneficial without causing issues.

 

EDIT: Don't sweat it; I saw the wink. Just saying that there is a legitimate use for the feature even among responsible players.
