Gazelle module features updates

Hi Gents, I created a new thread to update about the Gazelle module features.

So people who are looking at such data will have only one place to go.

So the first question I'll answer is about the RWR system.

 

The Gazelle is equiped with a RWR system composed of 4 cells (2 forward and 2 at the tail) and a display in cockpit DRAXX 33 between the TV display and the main Dashboard.

The simulated DRAXX 33 displays only radar emission sources, and radar missile launch too.

A custom symbolgy is used.

No IR sources detected and displayed though.

 

Here's the list of symbols used by the module, this list may change in time.

Good news but, umm, what emissions does the RWR pick up from those transport helos you listed, like the UH60 or Mi-8? Are you referring to specialized EW or anti-ship/submarine aircraft?

What weapons will be simulated? We have seen euromissile HOT but I wonder if M621/NC621 pod and the mistral have a chance? Since we have the viviane sight, I assume only the HOT?

Some helos (transport versions or attacks) has no radar emissions (Mi-24, Mi-26, Ka-27, Ka-50, Ka-52, CH-47, CH-53, UH-60, AH-1, Mi-28, OH-58). Not sure a RWR can detect a Surface search radar of a ASW helo.

On your site there reads "Video display The TV displays a moving map and the Viviane sight datas" Is there a demo of the moving map somewhere?

Ok, I just checked, no Helicopter symbol will show at the RWR screen.

 

The TV moving map was a feature at the start of the project.

 

To reflect the real counter part, the simulated CRT has been reworked to display only black and white, and no moving map now.

An IR view is available too and all commands are fonctional through the video command box or the "board commander" (copilot) joystick, the one fixed at the cabin strut.

No moving map is a shame. Does the real gazelle have a moving map?

Only more recent ones, not with this CRT TV as far as I know.

Don't forget the Gazelle is a 70's helicopter.

will we have single interior? or interiors prior to related versions?

like military version with military cockpit and interior and for ambulance, strechers inside, civil version with proper cockpit and civil pilots etc

On your screens here we can see a cable cutter, but they had to remove the Homing function to have a cable cutter. Does that mean we wont be able to do homing ? :(

Wow, that is a terrifying compromise...:shocking:

The camera can be used without removing the cable cutters, same for the ADF homing system.

What are the azimuth limitations of the vivane sight? And what are the corresponding fire-limitations? I guess that the missile needs to be launched into the line of sight of the viviane system? question came to my mind after seeing the following:

Hello Gents

Sorry for the delay, but you can imagine we are a bit busy at the moment finishing the Gazelle.

 

Viviane camera movements are limited +-120° left/right and 13°up/18°down

 

The missile needs some conditions to be met to be fired, among them

+-3° from the camera line of sight max

 

There's an autopilot mode to slave the helicopter movements to the camera when targeting

 

All these datas will be available in the manual
