All sounds should now be working and all sdef files are present. I also changed the format to a zip file for those who do not use 7zip. Check the 1st page for updated link. I'm becoming confused here, I've been using 7zip for years to unzip .zip files. Whats the cryptic meaning of the 7zip conspiracy? Win 10 64 bit Intel I-7 7700K 32GB Ram Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6gig

jnr4817 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I already have a sounds folder in my saved games dcs folder (C:\Users\Jason Reed\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Sounds). The sub folder is called sounders for a different mod. Can I just copy the sub folders, effects/sdef, into that sounds folder? 9800x3d|64 GB 6200|4090|m.2 x2 http://www.blacksharkden.com/ Come join us!

salsantana Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 It's downloading now, so I'll thank you in advance; I'm sure the authenticity is excellent....... as I grew up in an area in close proximity to several military bases, during the 60's there was fairly frequent presence of the Huey helicopters; I totally loved the sound "thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-...................", especially when those rotors made the window panes rattle---from MILES away The opening scene of "Apocalypse Now" is nostalgic. I have the Blackshark2; the (stock) rotor sounds as you descend and max the collective at 100' or so are REALLY well done. I also have the UH-1H helicopter but find the rotor sounds a little thin, and hope to find how to fatten them up.

I have always thought that the stock sounds of the Huey were off as well. This mod works very well. Sound more like a Huey for sure. Thank you Skullz for all of your hard work. I took the liberty of changing the weapons sounds. To my ear, I think that these sound better. Let me know what you think. I tried to make the M60 sound for left and right, but couldn't do it. The Miniguns work just fine for left and right, but not the M60's. Maybe you can tell me what I did wrong. Pawsie Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Lost this effect again, a couple of patches back. Anyone got a fix for current situation? Being used to the angry slapping from this mod, original sound is simply...boring! 'Paws
NahkaSukka Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Neither can i get this working anymore. Yes, i know how to install it. I've done it dozens of times after updating the game. I agree with @Pawsie, the original sounds feel so lame and dull after using this sound mod. 1
Helixair Posted May 2 Posted May 2 hi everyone, I have the same problems since the last update, I lost the sounds of slaping blades and distant sounds in external view. If someone would have a solution because I tried to convert the sounds to ogg format but nothing changes.
Pawsie Posted May 16 Posted May 16 (edited) Some testing: - Adding sound mod path in entry.lua script does nothing. - Deleting (or rather moving to a safe place) the sounds.edce file; low rpm warning, tail rotor and engine startup sound are actually replaced, although the latter seems...wonky/out of sync. Main rotor remains unchanged I'm guessing ED/Belsimtek don't want us to fully enjoy this bird Edited May 16 by Pawsie

Dogmanbird Posted June 7 Posted June 7 (edited) It works if I delete the "save games/dcs/config" folder and let dcs rebuild it. Also, since the last DCS update, I've unfortunately lost all the button mappings for my VKB grips, which might be related to the hidden space in the VKB naming convention. All other devices are still okay. Edit - this only works during the first run of the game. Restarting dcs reverts back to standard engine sounds Edited June 17 by Dogmanbird
