BaD CrC Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 First day buy for sure. Would be an example to all 3rd parties to release a final product from day 1 and not a beta which lasts for years. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Cann0nF0dd3r Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Why all of the Prerelease/Beta hate?? You know what you are buying when you get the Beta versions, if you want to wait for full release then do it, nothing is stopping you.
Exocet Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Why? Because it slows down the release of modules / games mi 8 is not completed, it would be the case without beta, because faster is better for $ Edited January 27, 2016 by Exocet
King_Hrothgar Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 There is a lot of truth to that, it has become fairly common to release a "beta" product and then never actually finish it. You aren't the only one who's tired of that kind of thing, but I don't consider the Mi-8 to be an offender in that regard. The stuff they left out (other than the bomb sight) was largely unimportant in the context of a home flight sim and most of it has now been added. The C-101 is a far better example of an abandoned beta product. Regardless, I too am eager for some news on the Gazelle. Seems all the recent updates have been on projects not expected to be released for a year or more.
kontiuka Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The C-101 is a far better example of an abandoned beta product. Delayed, not abandoned.
Johnny Dioxin Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 The team have been giving info up to as recently as 9 days ago, in the project thread. There was also a detailed update around the turn of the year, explaining what was happening and what was planned - don't see what the issue is with wanting updates. Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!
Steggles Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Why? Because it slows down the release of modules / games mi 8 is not completed, it would be the case without beta, because faster is better for $ Sure. Yes please! Give me a module that's not in beta because they rushed the full release. And thanks to the rush and lack of testing it's riddled with bugs and not really fly able. I see nothing wrong with releasing aircraft in a beta state. They state that it's beta and people can make their choice. Releasing a beta can actually speed up the process to a full release because they actually have a ton of people testing it, instead of the company's internal testing team trying to find each and every bug. If you buy a beta product and are not happy with it, then wait for the full release before you buy beta products. After all, you would still be waiting for the full release anyway if they didn't do an open beta. -16AGR- 16th Air Guards Regiment is always looking for pilots - http://www.16agr.com EWRS - Early Warning Radar Script Specs: Gigabyte Sniper Z5-S Intel i5-4670k 3.4GHz OC'd 3.9GHz w/ Thermaltake 120mm Water 3.0 Pro Liquid CPU Cooler 16GB RAM Gigabyte GTX 1080 TM Hotas Warthog: SN: 06976 Saitek Pro Flight Combat Rudder Pedals TrackIR5 with TrackClipPro & Oculus Rift 2x 28" 4k UHD Monitors (3840x2160 each) + 1280x1024
dogbite Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 If not for buying A10c beta,I would not be enjoying Nevada (as an alpha) and free at that. F86 was in beta quite a while and can't overstate the enjoyment of this bird even while in beta. It would also seem beta gives developers some early funds to help sustain their cost before full retail release. flyingscotsman Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I agree with Dogbite, these guys are not Microsoft or Apple, so we need to be patient and help, they give us a discount, or freebie, seems fair trade to me
NeilWillis Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Here we go yet again - another totally appropriate and necessary debate on whether Beta releases are good or bad! After all, it is entirely up to us how developers go about their business isn't it!
Aginor Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Yeah, especially a unnecessarily revived one. Please look at the dates of threads, guys! The Gazelle is very close to release, let's just wait the few remaining days. 1 DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
jcbak Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 It seems to me that Beta is somewhat subjective. Some releases were/are in beta and the aircraft is very flyable and then there are others that are not. I'm guessing that some developers may call it a beta because there are bound to be some issues no matter how much careful testing is done. I've regretted beta purchases in the past, but the Gazelle will be a day one buy for me.
