It's passed from the Steam client usually - see here to change that:

I don't think the modules have CN localization depots filled in as yet - on Steam they show up as 0 bytes (even for the Su27/FC3 depot).

 

PS How do you activate that Chinese Su-27 pit - I tried with Config / Special / FC3 and with the Config / Gameplay / Show Cockpit Language but haven't managed to make it work as yet.

Anyone had any luck getting the Steam version to update? Steam is picking up that there is a new version but it's just hanging at starting download and listing 0 out of 0 bytes as size.

I'm glad to report the torrent protocol was a efficient method for my location and ISP.

I reached a pretty stable 1MB/s DL speed (ADSL 16 Mb/s) (which is good).

I hope everyone will be happy with the torrent DL for the upcoming 2.0.

 

Is there a way to continue seeding the torrent when we'll have downloaded the whole update?

I had to uninstall FC3 to enable the Chinese or a custom cockpit in DCS (non-Steam, Su-27 module). It seems I have to restart DCSW to have the correct cockpit textures.

Also the mirrors do not display any reflection with any of those cockpits enabled.

but I feel a little disappointed about the issue of visibility.

With "Large" setting, I can still now SEE those planes, tanks or other objects from 100km even in dark night. radar is useless than eyeballs.

The functions of Radar now are only guiding missiles and identifying air crafts, not searching any more.

it reduces a lot of fun, I hope ED could improve this issue as soon as possible.

However, thank your hard work to keep the game more enjoyable, I will pay more for your hard work~~

No, no CN option on the latest open beta on Steam.

 

Looking at the Steam depot settings, the 'Achievement Language' is missing 'Simplified Chinese' or 'Chinese'. Until that is changed on the base DCS World appid 223750 then the various module depots won't show as CN (schinese) either - although there are app ids already for the translations.

Was getting 170 - 450 KB/s using the torrent.

 

Cancelled and switched to HTTP and now only getting 100 -126 KB/s.

 

Previous updates, with the exception of this and the one before it, have downloaded at the limit of my bandwidth = 1.1 MB/s. I don't have any torrent throttling with my ISP.

 

Hope this gets sorted before NTTR or I'll be downloading it all through December. :smartass:

Update:

 

Restarted the torrent and getting 500 - 600 KB/s. Faster than HTTP (for me) but only about half my bandwidth.

Downloaded just fine.

 

I started downloading the torrent with a peak speed of 3.1 MB/s. for two minutes or so, then dropped to 200 KB/s.

I then canceled and restart with the http download, downloaded then with 1.3 MB/s speed all the way.

I get the update in half an hour or so.

Soooooo, don't use Large? Seems pretty obvious to me...

Model Enlargement is sort of a cheat, and is meant to be set to OFF for realism. I have it at SMALL at the moment to assist a bit with target aquisition when attacking ground targets in the A-10C, and I still feel like I'm cheating.

still, pressing cancel on torrents asks to go old-school http which may be better or worse depending on the current conditions.

 

to use new updater you should completely cancel current update process and start again from the 'Update DCS World' menu entry.

I have a question, if I have to update my CA, BS2, and A-10C separate modules with 1.2.16 after I have installed DCS World 1.5 beta. Are they compatible at all?

All modules of 1.2.16 has compatibles with 1.5 Beta, only need go to module manager and enter with your login and pass, and 1.5 show your products to download the appropriate installer.

Is there any way to get the updater to rejoin the swarm and continue helping to seed? I may be wrong about this, but if everyone's updater drops out of the swarm when they have it all, there's nobody left seeding the whole update?

Yes, but some of us WANT to assist with seeding! ;) I have a BSD seedbox that isn't very busy these days, so I could easilly assist with ~150Mbit worth of upload bandwidth.

Not trying to be snarky or anything, but where were those seeds when I was getting 15KB/s on a 1Gb fibre connection? Did something not quite work right this time? I had around 200 peers, I was uploading to others at 30Mb... this is not the way bittorrent behaves when I'm seeding... err... Linux ISOs.
